Are there any sunflowers that can be grown in pots?

Yes, even the taller ones have been grown in pots successfully. But I would stick to the smaller varieties under 3-4 feet tall. They can make a spectacular focal point.

Look for dwarf sunflowers. Some newer hybrids like 'Pacino Cola' get only 12-16 inches tall. The size of bigger sunflowers is restricted to the size of pot - it's just that if they get too tall, the pot can topple. Other nice hybrids would be 'Sundance Kid,' 'Dwarf Teddy Bear,' etc.
