They must have taken the killer stuff out of our weed killers cuz that Spectracide was like spraying water on the weeds.

Today I pulled a few weeds, brought in some squash, cucumbers, a few tomatoes - no green beans yet. I put out some pine needles. I tried to turn the compost pile but couldn't because the arm I broke is still weak but I did find out that it's full of pill bugs. I looked online and found out it's because the compost isn't hot enough and I should add bone meal so I went to Lowe's.

I watered, weeded, moved rails, dug holes, inserted poles...and got mighty dirty in the process.

I hope we get rain soon, lol sounds funny coming from me but my lawn is so dry that white clover is sprouting...not a good sign.

and here I thought my white clover was sprouting because of all the rain I was getting. egad I guess no matter why it comes the white clover is not welcome.

Today I put in my new solar lights, waterd my flowers, and weeded some in the flower beds.

I was headed out to water my veggies & the ground/grass was so squishy wet that I decided the veggies in their raised beds could send their roots down to the water, so they did not need any artificial help from me.

My grandfather said, lots of clover meant poor nitrogen..I remember he'd sprinkle bags of sugar on the lawn to 'fix' it lol An old wive's tale I'm sure.

well it could be.
Rod usually spread 12-12-12 on the lawn every year. but this year with being laid off he decided that the lawn was established enough & could do without.

do ya think sugar is cheaper than fertilizer???
I really think old timers know what they are talking about after all.

I think I can buy it on sale for 2.49 a 4 pound sack, & that is not a good price in my book. every once in awhile I get lucky & find the 5 pound sacks.

so, yep, it is that much here too,and I was thinking that fertilizer was cheaper too.

We dont use much sugar here.

Only in jelly or pie.
Not sugar users.

Today I fixed up the hummingbiord feeders with fresh nectar, the thistle feeder with fersh seed, & weeded the back flower bed.

Then I went to the front & watered & fed the container flowers and my container lilac bush.

Did ya all know it is HOT out there??? lol

First l;et me say we had a T-Storm last ngiht. all in all we got 2 & 2/10 inches rain, all in a very short amount of time.

IT was so cool & wonderful out tonight. I went out to check everything.
THEN:
1) first I put up plant stakes on my flowers that needed them.
2) I weeded several areas---after all the rain it was so easy to do.
3) I checked out my veggie garden. one of my tomato plants was completely bent over---but it was not broken. I stood it back up. another one had a small brach broken dpown so I removed it.
4) I took some of my cloth tomato cloths & partially tied up 2 of my 4 tomato plants. The other 2 have circular tomato cages & so they won't need tied.

5) flwr my cherokee purple actually has a very small green tomato. flwr clap

well to give you an idea--they seem to usually start at $8.95 here.
I had to pay 9.95. This is in half gallon pots, though.

and so, of course,--I am so hoping it comes back next year...

Since I could not paint after all, I pulled more weeds, reconfigured the bricks in my water lily's half barrel, put up more braces in my flower beds, on verious flowers, pulled a few flowers to bring indoors & made more hummingbird nectar & cleaned out my 2 HB feeders.
Then I weeded my rocked area a bit & tried to cleasn off some of my brick edging. I really should go and trim grass around said bricks---

I just got in, weeded every single thing in my yard thumbup

Hoed up my pitiful veggie gardens, planted more tomatoes..also planted one upside down in an old hanging basket, planted new sunflower seeds...and planted my climbing rose.

Half gallon perennials here are never more than $6...

Dodge it's super wonderful to reconnect with you. I'm glad the petunia seeds did well for you.

Todays garden chores consided of getting a new branch pruner because I broke the old one. Also getting a new chain saw chain since I ... you guessed it broke the old one lol. Do I dare mention that I was busy breaking everything I layed hands on last year?

The country folk are none to fond of me. The guy at the end of the block wanted to have a junk yard and I spoke against it. Definitely p.o.ed the neighbors.

They haven't knocked over the mail box yet though. That could be because I haven't gotten it fixed yet. I'm thinking two ft footers, brick and mortar.

Well it just seem a little rediculous to put a junk yard on a residental dead end you know? And the idea of a guy that doesn't really pay attention to the law putting hazardous waste into our water table when we are all on wells scared me spitless.

Tk

Your on the right track there. Our township has ordinances against all that stuff.
Most townships do. No no . Even tires have to be hauled away. We pay 2 dollara a tire to get rid of them. Batteries we have to trade in for the new ones.

Odd area your in.

I'm not within a city limit I'm out in the country. But they even have rules out here. Your only allowed 5 cars. He had about 75 cars. Just a tad over the limit.

I haven't done anything in the garden except count how many of my glads are planted backwards, not upsidedown, but facing the wall rather than the walkway.
