I can't remember where Lynne posted her pretty honeysuckle. This is the only type we have around here. Plain. It smells good but is very invasive.
this is my solid yellow lantana. I've been looking around since Diane posted her multicolored and mostly see solids here. My mother has a multi. The multi is much prettier.
Sheri - I posted a picture of the multicolored lantana recently. I went out and bought 2 more of them. While I was there I did see the same color that you have, and also a pale purple one, but these multi-colored ones were so much brighter to go with all my bright orange flowers. I will take another picture of them if this rain ever goes away!
Diane - I've never seen a lily like that one - it's sooooooo pretty!
I have to make myself not weed so much I keep telling my self..."you planted that...don't pull it up" okay so I talk to myself too.... . Who else is out there besides the dogs

Crepe Myrtles can sure tolerate the heat. My daughter has them at her other house here in GA and it is so hot and hardly ever rains and they bloom anyway.
I FINALYY have flowers to share!!!! This is a gaillardia-I think Oranges & Lemons---it came back from last years' plantings.--it certainly looks different, but there you are---if you remember my Yellow Goblin's second flowering was burgundy in color last year. There are more plants next to this one. They are either the Yellow Goblin or the Burgundy--I'll let you know when they flower.
Next is: Stoke's Aster "Honeysuckle Purple
Here is my Bea Balm--Petite Delight

And here I have a surprise. Where my Firecracker plant was last year, I now have what I assume to be a lilac Spoon Soprano Osteospermum. yep I know--no spooning going on. After the first flowering of this plant, last year, it reverted to what you see here. It was about 1 foot to the right of its current spot in placement last year so it is likely the Spoon Osteo.

Sheri - such pretty flowers! I'm going to have to enjoy all of everyone's coneflowers this year - the multitude of baby woodchucks this year has eatent every single flower stem on every single coneflower plant - and I have many!!!
Carol - not sure if that is oranges and lemons - the color is right but mine don't have that dark rim around the center like that?
Your asters and monarda are such pretty colors, and I love your osteospermums! I have some seedlingsgrowing from seeds I both planted last fall and early this spring, but they are taking forever to get to a size where they might actually bloom someday!
Sheri: I was remiss in mentiing your beautiful flowers, that you had posted. I was so happy with my own little news. Please forgive my rudeness. I truely enjoyed looking at them.

Lynne---I will tell you something else---the O & L did't have the fluted edge either did it?? I think my favorite nursery (where my gaillardia's came from) did some "gardening" of thier own. The only other thing it could be is my Burgundy colored yellow goblin from last year.--I guess, though, it could have gotten cross polinated all on nature's own so to speak. Thank you for your kind words.

Carol - my oranges and lemons from last year did NOT have the fluted petals, but the ones I bought very early this spring all did - I thought I had also bought the wrong thing - but now they look just like the ones from last year. I wonder if the first few blooms are just different for some odd reason?

Well Lynne--since you have said that, I guess it is possible. and since that is how mine have gone it is looking like it is that way indeed.

I had posted about the great deal I got on some Pentas at the new Lowes here a few weeks ago. Well, now that the plants are on their second round of flowerheads, all of a sudden a pale pink one appeared amongst the deeper pink plants. Anyone know what might have caused that? It is definitely not another plant mixed in - there is only 2 trunk to this plant!
This is supposed to be the Green Envy Echinacea I am looking into other varieties. Below is 2 photos of the same plant. the first one was taken after say 2 or 3 days of these 3 buds blooming
This photo taken yesterday, of the 3rd bloom in the above photo was taken after say 1 day of the bud blooming.

I wanted to show this Gaillardia flower again. It came back from last year. This is another flower from the same plant that I posted earlier. (on 6-23-09) This flower does not have the fluted petals like the first flower did. It is more true to the usual Oranges & Lemons Gaillardia, which it is? I am not positive as the plant that has come back next to it has not flowered yet- You see last year I was not to "bright" in my plant placement. I put the "Yellow Goblin" right next to the Oranges & Lemons plant.

