I was thinking a Cornflower & teh Bachelor Buttons were the same too???--so perhaps the Scabiosas are in that family too???

Hmm, gonna check it out. I know my perennial is called Scabiosa..

Tamara--that is THE most beautiful "Yellow" rose I have ever seen..... ...perhaps next year it will be yellow,,,,

Here is one I almost missed.



I have a hard time keeping glads because the voles/moles like them.

That is a pretty glad.

I didnt know voles got them . I think they are killin my bulbs like tulips an lilys?
I planted castor bean in one bed to rid them? DOnt know if it works.

From what I've been told they will. I heard rabbits love lilies. I'll be finding out shortly since I planted one in the driveway bed.

I'm trying to surround my tulips, crocuses, glads and anything else that is bulb-like with daffodils. I've heard that most pests don't like daffodils or alliums for that matter.

So far I've surrounded one bed and it has protected the tulips that are planted there.

I had a bed with both in it back in the day--the moles came --they picked & chose.
all I had left were the daffs---

I'm worried about that. I know the rabbits can manage to go right around the allium to get to the dusty millers.

I bought some mesh to make boxes with, but it just seems so hard that I haven't even started making them.

That isnt nice.

We pay an rabbits slay.

Below is a shot of my bloom in my newest double ROS that we bought this spring.
I missed it's first bloom because of the heat.



second is some of my wildflowers which I think is a Blue flax. This is a second blooming.

Lynne: What I meant was I missed the very first bloom of this year of particular bush. we bought it new this spring. sorry I was not clear.

Thanks, the deep pink is supposed to be red, it gets lighter every year.

Sometimes blooms are prettier on the table than in the garden, I couldn't resist cutting this one stalk to take in, I added some astilbe leaves.

I'm not sure what these petunia type blooms are. They volunteer each year and smell wonderful. I usually only have white but this year some are lavender. I thought they were million bells but the plant nursery lady told me I was wrong and she has no idea what they're called and that they shouldn't reseed themselves. Oh well.
