Tina, we put up gutter guard a few years back. Saves a lot of work in the long run.

I looked at the gutter guard. The thing that jams my gutters up most is pine needles. I think they would get hung up in those guards the same way that they do in my expanded metal fencing around my porch. Or snagged into the roof of my shade cloth shade house. I am not nearly worried so much about a backlog of water as I am a stray wind-blown cinder finding a home in a clump of dry pine needles. They tend to cluster together even on the roof surface and I get up and sweep or rake my roof off. I don't have a steep pitch to my roof.

Hi everyone! I have a few minutes before my potatoes are done so I thought I'd drop by. I'm cooking Aros's birthday dinner tonight. Tomorrow it's back to work again. I updated my wedding blog and put a picture of one of my invitations. I just did them today. Talk to you all later, hope you're having a good evening.

Yep, he's ripping at the seams. The prime rib came our perfect. Not too bad considering it was my first time ever cooking a prime rib. I will tell him that all my gardening friends wish him a good year. His actual birthday is on Tuesday.

I am glad it came out well. I haven't ever cooked a prime rib, myself.

Good morning. Today Ted will go back to school. I have some shopping to do. And when I get home it will be rake, water, rake, water. We are to top 100* again today with some winds and humidity under 10%. This is the weather I have been dreading for fire danger. But I am about as prepared as I could hope to be.
And it is time to get in firewood for when the temps drop.
I hope everyone has a nice day.

I heat with two wood stoves and a fireplace. We do have a propane forced air heater but rarely use it as it isn't very efficient. We burn about 8-10 cords a year.
My plans for my day changed. A neighbor came home from the hospital under hospice care and her whole family have congregated. So I am cooking for a crowd today. Jonni purchased a delivered pizza party for them last night but I'm going a little cheaper today. I cut up 5 pounds of beef and browned it and am sauteeing five more pounds of veggies for beef fajitas. I have tortillas to stuff them into. I also tossed together a large coleslaw. I knew I kept these giant serving dishes around for something.
Now what is for dessert?

You are a good neighbor Tina... I ewish I could send you our rain and coolness ..itis now 41* and has been raining off and on all day..... I think the last day of summer turned into the first awakenings of winter her... it snowed at 8000 ft they say....
I woke up with a rash this morning on my arms .. it itchy and bumpy- now has spread to my neck and legs- back too ... put some cortizone on it and it is not working- my Teresa is bringing me some calamine... and will pick up the boys and take them home to Carrie- she is picking up Joseph. If she can stay here till Joe gets home I will take a bendryl and go to sleep ..hopefully that will make it go away.

I am trying to be a good neighbor. I know my friends are probably struggling with the co-pays from her stroke a month or so ago. Even with Medi-Care it can get heavy. And I know that the adult children are in not much better a situation. So if I can help a little.
I was pretty proud of Jonni and her contribution last night. I couldn't let my own kid outdo me. So I just added a modified chocolate cream pie for dessert. Crowd sized.
It felt good to cook again. I haven't done much this summer.
