I wanted to share some of my outdoor "gifted" flowers that I have.

Below is the lone remaining curly Hosta that Dodge sent me a while back. it sure looks pretty now though, doesn't it???
and there to the right is my little froggie from Lynne. I think I may need to paint it some this year.
[Linked Image]

Below here is the white & purple Echinacea that Lynne sent me when she sent me the Autumn joy.

Those are colored bricks that our relator's son sold us. the first bunch I used to edge the mulched area along the back of the house here, were free (I assume his mom paid him--it was her idea for me to use them there)
Then when I extended the rocked area and I needed more of them I bought a bunch ---
But thanks so much---I too love them.

So happy that you have flowers Tamara!!!

I've had a small bleeding heart for 3 years now - it's in the shade under my white birch tree, and doesn't grow at all. Each spring it's just a tiny mound and this year I have been graced with TWO flowers! That's it! I love those plants - why won't mine do well for me?

My lace bleeding heart is in full sun...it was one of those mystery $1 plants that I got in late fall. I never moved it when i found out what it was. I have regular bleeding hearts in full sun also...but full sun here doesn't have the high temps that you all get either.

Not sure Lynne, they love the cold for dormancy and it gets cold where you are.

that sounds promising, Tamara but I am thinking that your full sun is not as hot as my full sun is. ?? what ya think ?

I am guessing that my bleeding heart growing must wait a few years until I have a tree or such that is large enough to offer some sort of shade. why

yea I was afraid of that. But then my sun "here" is much hotter than it was out at the farm---I am thiniing with no trees here there is nothing to 'soften' the heat at all.

so l ike I say some year when I haver some semblence of shade THEN I will see about some lace bleeding heart buying--

So pretty Diane and Sheri!!!

I didn't get a picture of my first clematis this year - I hope the rain doesn't knock all the petals off tomorrow before I get to take one.

Sheri - your gardenias must smell heavenly!!! I LOVE that scent. Wish I could grow some outdoors - they are short lived indoors here and usually get bugs. The flowers we get are different from yours though - they are fuller and don't look as flat as in your picture with defined petals.

I have some August Beauty gardenias in the front of the house that have different type flowers and are bigger bushes. They smell the same though. We don't have a problem with bugs on our gardenias. The leaves turn yellow sometimes and I put Epsom Salts around them. I love them.

Yep here too--
when someone says something like "Thanks guys" they are not referring to a male group. They are referring to any bunch of people that happen to be there.

So, Sheri--that is not done just in CA why

Here is a non-stop begonia very early this morning in the shade of the white birch tree. I had found one last year but it didn't winter over and was thrilled when the same nursery got it in again this year! It's called "fire" something - will have to see if I have last year's tag - no tag this time.

A few days ago--the 25th or 26th--I was outside & noticed that the Purple Coneflower that Lynne had sent me was blooming--so I thought I would share. Isn't it beautiful????

VERY nice Carol! Both the tree and the coneflower. I like the trim you put around the tree - I've never thought to do that. And the coneflower color is so pretty - I'm glad they are blooming for you.

well, it works for rabbits but not for deer--- egad
We are hoping that next winter is not so severe that the deer come back into town again... prayers

Thanks Tamara.....Your last frost date is coming up soon----then you can post photos too.
