I found this recipe,, and I can't wait to try it,, thumbup

CROCK POT APPLEBUTTER

12 cooking Apples Peeled, cored, and sliced ( 14 Cups)
2 Cups Sugar
1 and 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground Cloves
1/2 tsp ground Allspice

step 1

place apple slices in 5-6 qrt slow cooker,, stir in sugar, cinn', and all spice


Step 2

cover- cook on high setting for 4 hours then stir

UNCOVER,, and continue cooking on high setting 2 to 2 1/2 hours or more until apples are tender and most of the liquid has evaporated

cool at least 1 hour or cover and refrid' over night
Process with an immersion blender* or run through a food mill.*


Step 3

Ladle apple butter into 1/2 pint freezer containers, leaving 1/2 " head space. Seal with lid.
Store 3 weeks in fridge.. or 1 year in freezer,,
makes 4 1/2 pints

Mixture may also be processed 1/2 at a time, in a blender or food processed. Mixture processed this way will be slightly lighter in color or thinner in consistancy..**

I will speak to my MIL--she has made Applebutter in a crock pot and in the oven, I think it was, before---I do not rememebr her saying it was so much work--so perhaps she has an easier method. why I will try to get back to you ASAP on another method, or 2 of doing it simply.

I am sure you do not want to go the old copper kettle, cook all day, method right??--(I could help you with that one if you did..LOL)

this one is very easy,, It just sounds a little drawn out,, because of the way it had to be typed,, lol lol
