Emde, I've never had catfish although I'd be interested to try it. I have yet to meet a fish I didn't like. Some are not my favorites but I've never had fish that was flat out terrible. Nana, sorry that winter has come so early. Soup sound perfect for that weather. Take care okay? I made myself a batch of pancakes today, with chocolate chips. They are completely free of gluten, dairy, and soy, and they are even kid approved! It's not very often that I can make something that I can eat that the kids or Aros like as well. They don't get any though I only gave them a bite because they wanted to try them. They are my treat and I'll be freezing the leftovers. It's rainy here today, not too terribly cold though. It got down into the upper 30's the other night and we lit our first fire of the year in the fireplace last night. It was nice to sit on the couch with the sound of a crackling fire while I worked on my writing. The girls just left for their soccer game and the boys are playing xbox live with each other. I'm just lounging around, avoiding finishing my laundry, and playing my facebook games. In other words, I'm having a nice lazy Sunday.

Good Cheryl you deserve a relaxing day as much as you do! Sitting by the fireplace writing sounds so cozy and relaxing. I may have missed it But what is the theme of your story? BTW a friend of mine has to eat all gluten free foods, she has learned to cook all over again,, and even made a pizza not long ago, and was tickled she now has a recipe for gluten free pizza.

There are really two ways to go about switching to a gluten free diet. You can either get depressed about all the things you can't eat, or you can see it as an opportunity to learn new things. I started off with the depressed route. It seemed so overwhelming at the time. Now I have fun trying new things and learning new ways of cooking and baking. I would have never heard of quinoa if it hadn't been for having to go gluten free, and that's like a super food that I'm glad I'm starting to get acquainted with. I haven't talked about the theme of my story. It's kind of hard to explain and it might make people wonder about my sanity and how my mind could come up with such things. Lets just say it's in the horror/thriller genre leaning more towards the horror side.

Dark and TWISTED, lol. Maybe I'll let some people read it next month after I've had a chance to look it over and do some editing. We'll see, I'm my own worst critic so I automatically think that it'll be terrible in others opinions. However, I have written a dark story that won third place in a writing contest this last year so maybe I'm over critical.

Well, it's time for me to go start on dinner. The family is having french onion soup with my creamy italian salad and some warm french bread. I'm going to attempt to make myself some grilled veggies over risotto. See you later.

Well, I accidentally over cooked my veggies a bit, but I did the risotto just right. Cooking risotto is a bit of a process so I'm happy that it turned out right my first time cooking it. Now I've got two teenage girls that are avoiding being part of the family and a boy who tried to get out of eating his salad and is now procrastinating on getting the dishes done. His dad said he didn't have to eat the salad and when he asked for bread I said if you can't chew salad you're going to have a hard time chewing that bread. He ate some salad after that. As soon as he gets done with the dishes I'm going to make some tea and maybe I'll read for a bit tonight.

Good morning, everybody! Cheryl ~ The dresses the girls picked out are quite pretty! Y'all did good! Yesterday we had an exhausting day. Up early, off to church in Portland, got the first steps of the Pageant started, home by noon. Back out again by 12:30 to shop for Maxi. He got... a fine tooth houndstooth blazer made of 199% lambswool, a pale blue dress shirt, a charcoal grey tie, kakhi pants, dress socks, a beautiful pair of Florsheim slip on dressy shoes, a tie clip, a pair of cool jeans and a second tie set with handkerchief and a wallet. And we came in way under budget! Afterward we went out to dinner. I was so tired, though, I could only nibble at my dinner, so I brought it home. When we got home, Maxi put his dress socks and new shoes on and danced around for a while and then sat here at the computer loving his feet all dressed up even if he was still wearing his shorts & Nike t-shirt! I'm very pleased the shopping was so successful and now we know his sizes. Merme

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Mandatory day off today,, we still have 4 day weeks, I'm glad I got Monday's off instead of the middle of the week. I'm kinda like'n these 3 day weekends,, but,,, The paycheck doesn't like it, Bitter sweet I guess.

Diane ~ Maxi says "YUP!" And, as a side, he added "Actually, I felt like a businessman!!" I'm still tired from yesterday although I went to bed at 9:30 last night. I could sleep several more hours, truth to tell! Three day weekends are lovely, but as you say, not so good for the paycheck! Merme

It's spring here. Wish I was at home. I posted pictures in the Blooming Fine section of the butterflies attacking the encore azaleas. It's just like April only the encore azaleas aren't as pretty then. Actually they've never looked this good.

