The other one was at 98 so I thought I'd just open a new one. Blooming today in Monroe, NC ![[Linked Image]](https://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL145/2152270/22721179/378021864.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL145/2152270/22721179/378021855.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL145/2152270/22721179/378021849.jpg) I posted the blue one in the Blue flowers of 2009 but it didn't bring the thread to the top. I don't know how to do that.

OH my, I was looking at Blooming Fine #7---so the comments below are for the flowers there---but I must say the ones in Blooming 8 are equally as beautiful. We are lucky to have some fantastic gardeners here. What I has originally planned to post in BF #7:Gee ladies, I feel so inadequate now after seeing what you all are growing yet this late in the year---Simply beautiful photos. And yes I agree, Sheri, you should enter those pictures in a contest of some kind. They are surely award winning shots. here is my Today's offering-- It is supposed to be a Varigated Lantana--it is doing so well because it's roots left the pot and are in the ground there. And the dirt has been brought in from my previous home. ![[Linked Image]](http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff68/JunieGirl_2007/Plants--latefall2009002.jpg)

Sheri, Thank you, you are too too kind. No, unfortunately it will not. I might have been able to over-winter it in the house but I don't know if it would take me riping out the roots from the ground---

Wonder if you could put some plastic around it and somehow hook it to the siding on your house and save at least part of it.

I agree With Sheri Carol,, It's beautiful,, another suggestion is to cover it well with leafs, and place leafs in a bucket or something large and place over the pile of leafs,, this will insulate it even when the ground freezes as well as the leaves will begin to compost at least the bottom layer will bringing warmth and nutrients to the ground surrounding it. This is what I do with my brugs cut them way back and do the leaf and bucket thing. A friend of mine lives in KS and Tried it last winter and her plant she experimented with came back Now she is bagging leafs up to do several of hers this way,

wow sounds well worth the try--Now to just find some leaves--Val has plenty--I got my last ones from her, I guess I could again Why not?? Bless Rod for getting rid of 5 of my 5-gallon buckets. There is 1 left, maybe I could "borrow" it????

Lovely, Sheri. I have tried hellebore but it fries in my summers. Someday I will find a happy place for some.

...and daffodils and day lilies...that's not good. It's nice to see signs of spring but not when there's a chance of storms yet to follow. Crazy weather.

I just finished blowing off the leavegs from my crocus & daffodils. Not to self--i should have done this when they were barely poking thru. I was just too afraid of the changing weather. Now a lot of them are blown over. I hope they work like corn does & will straighten themselves.
and I also pulled a lot of unwanted green things from my rock garden---to be contuniued tomorrow, which is when I will remove more "greenery" from the rocked area.

I Love your row of daff's Sheri. I look forward to see your picture every spring! I have your violets in a big plastic pot,, will they bloom all season? Mine bloom probably 1-1/2 months. When it gets hot the flowers start to dry up. What I like is they are pest free and evidentially the deer don't like them. I don't know if they will change in a pot but in the ground some years they are a solid color and sometimes they are variegated. I want to say they're different kinds of the violet but I'll have 1 color one year on the driveway side of the house and the next year I'll have the variegated color. I need to mark a few spots and see if indeed the same plant is having different colored flowers.

I am just hoping that MY violets even come up this year---and that my purple coneflowers come up. They both will be 15 years old this summer if they come up. They came from the farm with me.

I love the colors. What kind of violets? just the wild kind that grow in your grass in the spring. When we livesd out on the farm yet, each spring before Rod began cutting grass I would transplant some of the violets from the grass in my yard to the house-side flower beds that Rod's aunt sopnhie had made. So when we moved & the house was still ours in the spring, I moved a good amount of the now "tame" violets to this house--along with some of our good soil. But 3 years of neglect may have done them in.--well that and the clay under the inch or so of good soil that I brought. BTW: The daffodils are from the farm as well. I bought them when Valarie was about 3--she LOVED flowers & I did not--then, but I planted them for her. This is the first year that they will bloom here---well it looks like they will bloom---

So Carol - I love the picture of your white crocuses - they look so crisp! The white ones are Snow Crocus--"Lady Killer". I had wanted all Vernus Crocus but as I could not find them I settled for the Large flowering mix. ((Golden Yellow, While, Purple & Vernus.)) and The "Lady Killer" whites.

no fragrance. And when it rains hard or the wind blows all the flowers will be gone. It is evergreen though.

here are some more flowera for you to look at, Tamara: Below is a photo of my Violerts that I brought from the farm. Some DID live thru the winter---yea !!! ![[Linked Image]](http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff68/JunieGirl_2007/Violets4-5-10001.jpg) here is a photo of the 2 blue Hyacinth that I bought this spring.---Today I planted the pink one the kids gave me right beside them. ![[Linked Image]](http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff68/JunieGirl_2007/Easter4-4-10001.jpg) Here is another bunch of my farm Violets. ![[Linked Image]](http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff68/JunieGirl_2007/Violets4-5-10002.jpg) I also transplanted some violets from my yard to this area. They had to be ones that are from the original plants that I had.---so I "moved them back where they belonged" hey Sheri--Look at them

what say you that I grow US a weeping cherry tree?? I have another bush that is dying, so I think that I will replace it with one of those. in about 8-10 years we will have 1 beautiful tree to watch, OK????

Diane's roses are so lovely! Sheri's iris is of very pretty color! I have a soft spot for iris because they were one of my dad's favorite flowers and we always had them growing when I was a kid. Thanks, you guys, for sharing such wonderful photos! Merme
![[Linked Image]](//www.agardenersforum.com/images/graphics/buttons/merme.gif) ![[Linked Image]](//www.agardenersforum.com/images/graphics/buttons/gardenhelper.jpg) We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

thanks, Tamara. I will keep that in mind should I replant iris here--but I do not know if that will happen--I only have so much area to plant spring flowers. Carol How long ago did you leave the farm? You talk like yesterday.
we moved 12-26-04 (or was it 05) but yes in my mind is WAS yesterday---I raised my 2 babies out there, (25+ years) and I drive by it & see the mess the new people have it in, every day.