This is the FIrst lily to come to my yard. My late sister from Ohio brought it in an I said I dont like lilys.. She was shocked . NOw look at me ..Lilys are my middle name..LOL
Ps .......My neice named her 2 week old baby ......girl lily.. THe neice name is Lacey...LOL cute huh?
My cleome got a late start because I moved the plants that grew from scattered seeds from last year about 2 weeks ago. They are now blooming nicely what with all the daily rain we've been having!
Some of my plants do not like this rain though and the leaves are starting to blacken. We have torrential rain and thunderstorms today, had it also on Wed, as well as some rain almost every day since the beginning of July!
last year I added a Yellow Goblin Gaillardia to my flower bed. it had many beautiful ALL yellow blooms. When they faded and the new blooms came on they were ALL Burgundy!!!!--So naturally I was excited to see what this plant would flower as this year. Below you can see for yourself.
It looks a bit like the Gaillardia Bijou but is as tall as the yellow goblin-----although there is a Gaillardia Goblin that looks just like this as well, but I can only find the dwarf form of it.
There is always something to keep one on their toes, huh???

I *finally* have some more pics! the weather's been soooo bizarre this year
Here's the far end of my bed. The brugs are at the end of the wood plank. I had no space to bring them in last year so I have to take cuttings. But this year, since I'm moving into a single dorm, I can hopefully dig and bring the whole plant inside instead of taking cuttings. They were almost 6' tall last year when I came back from my french trip (Aug 8 or so). The cannas in the foreground I started from seed, and the ones along the fence I started from rhizome. Not much of a difference eh?

Calendula (wintersowed this winter) There is actually a lighter 'ring' on the petals around the center (which I think is considerably darker than any other calendula I've seen). I raelly like this one!
My failed attempt at taking a 'busy bee' picture. I'll try again next time...there always seems to be a bee on the agastache!

Small clump of Siberian Motherwort that I wintersowed this past winter. It's blooming in its first year. This plant is used a lot in Chinese herbology and medicine. It's Chinese name directly transliterates into the 'herb that benefits mothers.' Ironically, it isn't supposed to be used during the pregnancy.

I look forward to seeing these every year. Though they're technically considered a weed, I've never been more successful growing orchids! These 'are invasive' in the sense that their roots are at least, from what I was told, 4' in the ground (I dug down to 2' trying to transplant them but gave up) and they pop up in the lawn (not a concern since I do all the mowing in the back and side, and I just mow around them). They're called helleborine (Epipactis helleborine)

Pineapple sage plant from seeds last year from Lynne. I'm finding it growing many different places in the yard from the wind blowing the seeds around and probably birds too. This one is more a pink color as opposed to the red that it was last year,, a couple of others were pink this year too.
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
If I had My way Carol He wouldn't have to mow at all,, I'd have little paths of stepping stones in the back yard with the rest of it filled with flowers and Brugmansias!

One time my brother was doing me a favor, mow the lawn.. I had 12 chestnut trees I started from seeds.......He killed them all. Last time I let a man mow. then they mow all the grass onto the walks and flower beds.eek
I am the one who has to clean it . Oh well I do enjoy mowing .He fixes the machine. zero turn mower.
Dodge--I am so glad that you have a good mower, that makes all the difference in the world.
now moving on.....
Below is a picrture of a sedum I have had since we moved onto the "farm" back in 1980. It had belonged to my DH's Great Aunt. When we moved to this house in 12/04, I brought a part of the plant with me, since it was Rod's Aunt's & all.
In the 29 years I have had this sedum it has never bloomed. You are all seeing the very first bloom, in all that time. I am SO excited!!! Yes, I had transplanted parts of it all around the 'farm' when we lived there and still it did not bloom there. It is living in transplanted farm dirt here-(I had Rod bring my good dirt with us--) but blelow it is clay I am thinking.
PS the white "dots" on the green leaves is "Seven". So not to worry.
