Mine (John) has a habit of reciting to me all that I have to do when *he* has a lot of stuff to do. Know what I mean? Like *I* don't know what I have to do? Dude! Like when was the last time I just spontaneously erupted into don't forget you have to "Empty dishwasher!" (That's his job, by the way.)
We are stressed. We are about to be homeless. Need to be in Starkville, MS 9/1. No place to live there. Can't be here.
Arugh.
But I did make a great zuc bread. That's something. Gotta hold tight to the little things. Aurgh.

zuz bread, and hubbies in the closet! locks on pantries doors, and full moons!
I'll either have adventure fun dreams of running away with a palenentologist team to the deepest of austrailia or have horrid nightmares of being locked in a closet with freddie cruegar. (and I'll just put one big (sp?) on all the above...no way I spelled even half of that right)
marica, my prayers go out to you guys! I can't begin to imagine how hard of a time yall are going through. ever find them yellow towels?

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain!! .....
Good morning. I didn't have the best night last night. I kept waking up. But I am up again and wide awake today. Ready to begin. I am itching to go out and do more clean up. It is not to be hot today, not much over 90*. But I need to go out and take care of business things too. I have early appointments.

I got a lot done today already. But have more to do. I am on hold on the phone right now, estimated wait time 5-10 minutes. Don't you just hate that? So I am doing paperwork while I wait on the speaker phone to answer me back.

I never could get along with speaker phones...so I don't even try anymore. I have a bad habit of hanging up when I'm supposed to PICK up!
Me too. But I was very careful this morning and I was able to do a couple other things hands-free while waiting on them to get back to me. Dishes for one.

Hiall, I spent the morning trying to redo our budget for this month- sure wasn't planning on the ER bill or the copay for 2 PT visits a week for 6 weeks.. but fixed it I hope and did Carrie's too... and figured out it costs almost $90. a for Joseph to eat at school ... ridiculous... good thing the little boys like to take lunch ... I need to start baking healthy cookies and cupcakes this week for the freezer to add to the lunches... this weekend they will not be here so thinking I will do it then... got to get some sweet potatos to puree and some zuchinni to add to the choc ones... and some ripe bananas for muffins- applesauce too... hope it cools off so baking won't make the house to hot. Its thundering here now so better get offline for awhile and shut this down... thinking of fish for dinner and baked taters to go with-salad too- for some reason have lots of tomatos this week... Have a good evening all. Nana
Nana, how do you do your budget? Monthly? Do you do it on the computer? I've never done one but I need too. All the students at my school eat free breakfast and free lunch.
No I do my budget the old fasioned way - paper, calculator and pencil, use last yr bill- add 10%..I usually have a little extra for medical stuff but went a little overboard last month on vacation so am making it up now...
For Ted's lunch, I keep money on his books. He carries his usual ensure and yogurt every day but may drink milk and/or juice at school. And occasionally he wants a banana or something (not this past year but I have hopes for next). His teachers can take these items off of his books and they let me know when I need to restock the money again. I also used to do this for Jonni when she wanted. But in high school she wasn't too interested. She often packed a lunch. I like to budget. I find it soothing to know where the money goes. And to tuck away any possible extra. I have not been budgeting lately. Just spending.

The schools here have an oline site to put lunch money in for them and another site to pay fees etc... so it's easy to make sure they have lunch money available... Timba has money in his from last yr still - Derek won't eat what they serve unless it's pizza day and thats only once a month now... so he is easy- Joseph gets $3. a day and still runs out sometimes... so increased it by a little this yr... Nicoli will get a snack at preschool but the parents take turns taking that... going to be an intresting yr here, a sophmore.. a third grader - first grander and a preschooler... lots of running back and forth in my future... LOL! Nana
I send a check with the kidos once a month for their school lunches. nothing about it is on line, although they do have plans of going in that direction in the future. I would love to be able to see exactly what they spend each day. the kids punch in their own acct code at brkfst and lunch. some months the money runs out way to quickly. I can't help but wonder if another child is accidentally transposing numbers and my kids accts are debted for it???
well our 'cool' weather is over for a while. the 95's we had for a week or two have come and gone, and we're back up to the triple digits and no rain. I'm actually looking forward to fall. I don't think I've EVER looked forward to fall before, but then again it hasn't been this hot and dry in a very long time!

Yes, my kids accounts are computerized but not online as far as I know. They have to go in and punch in a # to pay for breakfast or lunch. That is pretty cool for the kids who have free lunches because no one can tell who is free and who is not

I agree that way no one is teased or made fun of for having free lunches unlike the days when My kids were little and had to have free lunch or no lunch at all. With today's economy is no wonder more and more familys have to stick their pride in their back pockets and opt for the free lunches for their children with all the lay offs and business going under it's hard on parents to pay for that at school and pay their bills too.
I'm glad for all the children that have to have a free lunch along with paying parents children they all swipe a card or punch a number in.

It'll be easier on our budget when the kids do get back in school. they are eating us out of house and home this summer. and we don't buy a lot of junk either.
I put out some squash seedlings for a late summer/fall crop about a week and a half ago. I got so excited with the 95 weather, assuming (stupidly) the temps would go on and drop to 90's soon enough. I just went out and put some water on them and they are looking pretty darn vigiorous in spite of the triple digits! (and the deer have not been back to the garden in over a month...shhhhh...knock on wood) might just get at least SOME veggies this season after all.
anyone else just ITCHING to put out their fall/winter crop? I guess it's different for those of you up north with a short growing season. maybe you've already started, are don't even have the option for it. but I have lettuce and carrot seeds just burning a hole in their seed packets! ....patients, grasshopper...patients!

I have flowerseeds by the pound to put out in my yard when it is time. I think, later in August but I may need to wait until I can 'feel' the weather turning. We often have our hardest heat waves in Sept-Oct. It doesn't matter how much water you pour on seedlings then. They fry. And I still need to clear most of that land of litter and take down a couple of trees. The main part of those eucalyptus trees died back. But the tree isn't dead by any means. It takes a lot to kill a euc. I have 8 or so near the house that I need topped too. I called for an estimate on those today. And the guy came out a bit ago. They should be back on Monday to take that load off my back.

I'm bored and sore, Aros is sleeping, I should get some laundry going but I don't feel like it. Had a nice surprise when I got home today, Aros cleaned the kitchen (washed and put away dishes), took out the trash, recycle, and food waste. He doesn't usually do all that, he must have been bored today too.
