Hello, a lady on my street gave me a huge orchid. But, it doesn't have any stems for flowers. There are only leaves and roots. I gave it fertilizer. Will there ever be any flowers?

Any help is appreciated.

First off, they arent continous bloomers.
Depends on the type it is .
Some like no sun
some like sun.
Some like little water
some no water.

I really don't know what type it is. I am going to try and find out.

Sorry, I forgot something. This may be a dumb question but, when you say they are not continous bloomers does that mean the orchid blooms then It stops forever?

They bloom once or twice a year. Mine used to bloom jan and for a couple months . Blooms last about 3 months.
THen again in fall. Phila. something.

Alll died last year, I think from blight we had in the gardens.

Good luck . I f it is in the sun an droops, that is a sign of not likeing full sun.

If you could post a picture of the leaves I'm sure someone could tell you what kind it is.

Another story of the orchid

It doesnt have stems for flowers, untill it is getting read to make blooms.
You will notice a green stem when it is ready..
It doesnt bloom often .. DO not give them lots of everything.
Put in the south window , not sun.

Be patient.
