I really like the colors. I don't even have a sewing machine. Can I borrow yours? I'll bet it's nice when you come in from the snow to have that to throw across your legs.

Beautiful quilt Barb....
Did you do the star as an applique? or is it sewed into the surrounding block?

I made the Swirl first an used the machine to put it on a block before it was all sewed together .
last nite I tacked each Swirl in the center. Putting tiny buttons there. I want to enlarge the pattern an use some bright material for fun.
Do you want the Stencile ( pattern) to try it . They are actually to be done by hand the whole quilt .

Your quilt ia very nice. I reaaly like the swirls. I have 3 or 4 quilt tops that need to be quilted but not gotten around to it.

I love your lap quilt, barb--it is very pretty. I cant believe that yo uhave never done it before---and to not have directions either--
Thanks......... Probably no one sews on here, dodge
I think you are wrong there---I know Tamara sews, and Jayhawk sews, and I sew---(Just got a newer singer sewing machine a few weeks ago, as my Golden Touch & Sew has a loose tension that I cannot get fixed, try as I might.) and then many of then crochet & knit too. 'also----I quilt---and this thread may well make me resume my 12 square sampler quilt. It is a quilt as you go quilt. I have all of the pieces for each square cut out, and the side pieces ripped to size.--and ta da I have 6 of the 12 squares quilted. the problem is that the lady I took my class from didnt get the templates in soon enough so she made us all ours off of hers so we could start--well she did it wrong & now my 2 ft squares are 1/2 inch off instead of 1/4 inch (which is the allowed amount for everything to work.) now the 1/2 would have been ok if I would have left it alone. But I thought it was me doing something wrong so I kept adjusting each square. well the 6th one was a 9 patch and it looks rediculous so I got frustrated & stopped. I really must begin again. Then there is my 60 inch tree skirts that I have made. I made one for me and one for each of my girls. They are all hand done.---well the tops and the quilting are hand done. of course I joined the top/fill and the back on the machine. I made one for my mom & my MIL also, but I bought pre-quilted material for the tops of them.

There are so many talented people on this forum. I wish we lived closer together so you guys could teach me a thing or two. I would even get my sewing machine out from under the cabinet in the laundry room at my ex's house.

I can help you think it out if you want to start one. I had no pattern at all for this one I made. Bought the stencil an began.
Just make the squares all the same size n do what ever you like.
I had extra squares, so I am covering my living room pillows with it . That is hand sewing an I dont like the job.
I crochet also .. Knitted some an forgot how.
Keep sewing girls ..
my dil taught herself .. Got a fancy machine that college was getting rid of .

a few days ago I got a phone cal from my youngest DD. She said mom I know what I want for my birthday. Well what she wants is for me to take a number of her DH's old shirts (I think his old navy shirts) & make a quilt top. well, then, "gee" if I want to I can quilt it. The size you ask ??? That is up to me.... 2 things: 1) this child hardly ever asks anything of me. 2) her B/D is April 25th. what to do--what to do---

You may have to make it for Christmas, Carol. But that would be neat. I am sending all of Johns jeans and flannel shirts to a friend who is making them into a quilt for Jonni. I thought that would be a cuddly memory.

I am not too worried about how to make the top, I can do that.
What I am concerned about is making it into a "blanket" as she called it.
I really think I will make the top & have one of the local churches quilt it for me.
I buy the batting & the back piece & then I am good to go !!!
but it will have to be a Christmas gift, as Tina says, I am sure of that.

Thanks Tina,
There were 7 people making squares an we sent the blocks to a lady who started it .. In florida. She did the rest .
I won it .
The ones who entered got a chance to win.. Only 7 of us
dodge
each person signed their name on each block.. It was our winter pleasure.
