I know. Me, too.

I never have the heart to tell Maxi "no" when he wants to go swimming, even if it isn't convenient. The kid is like his mom & dad... a true water rat; he can't help it.

No, there isn't, although there is PLENTY of room for several big pools. We have a huge acreage here. The owners just don't want the hassle, it seems. But there are millions of pools in our town, so finding a place to swim is easy. Also, Maxi's best friend Dom has a pool and if Dom's parents say ok, the boys can go there.

How do you survive YEARS without swimming, Di? I couldn't do that.

I don't know,, I love swimming and it's great overall exercise. I used to have a membership at a Y I let it expire,, but a co worker has an inground pool she said I could go over there anytime I wanted so I think I'll take her up on that! thumbup

Oh, with a standing invitation like that, you should go for it! Many pool owners feel they do not get enough use out of their pools, especially if their kids have left home, so they love it when company comes to swim. It makes the pool seem worth the upkeep effort if people are enjoying it.

I used to like the Y until the one in a nearby town did Maxi & I wrong. Now I won't go there. But the idea of a Y pool is good in general, if you have decent management.

Well my cart is decorated. I went out to find a friend with a camera to take a pic to email to me for sharing. Then found out that the parade is not until tomorrow. I was misinformed by an employee about the day (my daughter badday ). That is OK, it is the Fourth today and my cart is quite seasonal.
And I have plenty of time to nap. Maybe I will decorate another cart too. I have 3 to play around with. And decorations from past years.

Sorry about the date mix-up for the parade, Tina. It is great that you have more than one cart to decorate! That sounds fun.

I have so much to do and I'm having trouble reeling Maxi in to help. I don't blame him, though, because it is the first sunny day we've had in so long.

Lately I have been feeling this way all over the forum except for a few brief minutes of conversation with a few people. I say since so many of us feel this way that we just stop it now. Today is a day of change for the better.

Tina, I hope you can get pictures of your cart. That is way cool.

Diane, I am a member of the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center but for the past year I haven't been able to get a lane in the pool to swim laps. My friend and I have complained and were told that 2 lanes are supposed to be left open for lap swim and that 5 people are suppose to "circle swim" in each lane. That's nuts. The pool is always scheduled for high school swim team practice, scuba lessons, swimming lessons, water aerobics. We were taking about it yesterday and thinking of joining another gym that isn't so crowded. It doesn't have a pool but we can't swim anyway.

I just came in for a few. I stayed 3 hours out in the heat and that is about enough. I gotta cool off for a bit before I pass out. hubby bought a few fireworks today, although I guess we'll be eating beans and potatoes for the next week. lol the kids are outside now seeing what they can blow to bits with the firecrackers. they rigged up this tube thing and put paper in it so when the firecracker goes off it 'shoots'. it is amazing how kids can have fun with simplist of things. I never get tired of watching them! hubby also got me one of MY favorite fireworks. I wish he wouldn't have spent the money, but I'm still excited and anxious for dark so we can shoot off the...??? what are they called? It's a 100 box of screamers. you light one fuse and one by one the shoot off and scream as they go. the screaming gets faster and faster as it gets to the end. I just LOVE them! One day I'd LOVE to go and watch a shuttle launch. I'd bet that'd beat any kind of firework you could imagine.

Merme, I was only skim reading but you are an invisible woman??? don't know what your referring to unless if your like me, my timing is always off it seems with the chatting. when I'm on the ch no one else is around.

that parade thing sounds SO cool tina.
I said last year after watching our local Christmas parade that next year I was gonna see what I had to do to ride in the parade next year. I think it will be loads of fun. driving slow....waving at everyone....throwing out candy...saying hi to those you actually know. I'd like to take the dogs too. they's get a big kick out of it!

No, Maxi STILL hasn't come home! boohoo

I did manage to get the clothes out of the washer & into the dryer. That is a very hard task for me, but I got it done.

I finally opened the Ziplock packing bags I bought. They are MUCH bigger than I thought they would be, which is great because often things are so much smaller. I bought a box of four. I will need one.

Maxi needs to be here to go in his room & retrieve certain items he needs to take. If any of it needs laundered we are going to run out of time. He also needs to help me search for his new toothbrush & paste I bought him for camp... we don't know where my last girl put it because it is gone from the spot we left it.

In general, we do well packing his blanket, pillows, sheets into his net laundry bag. We use a box for his shower caddy & all those non-fabric items. Then one duffle bag (or this year, the Ziplock) for all his clothes and towels. Of course his sleeping bag travels seperately, rolled up.

Hi Cricket!

Hi Sheri!

and so WHY are you invisible....unless you've already answered. then just tell me to quit being lazy and go back and read. haha

mr. maxi is stressing you out with his over extended play time. does he carry a cell phone?

I get torn with my kidos wanting to go go go. I'm so pleased they are both very social, but sometimes I just like them here! like today they want to run off with a neighbor and his fam to watch a public firework thing. I hated telling them no, but we spent a small bundle on food for today and money on our own fireworks. I told them today we should just hang with each other and bond. I got the glare. oh well?!?

