With all of the lay-offs and unemployment I was afraid to ask before. Having a job to return to is a very good thing.
Do you have a long honey-do list for him? Does he have one for himself?
My brother used to drive big cement trucks for construction projects. When he was working the money was very, very good. But he put in super long days and was too tired to do the fix-its around the house. But when there wasn't much work there also wasn't much money for the projects he suddenly had time and energy for. Some of that was mismanagement of funds for sure, but still.
I kind of understand the feeling as John was teaching traditional with no income in the summers. But we did plan for that.

well exactly:
there are projects that it is like you say,- when one has the $$ one does not have the time & visa versa.

but at least we have no major bills and there is unemployment coming in.

I understand about teachers & their pay schedules. My Uncle and now my DD both are teachers.

I am going to call it a night now----I'll see you all at some point tomorrow. wavy

Good morning. I slept well and the fires kept the house warm while I was out of it. So all is well. Today for me is moving more wood from point A to point B one wheelbarrow at a time. The rains are stalling and moving south of us so it isn't raining yet. I will have some good working weather.

Have a good day Carol.

Does the weather always stay damp where you are Tina?

No the weather is mostly dry here in my desert with humidity in the single digits most of the summer. Rainy season in winter. That is nice. But we are having an El Nino year which ups the moisture for the year a lot. I am loving it but it isn't so good for some other homes perched on hillsides or below them because of mudslides. The El Nino is also sending cold air to places it doesn't usually go. So Florida and the other southern states are seeing much more freezing and crop damage and things. Not so nice.

I was just confused~I didn't think it was cold enough there for wood heating...so I figured it was dampness that caused the cold.

Cold is relative. When my grandparents moved here from Chicago they used to sit on their porch in shirt sleeves and wonder why all of the people walking by were dressed in jackets, coats, etc. After a couple of years of acclimatizing (blood thinning?) they were also wearing the sweaters and coats and such, and laughing at themselves.
Right now it is 51* outside (11* C). You might be really comfortable but to me that is chilly. I don't go out in short sleeves until temps are well over 70* (20* C).
With wood stoves in 2 rooms of my house it is still only 60* (16* C?) in this room.

Doing good....worked a few hours again today..

I'd much rather find a full time job though, waiting for someone to call and give you a few hours work once a week really bites.