Morning, Was up early doing bills and stuff... Have Nicoli here today- we are doing another round of the cold... he feels okay but is coughing and stuffed up- Derek and Timothy have it to but Carrie sent them to school... she gets in trouble they miss so much so she said they can send them home if they want... will hve to go pick them up today anyway- she said the school didn't shovel the sidewalks so it's to deep for them to get home without getting wet... so much fun... I am going to shovel the deck today when the sun has been out a little longer... it's got about a foot and a half on it now.... my poor acaccia is bent down again ... I am going to make some spaghetti sauce in the crock pot today... sounds like a good warm dinner for tonight... with some garlic toast and a salad...and if I keep it in the crock it will be less cooking for me later on... Well I need to get some more done around here--- the vacuum is calling my name for some reason.... Nana

You are very busy. Yes they would rather the kids were in school because they get a daily allotment for the government based on attendance. And that is a big disease spreader right there.

I didn't know about the attendance allottment. I know that they want students to eat free breakfast because the school gets a kick back.

Here they call it ADA, I'm not sure what the initials actually stand for. Each student in attendance is counted and they get funds from the federal government. When I was a kid and for my older kids they got funds for us whether we were there or not as long as our absence was illness or a family funeral, etc. But now it is just for kids who are there. So the schools want them there kind of no matter what.

Yes they do... as long as they are there part of the day they get money from fed government... our kids eat breakfast at home... and take lunch- school lunches are a joke... not much nutrious about it ... every time they say they are changing for the better they make it so more kids won't eat it.... and the high schools here still have soda in the vending machines.... the latest is they are fighting over choc milk vs white-school never called so guess they are ok to be there... Nicoli is watching cartoons and reading books... he really doesn't feel well cause he is sitting fairly still.. I remember when I was a kid the school got more money for every kids whose parent worked for the govt... since my Mom worked for the post office and then the BIA we always had to fill out extra paperwork for that.... Hi everybody! Boy oh boy it sure feels cold out there tonight! Don't know what the temperature really is... I'm just calling it "cold!!" Maxi and I are having dinner a little late tonight, but I needed a nap after dialysis. Well, I needed a nap before dialysis, truth to tell! Things are quiet tonight. Maxi has homework and I'm puttering around with no real destination in sight! Merme

Dropping in to say hi. We had a bit of windstorm last night and we're supposed to be getting an even stronger one tonight into tomorrow with gusts up to about 60mph they say. I was having a bit of an insomniac night and it was nice to be able to listen to the wind while I tried to bore myself tired on the internet. Thanks for the compliments on the dresses, the girls are sure excited. I'll have to get new pics when the right color comes in. We just finished dinner. I baked some cod and we had green beans and grilled potatoes to go with it. A gluten free meal the whole family likes, a bonus for me. Me and the girls are going to watch our gilmore girls episode and then I think I might get to bed early since I got to bed so late last night. I'm tired.

Take care in your wind. I have a bunch of branches to pick up from ours. It has been bad out there.

ay-yi-yi, it is only 1 PM and feels like it should be 10 PM! My girl and I went through ALL my clothes... including the tall chest of drawers. We sorted out Donate, Toss, and Put Elsewhere. Now my room is much more roomier!! Maxi is home from school again. He just can't seem to get 100% past this cold. No karate again for him tonight. I don't think he's been there all month. Merme

Cheryl I have just gone & looked at the girl's dresses. They are beautiful. And not too fru-fru either, so they can be worn for other occasions as well. I simply adore dark colors--I am sure I will love the dresses in dark blue. ---it has been a long day here, I think I am going to "call it". ---nighty night everyone.

Good morning everyone----I am up & at 'em already with my first cup---- it is looking like I will be staying home today. I think I will just sit and look around in wonder because I get to do so, it does not happen too often ya know. I often think my getting a job would calm my life down quite bit.

Good morning everybody!
Breakfast is over and Maxi is off to school, my girl is on errands and I am finally enjoying my only cup of coffee.
This afternoon we are going to clean out inside the PC, so I sent my girl to Radio Shack to buy the set of non-magnetic screwdrivers to take the cover off and a can of air. So that's what Maxi and I will be doing later on.
I hate the thought of doing it but it is apparently so dusty inside that it is laboring intensely when Maxi plays his on-line games. My PC guru told me to clean it out after listening to the noise over the phone.
My girl is also picking up the books I ordered for Maxi for Christmas. I got him all the classic titles concerning King Arthur -- The Once & Future King, Le Morte D'Arthur, The Mists of Avalon as well as The Idylls of The King by Tennyson. He is goin to be PSYCHED!!
Dialysis today, so I'll be back later.

I didn't say good morning yet? Well good morning. I am getting lots done. Some outside and some indoor stuff like paying bills. I wish they all came in at the beginning or end of the month. It drives me nuts when they trickle in.

Tina, I agree---if they all came in at the some time we could plan & take care of them all at once--yep that would be a good idea--

Yowza, what a busy busy day it was! I'm glad we are winding down. Maxi is in the shower and soon to be in bed, and I have to clean up after our late dinner. We were delayed with dinner because we had to take apart our PC and clean it out and then I needed a nap after dialysis, so by the time we got all that done AND dinner cooked, well, we were late! Good night everyone. I hope I sleep a little better than last night. And all of you too.