I agree! But it's not us Sheri,, it the ones doing the deliberate ignoring that need to " just stop it" it isn't very becoming of them at all and that's the last time I will mention it and only did now because Sheri brought it up,, and said it just as it should be " Just stop it" Everyone should play nice,, If you can't play nice you shouldn't be playing here at all![Linked Image]

That's a shame they don't enforce their own rules, or at least set aside a couple of times a week that only members can swim /exercise,, or days for laps only,, etc. . I'd much rather swim then do aerobics!

I get torn too, Cricket. Jonni has never been so busy in her life. I hate to say no to any of it. But I have when I needed her to Teddy sit once in a while and kept it as short as possible so she could jump back on her treadmill social whirl

Well, we are nearly finished for tomorrow.

Maxi came home about 6, dug out the stuff we needed found and rotated the laundry. Then he made dinner while I did other tasks. He made Maxi's Monster burgers and I had to laugh when I saw him... I know he used about TWICE as much meat as usual per burger. lol So, we had *BURGERS* and the potato salad I bought earlier today. Then we made cream cicles and stuck them in the freezer for later. Now the kid is in the shower. All of his clothes and gear is packed. Now we just have to pack his sheet, spare blanket and pillow & roll the sleeping bag.

I think I can spell e-x-h-a-u-s-t-e-d still.

It sounds exhausting too, Merme. I have never done the camp stuff either for myself nor for my kids. My older kids were not interested. We did a lot of family camping. With the year round school for my younger set there was never a camp with the things Jonni was interested in in the time slots she had available.

Yes Sheri - those are the ones - the REAL Hermans Hermits with Peter Noone!

They played last Sunday evening at our town's fireworks. They were very entertaining and Peter Noone was very funny. I had a blast with my friend, her mother, daughter and her friend. We all walked up to the front of the audience - right behind the low wire fence and had a birds-eye view. My husband sat like a bump on a log back with our other friends who could't care less - their loss!

I will try to post the pictures tomorrow - I am very tired after a long day today. We had a nice time at our friends' today. It was much cooler out than this past week, and I was even cold once the sun was starting to set - needed a jacket - imagine that! But no rain, and that was VERY nice!

Two of our neighbors were shooting off fireworks when we got home. One was the house katycorner behind us, and the other was 2 houses down. Both at the same time. Now mind you... the shooting off of any fireworks is totally illegal here, and there was a huge article about it on the front page of our paper 2 days ago. Anyone see any police around - not us! The guy behind us kept shooting them off waaaaaaaaaaaaay too low to be safe for anyone or his house! We expected it to ignite at any moment - guess he got lucky! Now they are burning wet wood in their outdoor fireplace and it is stinking into our open windows! The kids are shouting at the top of their lungs in their inground pool at 11p.m. - I hope they quiet down sometime soon.

Merme - I did the sleepaway packing 6 years for Brian, and 4 years for Amy so I completely understand the day you had today. But just wait til you have to pack him up to go to college!!!

I am just popping in a few minutes to saY 'HI'. I have just gotten back from going to see the fireworks with my mom & her friend. They were nice, and I enjoyed having my funnel cake and seeing my brother and my niece. She will be a sophomore next year and has become quite the looker.

It rained right before the firewirks began but only 'misted' during them.

I hope everyone had a very good day.

Well we are off to bed at last. I'll see you all tomorrow early evening by the time I get back. I plan on taking pictures of Maxi before he goes and a few of the camp property as well which I hope to post tomorrow night.

Safe away home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all.

Hi all,
As I type the fireworks are going off in my neighborhood- the people 3 houses up had a party for everyone- and they must have spent a bundle on firworks cause they have been shooting them off for 2 hours now... we sure enjoy watching them- we didnt go up to the party cause we ended up taking Joe to the ER .. he finally couldn't take the pain anymore... they gave him 3 scrips ..hopefully it will help- he is still going to his back doc on Mon to see if there is anything else they can do for him.. .. meds help but he is still hurting- had to have oldest come stay with my Mom...then Carrie - Jon and I went to the ER with him... it wasn't crowded so we got in and out fairly quickly - took almost as long to get his meds at the drug store... he is feeling some better now but has a ways to go to feel good again.
We didn't get to do the pool or mulch for the yard needless to say so will try for next weekend and get our older grands over to help out...
Teresa ,Matt and her son Matthew stayed for dinner - we had steak and baked taters... some sauteed mushrooms too... was really good.... watched some of the fireworks and came in cause it really got cool outside- it's only 57* right now, and kind of misty- they said the humidty is 93 percent- very cool for July.
Well I am tired and ready for bed- soon as I lock up and help Joe upstairs I am hitting my pillow...

Nana It's good to hear the Med's are helping Joe feel better, I imagine it's hard to keep him still when he's used to being up and going and doing things. You're right to just have him relax and let the med's work and take the edge off the pain, and just have today for a less pain day.
I haven't even made Breakfast yet,, I woke up feeling very very lazy lol maybe I should just make an early Sunday dinner notme

Good afternoon everyone.I had a long night;I snuck off with my younger brother to a fireworks stand and bought some fireworks. My parents weren't going to buy fireworks this year and I was buying some as a surprise. My neighbors were shooting bottlerockets and other illegal fireworks. They didn't land anywhere near my house.I'm so tired.

Waiting for fall...
