I'm a little miffed at Shelley today. Colby is not better. The little man is getting depressed because he feels so bad BUT Shelley took him to Sunday School today. She kept him in her class and he laid with his head in her lap the entire class. Has she gone crazy from cabin fever or what? He has an appointment with the pulmonologist in the morning. I sure hope he figures something out.

Colby had the bronchoscopy today and there wasn't anything suspcious noted. The bottom of both of his lungs were full of mucous which is possibly infected since it's been sitting there so they cleaned that out and sent some cells to the lab to check for bacteria and the need for a different antibiotic. His lungs were sprayed with lidocaine so she can cough more easily and solumedrol, a steriod, was applied to both lungs to decrease inflammation so he'll be able to cough and breath more easily.

Now we sit and wait and hope he starts improving.

I have never heard of any of these things before. I hope they work to clear him up. Was he asleep during all of these procedures?

I have never heard of these procedures either, Sheri---but medical science is a wonderful thing--I so hope that what they did today was all that is needed to help Colby return to his normal well self. My prayers will continue for him.

He was put to sleep but not intubated. He's slept a lot of the afternoon as did Shelley since Aubry was at her Nana's.

So it's 2 days later and he's the same. Shelley said he slept a little better last night, maybe, but I'm wondering if it's just wishful thinking on her part. He's coughing his head off. What can it be? She won't get any lab results until Monday but what if nothing shows up? I'm at my wits end.

I was so hoping that all of the swabbing a spraying would clear him up some, Sheri. He still has my prayers.

OH my Sheri--I am so sorry to hear that Colby is not doing any better...I was so hoping that all that the little guy had to go thru would help him....I so hope that you all get some good news on Monday.

at this point we're hoping something shows up on the cultures so we know what we're dealing with. It's been 3 weeks and he's not getting better. Thankfully though, he doesn't seem to be getting worse. It's gotten to a terrible point and has stopped but I don't see how he can cough anymore than he's doing right now.

this is all so sad.....

I took Darbi home from school today and Colby is not 1 bit better. When we walked in he was having a coughing spell and coughed until he projectile vomitted. He went to school until 11:00 today and came home and stayed in bed coughing off and on the rest of the day. He had to get in the shower tonight before he could stop. I am hysterical at this point. I'm staying home from work tomorrow to help Shelley.

I am so sorry to hear this about Colby, Sheri---I was so hoping that he was beginning to feel better---
I am glad that you are going to stay home tomorrow to help your daughter---Is there no other place or Dr that you can take your poor grandson to?/ there has to be something someone can do, right???

I will continue to pray for him---

Colby wanted to go to Wendy's Tuesday so we went around 11:30. I felt so sorry for him because he tried his best not to cough because he doesn't like people staring at him. I don't blame people for staring though because it's natural not to want to be around people coughing so violently time after time. One time and you might think he got choked on food but time after time you realize that it's because of an illness. We tried to have fun and I think it was good for him to get out of the house for a while.

He's just so thin and looks like he's straining to breath most of the time.
