Glad to hear Maxi is feeling better. Have fun Carol.

Tina, I am hoping to bottle up some of Nana's energy and sell it. A house full of kids all the time would wear me out.

Just in for a few while I grab lunch, my kitchen looks like a flour bomb exploded. lol

I just came in to hydrate (coffee) and breakfast (sausage biscuit) and I am on my way outside again. Lots done but a lot more to do.

In for 5 as well..just finished my wild strawberry jam, the house smells so yummy :ding:

No break in the rain yet..strange weather. It either rains for a full week or is hot and dry for a full week, no breaks. Take it easy Tina kissie

I am done for the day. 2 hours is a good workout for me. I have the cool weather and time to do more but I don't have room to make more piles of shrubs. I have six piles, 3 of those from yesterday. And each is a truckload of mostly branches from my oleanders. So now I will take some pain killer for my ankle and begin a little house cleaning. I'd rather be outdoors though.

I had a medical appointment today w/ radiology. They told me I'd only be there for 20 minutes. Well, 20 minutes AFTER I arrived, they were just starting the woman scheduled before me! I walked out, saying I'd reschedule for a day they are less busy -- and get the first appointment while I'm at it!

Then we hit the $ store, who after I did all my shopping announced he had raised all his prices to $1.59 just to keep in business.

Then we went to the grocery & although I got much new produce, I stayed on budget.

This grocery is part of a large chain & I usually shop at a different location than I did today. Today was a real adventure as they have a massive produce department which my local store does not! I gotta go back.

And, I controlled myself and walked away from millions of potted plants.

Rest that ankle Tina..do they have brush pick up where you are or do you have to haul it yourself?

Merme, sorry about the appointment. They changed our $1 store here also now its from $1.50 to $2. Glad you had fun at the new grocery store...even if you couldn't take all the plants home.

Still raining by the buckets...off to finish up supper.

Hi all,
I went and got my nails and pedicure- Katie didn't want to go... the rest of them went sightseeing.. nice to have a little time to myself... do have the 2 boys - Nicoli went to the doc with Mom and Dad for his 5 yr checkup... he says he better not have to have a shot!
Now the boys are playing school... they are so good together,,,
Hot here today- over 90 they say... got the cooler on already..
I walked out on my deck barefoot and burned the bottom of my feet- haven't done that in a while...
Well off to fix some lunch for us... gotta brew some tea for iced tea too..making strawberry shortcake for dessert too.... yum!

Tam ~ so sorry about your incessant rain!

Nana ~ how nice you got all your nails done! I bought new polish when I was out today... haven't bought any new in about a year blush so that was a real treat. Am gonna do my nails this week!

The other thing I liked about the new grocery I tried today, is that they have loose (bulk) items... you can fill a big of your choice w/ things such as lentils, couscous, chocolate covered peanuts, various types of granola, etc etc. I just had to buy small bits of this and that. I would have gotten some dried fruit varieties but Maxi dislikes dried fruit and I must be very careful because of the renal diet.

Man, I gotta shop there again! lol

I'm yawning. Must be time for some fresh coffee. I forgot to drink my morning cup again...

For all our years here (20+) we have done it all ourselves and also helped out picking up for others around us. But I do not have a truck any more and we have paid right along for the service. So now the ranch next door picks them up for me. Depending on who is working it may get done in a tidy manner or maybe not. I do tip because I have so much more than most.
I have Teddy home from school and my sofa is looking pretty inviting now. So after eating something a nap is in order.

They do pick up here for brush only twice a year, mind you we get permits and just burn it in our yards.

Never been for a manicure or pedicure at a salon ever..must be a nice treat Nana kissie

Merme, I went to my first bulk store before DD's baby shower. I was amazed(DH laughed at me the whole time we were there blush ), plan to go again next time I get a chance..it's a 2 hour drive away.

they used to have a bulk area in the dry goods section of a large grocery store here when my 30 yr old was a child. but alas they closed. Now the only "bulk" things to be bought is veggies/fresh fruits in Schnucks.

I think getting a pedicure would be heavenly--but alas I have a fungus, so nothing like that is ever to on the agenda for me.

Home from ceramics.

The pickup I am talking about is a service provided by the resort next door. We pay a membership so we can be included in the services they provide. Many people only spend weekends there and do not have access to a lot of tools. So when they do clean their spaces of dropped leaves or pine needles or whatever, they leave piles. And our green waste dump is only a couple hundred yards away from my home. I have toted a lot of wheelbarrows there. But what I am gathering now is too many barrows full.
I have also never had a professional mani- or pedicure. I either work with or hide my hands.

O.k. here the bi-yearly pick up is free. Well it's included in our land taxes..

I hide my hands too, they get in rough shape..

I tell you waht--when I get my frog fired the "fall" decoration I am doing should be done. I will show both of them then.

I need to go now---Rod is hungry so I need to make supper now---(just a bit before 5 here) I'll be back later.

Oh bulk shopping is loads of fun, Tam. I like buying as much as I want to buy and not in an amount specified by the manufacturer! lol

Years ago, my sister & I in Cincinnati belonged to a food co-op and that too was worlds of fun. We'd all take turns working in the co-op.... you know, sorting the shipments; dividing up the goods by how many people ordered it; being on hand when people came, etc. I really enjoyed that!

But one time I did myself in! lol I'd been given an empty, food-quality plastic bucket w/ lid... a huge size, too, easily could hold 25+ pounds of flour. So I thought "gee, now I can get the big order of flour, yipee!"

Well, it smelled a bit like the pickles that had originally been in it, so I washed it again, left the tight lid off of it to air it out further, and happily crammed it full of a mountain of white flour!

A week later, I opened it up and voila! PICKLES! It was all you could smell!! boohoo Well, we had plenty of flour for paper mache and playdough & clay and .... haha

Anyhoo, I know you will enjoy bulk shopping when you get the chance to try it out!

Oh, when I was doing public speaking & on stage all the time, I often had professional manicures although I've always cared for my hands since I was a young teen. But for some reason, my hair stylist back then just was "scandalized" at the thought of me appearing on stage w/ a home made manicure! why

When hands get heavy/rough usage (like mine do, too) you just gotta protect them as best as you can.... even just a little TLC goes a long way! thumbup

Gee, I'm quite concerned about Diane. I haven't seen her on since she posted & said she'd been sick & in bed! prayers
