Your doves are not Mourning Doves, they are White-Winged Doves. They look almost identical to Mourning Doves but notice that white stripe on the bottom of the wing? Mourning Doves do NOT have that stripe. White-Winged Doves are one of the best known Texas birds along with Roadrunners and Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers.

Oh mannnn thanks Thorney,, these are here year round,, well I believe they are, they have the blue ring around their eyes. I'll have to look up some older pictures and see if all of them have that white edge to their wings. Thanks for the info!

NOT a Butter Butt! I THINK you might have an Orange-Crowned Warbler, there!!! I thought at first you might have a Tennessee Warbler there, but they are FAR south of the U.S. border this time of year. Orange-Crowned Warblers spend the Winter in Texas and are VERY close in appearance to a Tennessee Warbler. SO I believe you have a female Orange-Crowned Warbler there!

The Meal Worms WOULD explain the Warblers. They are insect and suet eaters and rely more on a carnivorous rather than a Herbivorous diet.

Angelblossom, I submitted your pictures to they guys at Birder's World who were interested in seeing them. A fellow in Missouri said it could be a Red-Eyed Vireo, but I am VERY familiar with those birds and it is definitely NOT a Vireo.

The census is coming in from Birder's World and it is so far unanimous...Orange-Crowned Warbler. Even Vireo man changed his mind after seeing the pics.

good to know. I've only seen what i think was a red eyed Vireo in my life. it stopped by my feeders out at the farm (prior to Dec 2004) ate & was off. It was fall, right before the hummingbirds left. I immediately looked it up and I am thinking that is what it was.
