Thanks! I figured later in the year I can keep updating the yard pics in here!

That little windchime was a BD present from last year---he's getting a bit rusty now though, but I like seeing him bobbing in the wind!

Loz, I coat all my outdoor items with a coat of car wax, even my patio furniture. Keeps the rust completely away.

I love your big bird house!

And the plant which is the 4th one down at date:8/21 at 8:43
What is it?
(I tried to do a copy/paste of the picture here but it wouldn't allow the paste. So just look back up at that date and the 4th pic down in that post.

That's a sedum Shirley! thumbup I have about 5 established ones in the yard....I bought one at Lowes the first summer we lived here and you never have to buy new ones...if you cut pieces off and stick them in the ground and keep it watered it grows a new plant! thumbup

Thanks you two....I was feeling inspired today by the sunshine and all the weeding/cleaning up I did. It'll be interesting for me to keep coming in here thru the summer and posting new pics for comparison. thumbup

Thanks Weezie! I have a bazillion ornaments/statues in the yard too, most of them you can't see in the pictures....I think of it as "decorating" another room. thumbup

I can't wait to expand the pond area.....I'd like to put pavers down near it with a bench to sit on---and have Mark build an arbor over the pond with lattice on it so I can grow vines over it for shade....

Mark likes his lawn though. I say who needs it? Really? I just want more flowerbeds.

I used to, bumble bees and fairies and frogs..
but after the oldest started walking around the yard,
pulling out every name tag, every whirlie~gig, every statue
he'd pick and break or pull apart..
and I'd have to wash the mud off, and drag them all down
to the basement..
and when mother moved in, forget it, all h#ll broke loose..
I don't think I've gotten over 3/4 of yard art I own has seen daylight in at least 6 years now...
Just not enough time in a day...

But LOVE looking at yours..
I'ts all so pretty!!!

LOVE all the things you have in your yard, loz - both the growing ones and the decorative ones! Can't wait to see how things progress this summer! thumbup

I find it so much more fun decorating outside the house, than inside -
where I can be more whimsical, ya know?

Whimsy is my middle name! lol I don't think I have much more room for statues and stuff---of course I'd MAKE room though, doesn't stop me from buying more and more!

Thanks everyone, just thought it would be neat to do a progressive post where I can watch the results thru the year. Oh and the birdhouse? When it was built I literally picked on Mark telling him it was like a doghouse it was so big....but up on the pole it looks normal...and it has a copper roof and actual functioning copper gutters! He made it by my design and I painted it!

Weezie, hopefully one day you can make it full of fun things again!

I tell ya, all that money I spent and I barely covered the containers....I still have empty ones actually. I didn't really get any garden plants really. I have a lot of seeds growing in the little greenhouse though-and I'll buy more and more plants all season. thumbup

Since the house sits on the sidewalk with no grass I like to do the porches and the front first---it's hard to have curb appeal with no front yard.

It's hard when you have a small porch....my back porch isn't too big and that's the one we use the most. I'd like to get some more of the bigger pots on the bottom stairs...make them more uniforum....if only it didn't take money! And those pots take a whole lot of dirt too! So for now I guess I'll be sticking with my mismatched pots! lol

Scrunch up those packin' peanuts inside the dirt..
it'll add lightness to your pots/container's weight,
and add bulk inside the pot that would take up soil
in your pot/container..
