I wrapped my few gifts yesterday. Today is a little cleanup from all of our rains outdoors and a little clean up indoors and a bunch of laundry. All of the regular clothing is finished and folded hung or put away but I'm cleaning out closets and getting things ready to donate.

OK----Tina, perhaps on Diane's way over here to clean my fans, she can stop to pick you up and you can come do my closets.

(in all honesty, the only way they are going to get done 'right' is if someone else does them.---I start out meaning well, but I have such a hard time getting rid of items that are still "good yet", even if I have not worn or used them in years.) why

Yes, I have similar issues. The things I am cleaning out of closets and donating are not mine so that makes it a little easier. grin
I am only slowly getting things that belonged to John out because I don't want to mess with Ted's head too much. When I tossed out John's old ratty sneakers, Ted got them back out of the trash and put them 'away'. So I have been slowly altering the position of things so as not to be noticed.

yes I can understand that--you are a good Mom to consider Ted's feelings.

The way yo are going about it sounds like a good method.

Except it means I am spreading out a little slower than I would like. I moved in here and John already had a houseful of furnishings. I also had a houseful of my own. Trying to work both in together made for a jumble that we have lived with for about 20 years. I am trying for a little less jumble in my life.

Merme I am glad you found your notebook ... good for you Maxi...

Hi everybody! wavy

Gee, Di, I wish you'd PM me to tell me the best way to clean a ceiling fan. We have one -- in Maxi's room -- and though I've tried various methods, I haven't yet discovered a good way to do it.

Good luck, Nana Sherri, with your list making... and checking it twice! lol

Diane & Nana, thanks for mentioning the missing notebook. Maxi really did do quite a task in finding it for me. He has a bajillion of that type notebook laying around here and I couldn't remember what color mine was! Every one I found was one of his! Since I can't bend forward any more, I was limited in my search area. So, he took on the challenge and nailed it!

Maxi put up our tree this afternoon. Of three strands of new-last-year lights, only 1/2 of 1 strand lights this year! rolz So, gotta get more lights.

Nana. I don't even want things that match. Or things I have to worry will get a smudge on it from a none too clean person sitting and lolling around. All of our upholstered furniture is hand me downs from others' upgrades. (I will have to get new carpeting in a while because what I have is on its last legs.)
But two households and so much in storage to deal with is not fair to leave my descendants some day. I can't clean well if I can't get to the corners to clean them. Some of the older cheap furniture is beginning to fall apart too.
I have a couple of bags of clothing to take to the community center tomorrow. And more things washing to be 'stored' for the next trip. As soon as I get my favorite sofa back together I'm going to go doze on it.

Good morning, everybody!

Our rain finally stopped. It is cold out there! Duh, I guess that is what happens come winter in Maine! lol

Carol, there are several holiday movies we love to watch to make it really "Christmas". It's A Wonderful Life, The Bishop's Wife, White Christmas, and a couple of the animated ones, too....

'morning I say as I drag my butt in here... badday

I had an extremely stressful day yesterday and almost had to fly down to Florida last night because my dad is not feeling well, and my mom has too many health issues to take care of him properly. Fortunately mom finally called a friend of theirs, who went over immediately and called 911 immediately. Their assessment was that his vitals were ok and he did not need to go to the hospital, but he is dehydrated, among a few other issues, and must drink more than he is willing to. Sheeeeeesh - wish I could pour drinks down his throat via the phone, ya know?!? tapfoot

This was so not good for my own blood pressure issues of last week... where's that calgon???

Hi all,
I feel for you with trying to caretake long distance-- getting an older person to drink enough is a challenge for sure- especially when they don't want too... worse than a kid....
Merme we have to watch all those and a lot of of the animated ones too - Joe's favorite is The Island of Misfit Toys...and lately the ones on Hallmark made for Christmsas- especially the ones with Peter Falk...
I finished my shopping this morning- and did most of the wrapping last night- now I have to think up a way to hold all the gift cards.. thinking of making a pocket for them with my leftover felt scraps ... ...
Well off to get ready for the boys to get home...

Every night when I sit here at the table on the computer I hear a faint beeping. It only beeps twice...from somewhere in the living room.

Yes, I went out to buy it yesterday. They were so small I bought two (one for Jonni for Christmas). I also got an external drive for dvd's and cd's, and car plug in, case and a mouse for each.
I can't seem to hook up a camera or printer to my desktop any more so I really wanted an option.

We are having weird weather... unusually warm then ridiculously cold.

Maxi got our tree up and three strands of 100 multi-colored lights on it. Pretty many lights for such a tiny tree.

Last night Maxi did an herb & olive oil rub on a pork loin and we roasted it. Tonight I sliced some of it real thin and made gravy and mashed potatoes. It was heavenly! Tasted like more to me! lol

I'm keeping a low profile until my surgery on Tuesday.

The font on my net book is adjustable, Nana. I have old eyes too. I chose for a larger keyboard and the screen is a nice size. I will continue to use my desk top for most things. But the netbook will be handy for the things my older computer no longer can do and for travel.

My kid is something else at times. I was on gmail IM-ing with Nana. He went on Facebook and starting IM-ing with her too, using his laptop. What a kid. lol

Before I leave for dialysis today, I have to call the grocery deli and order Christmas dinner. Although I had planned on cooking something entirely different, my friend in CT suggested we go ahead and order the holiday meal because I may not feel up to cooking after my surgery on the 22nd.

It is 20 here today but nothing falling from the sky so I'm happy.
