1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup flour 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 3 cups milk 3 cups ham, cooked 1 large green pepper, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded 5 cups potates, pared and sliced
1. Melt butter in large sauce pan over low heat; blend in flour, salt and pepper.
2. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 1 minute. Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk.
3. Return to heat; cook until thickened and bubbly.
4. Fold in ham, onion, green pepper and cheese. Pour over potatoes in large bowl.
5. Stir gently then move into a buttered 9 x 13 baking dish; cover with foil.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
7. Uncover and continue to bake for 1 hour.
8. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
*I use more than a 1/2 cup of cheese but you can use whatever suits you. I don't really measure it. I just pour it in. I like it a little cheesier.
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Thanks for the recipe Jessica,, I love scalloped tator's, My grandmother made the best,, But I never got her recipe,, I've tried so many s.p recipes! I'll try yours It seems no matter what recipe you use it just doesn't turn out like Grandma's.

Dang it I was gonna make this today But I didn't have any flour! I guess I'll cook cabbage instead,, I can't believe I didn't get flour when I was grocery shopping the other day Good thing I didn't already cut up the tator's.

Finished Jessica ,, I may have left in about 10 minutes too long,, they got a little browner then I would have liked but they taste great,, this recipe is a keeper BTW I didn't have green bell peppers so I used Red Bell peppers instead :wink:
