Just came back from a day out at my niece's house. she had the whole family over--her dad & her mom's side. Plus we always bring Rod's mom & today we brought his niece & her kids.--VERY NICE TIME INDEED bop

I got a rose in church today, so I put it in one of my bud vases & gave it to my mom,---she didn't look real happy when I showed it to her, but then later she made a big deal of it in front of the family- why
I am taking her out for lunch next week & to my favorite nursery to buy either some plants or some thing pretty for the yard as well.

and my Emily (who is not much on gifts or setiment) gave me a biography of sorts on Agatha Christy--BUT here is the deal---she bought it in Bahrain. It is is English AND Arabic. THEN she got me a Bahrain T-Shirt.----It is too small--but no worries--she is going back at the end of this month so I will be getting another one that does fit!!!grin clap
_____________________________________________________
MIL didn't wear the very nice purple corsage we got her for mom's day to wear to church today--it seems the place she lives at bought all the residents a red carnation(1 flower) corsage so she wore that (could not hurt their feelings after all)

I guess it is a good thing that I gave ours to her yesterday to wear as well, huh??

well the corsage we gave her was not cheap, & Rod is not working,---so no more of that EVER again.
and the vase of flowers we gave her as well?? well, they are down in the dining hall where she lives--she kept all of the flowers from her party that her other DIL and her sister had gotten for her in her apartment.
...............Yep pretty much done.

But hey, the Birthday party was real nice.
Turns out my Valarie's boyfriend is handy with a very expensive Canon digital camera & took lots of pictures.
PLUS: Valarie could not be with me today so I got my gift yesterday.
I got flower seeds (several varieties) , veggie, & herb seeds, 2 kinds of potting medium, a small pail to use outside, & 4 small bud vases. Plus the nicest card.
Yep a good day here thumbup

Carol, sounds like you had a wonderful day! Me, I worked, came home and took a nap, and then Aros treated me to dinner. We ordered our favorite chinese food. Now we're getting ready to do a little grocery shopping. The kids sent me happy mother's day texts which I thought was really sweet of them.

I did my finances today and they are not good. Part of my news year resolution was my goal to run a race every month. I simply don't have the extra funds this month. I can't even fully pay off my credit card, which is a first. Well, some people on my runners forum told me that I should ask them about volunteering and then being able to race for free for my work. I want to race this month and can volunteer next month so I sent them an email asking if that would be possible. If not then I'll try to run a "race pace" race on my own just to know that I can do it. This month was supposed to be my first 10k and I was really looking forward to it. Wish me luck.

Sounds good to me!!!! And in honor of that vein, I will take my mom out to eat and to buy her somethig nice that she can pick out.--(Mom is hard to please)

Hey, everyone!! My oldest (Valarie) caled me last night when they were on their ride home from her boyrfiends parents. she ask me to set up a dinner so that she could visit with her cousin who is still here visiting with grandma.
So, tonight I get to see both my DD's again and al;so my niece & her 2 boys.

Good point is the meat is already cooked, so all I have to make are the sides & perhaps some dessert.

Tamara--are you atill here??? or did we pass each other once again????

I am glad the baby is behaving so well for you, Tamara.
I am taking a break before moving more dirt and playing with sandbags. I looked at the prices of sandbags online. I am very glad that until this year I have been able to get them for free from our fire departments. I will use up what I have and then try for more freebies as they become available. Local availability really depends more on where this year's wildfires are than anything else. So a little part of me hopes they are not available. It means our flooding chances are slim.

about that grass cuttng---If you lived here I know you could cut DH's lawn--he hates to cut grass.

Today I bought 2 Lantana's and a water hyacinth--(to clean out my water)---BUT it will grown like crazy so I will just keep pinching it back. The guy practically gave it to me, so I had (haha) to take it--- shots

I just finished making some desserts for supper and after I rest here a bit I will go and prepare the sides & such. meat wil be left over beef & gravy & fried chicken.

and right now?? it sounds like it is raining!!!!

No haha but it sure is hard to get used to wearing it. Not that they get worn often..I'm always digging in something. So they sit on the rind holder more than my fingers.

I keep checking to make sure the stones are still in it... lol

yes for the most part--I still need to wash the beds my guests used--but I figure that can wait a few days---and tonight after supper I will freeze all the left over meat for future reference.

I am sure tired though---

Sorry to hear about your flowers Tamara. That happened to me last year. We're going to be getting some warmer temps this week, I'll see how far east I can blow them for you.

I've got a little over an hour left here at work with nothing to do. Stupid drugs are making me overproductive lol At least I get to leave early since I got here so early today. Don't know what I'm making Aros for dinner tonight, probably spaghetti, but I'm heating myself up a stuffed pepper. I love stuffed peppers and when I make them I always make extra and freeze them for later. I do think I'm going to have to stop by trader joes and pick up some more dark chocolate covered powerberries. Those things are so good I'm surprised I was able to make the bad last 2 days.

Yup, they make frost blankets here...you can long ones that'll cover farm veggie gardens.

Rest up Carol.

wavy Cheryl, what do you stuff your peppers with...and do you pre-char your peppers first?

I stuff my peppers with corn, quinoa, ground turkey, chopped peppers of other colors, and sliced mushrooms. I cut the tops off the peppers and clean out the insides then drop them into boiling water for 10 minutes. I let them cool a little so they don't tear too easily, then I stuff and bake for 25 minutes.

Ah...k.

I always char mine first over a flame so I can peel the outside skin off. But then it makes them hard to stuff. I like a sausage italian sauce in mine. Either way they are all delicious. thumbup

I just eat the outside skin, like you said, no matter how you make them they are delicious. Now I'm hungry, guess I'll munch on some grapes.

Mmm grapes lol

Eww...the outside skin has to be peeled off for me...no matter what I use them in. Just a weird thing I do...it's the same reason why I won't eat a fresh tomato.

I just got a response from the place where I wanted to do my race at the end of the month and they said yes! I just need to email them my age and name and they'll pre-register me for free and then all I have to do is remember to sign up for a volunteer spot for next months race! I'm so excited and happy that I don't have to give up my race over my lack of finances!

Good night Carol! Aros and I were thinking of going to petsmart tonight to pick up some needed items for our fish tank but Aros is too stressed today so it'll have to wait. My very first rose bud is getting ready to bloom! I've never had roses before and a friend of mine gave me a couple of little bushes last year. I knew they were transplanted too late last year to bloom so I'm excited to see buds on them and one almost bloom. My calla lilies just opened up too. I'll get out there tomorrow when the weather is better with my real camera and take some pics to post here.

Congrats on the roses, Cheryl. roses are not a favorite of mine. But any new-to-you-plant that is getting ready to bloom is exciting.
Good night, Carol.
I am going to bed early tonight also.

Good morning, late getting in. Think I'm getting a cold..yuck.

Still freezing out there, our snow mix is being pushed off til tomorrow...the weather station changes it's forecast every hour. rolz

Was watching the tornado reports again, praying everyone is o.k.

And I wonder how Merme is? she wasn't on yesterday.
