My nephew refurbished an upgraded pc my sister bought for me & they shipped it out via UPS yesterday. I should get it early next week.
Here are a few of the specs for the pc I have now... Storage 3.98 GB Memory 392 MB Processor less than 1.5 GHz Windows 2000 14 in Sony monitor (very cumbersome & heavy)
Here are some of the specs for the pc that is on its way... Storage 40 GB Memory 512 MB Processor 2.8 GHz Windows XP 16 in flat screen monitor
He is also including web cams so Maxi & I can chat with each other when he is at his dads, or we can chat with my sister and/or my nephew.
So, meanwhile, I called a girlfriend of mine who doesn't have any pc at all and is too poor to ever get one. I said "How would you like my computer?" Well man dear, she was thrilled. She's never been on-line, knows nothing about email or forums. I told her she is going to have a blast!
I've been dumping unneeded files from my pc to free up as much space as I can for now, then when the new one arrives, my computer guy will help me transfer files I want to keep to the new pc. That way, my friend will have a cleaned out computer to learn on and I'm excited for her!
I'm very excited for Maxi and I also. My family just thought it was time I had an upgrade considering how much we rely on the computer.
Isn't this swell?

WOW That is awesome Merme~ Hopefully you can get a Jump drive and down load your pictures and important files on it and just plug it back in to your new computer and you'll have it all! That is wonderful you're giving the one you have now to your friend, She will have a blast, and you'll probably get a lot of phone calls from her asking what to do! I'm happy for the both of you! Kudo's to your Sister!

Merme that is so wonderful that your family is so thoughtful.--and then for you to turn around and repay that kindness by preforming the same type of kindness yourself, is just fantastic. I am happy for you all. This is a fantastic day indeed.

Well, it's not bad, better than the pc of my son's that just burnt out on us (that I don't have the cash to replace).
I'd probably recommend upgrading the memory on it, but as long as its processor is greater than 1ghz and your ram is greater than 512mb on WXP it should "work"
