My garden has been neglected for longer than I'd like to admit. Every time I think of doing something about either life, weather, or just the thought of how long it would take kept me from doing it. Today I decided no excuses. The weather was perfect and warm and it was good to sit outside for a few hours. I haven't planted anything new but I did uncover a few tulips and daffodils that are coming up. Some of them didn't feel so healthy and I figure it's because they were competing for root space and losing. We've had a bit of a dry spell to so after I ripped out all the weeds I gave it a good dose of water. Hope all my flowers make it. I only did the big part of the garden today. I'll save the side area for next weekend, my body can only take so much. So, here is a before and after picture of what I accomplished today.

The weeds are taking over.

You can't really see it but behind the tree towards the back there was ivy growing out all over the place. I ripped up as much of as I could get to. I do that every year and no matter what it always comes back. Oh well, that and the other weeds guarantee that there will always be gardening work for me. As far as blooms go, a couple of my mini daffodils and my primroses have flowers, so far that's it.

I wish it were time here for such things. Although my spring crocus are coming up already.---I have not uncovered the ones to the outside though, March could still be bad here.

Not sure, it's always been there and we've always hated it, lol. It's some kind of evergreen, I always wear a hat when I'm out there because I don't like getting poked in the head by those needles when I'm under it.

Cheryl, you should get out the shovel and pull that shrub out if you don't like it thumbup You could replace it with something pretty that flowers into the summer.

I agree. Sometimes it is hard to kill off something. But if you truly don't like it and can't work comfortably around it. I wouldn't bother digging though. I cut them down as close to ground level as possible and put a garden goody on them until the stump rots away. You can plant something else that you might like very close by.
