How do canna seedlings look like? Are they perennials? How long does it take to get flowers?

enrique, i don't have a good answer for you. but typically, cannas are bulb plants, and will flower the first year if not planted too deeply. i have several that have never bloomed because i planted them too deep, and, they don't get enough water. they can be water hogs. my understanding is that they take a couple years to bloom if you plant them from seeds. tk can tell you better than i on that though.

yes they are perennials. Tbey bloom the first year. I know the offshoots look exactly like the mother plant. I'm not so sure about seedlings. Do you have a pic of what you think are seedlings?

Yes, I have heard that they bloom first year from seed. All but four of my cannas are from seed, and my 'seedlings' look like miniature versions of the mature plant. They do grow pretty quickly, very quickly in fact. I can take a picture if you want to see them. They should be perennials where you are...we have to dig the rhizomes up here...such a pain but so worth the show :)

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

these are about two weeks old. Mind you, they should grow faster for you, because I had them in bad light (just sun from west window in early spring), and cooler temps (I didn't want them to grow too fast because I didn't have the space).

Yep, those are Cannas. I have about 150 in my yard. I leave mine out all year and DON'T dig up the rhizomes.

The pot where I planted a canna seed has a tiny plant in it.I belive it is a cana seedling. It is growing slowly since I planted it in potting soil.
