I am done outside. I am looking lovingly at my napping couch.

We had a quiet day today. We cooked, napped, did some paperwork, cooked again, talked on the phone w/ family and friends. A nice day. I needed it after picking up the extra dialysis treatment early this morning.

It was a splendid weather day; 68 degrees this morning & the air so sweet and clear.

Aros and the girls only went out to breakfast today. It was cool, cloudy, and then the rain came. The next couple days look iffy so he's going to wait until the weather forecast says no chance of rain before they try to do their photo shoot. They had a nice time at breakfast anyway. Then, our internet went out. Not sure what the problem was but when I called I got a recording saying there was an outage and they were working on it. So our day was rain, no internet, very little money, and bored. Lucky for us the discount movie theater was playing Iron Man 2 and they only charge $3 a ticket so we went and watched that. Pretty fun movie. Now we're thinking about food. We don't want fast food, we cant' do a full on grocery trip until Tuesday and we can't afford to go out to a restaurant right now so we're thinking of picking something up at the store that's both quick to make and cheap to buy. Deli items are half price after 8 so we better get moving. Tomorrow I have to work but I'll still be able to stop by. Have a great night!

I worked more than my usual time allowed by my abilities today, by a couple of hours or more. I am tired but it is a good tired. I woke earlier than usual too. I am going to bed early as well. Good night all.

While I was making a grocery list today, Maxi asked me to add "wraps" because he suddenly is in the mood to eat wraps! I asked him what might he put in his wraps, wondering what else to buy? and all he wanted was "scrambled eggs & cheese". Easy enough to please this kid! But I'm thinking if I am going to buy wraps, I'll buy some sort of meats & vegetables to also go in them for lunchtime.

I just used our new printer/copier/scannner. It is an HP and I am in love with a machine! It is just such a joy to have a piece of equipment that I can easily see w/ my visual impairment! And, even better, I do not have to stand up on one foot struggling to figure out how to use it!

This printer has a large touch screen right in front which I can easily see from my chair. It is very bright & distinct. Ease of use is a delight! Touch and there you go.

Maxi got a mailing from his new school. He had to read two books this summer "The Bronze Bow" for freshman history and "Speak" for freshman English. Well I had heard rumor of some sort of "reading log" but couldn't find anything on the school's site & so I called the school. The secretary I spoke with also couldn't find anything about the logs for 2010, so she said "they probably don't have any this year!" So, he read the books. So, today he got the paperwork and yes, indeed, there is a log for each book! He was pretty upset to realize what had happened. I promised I would help him scan the chapters to fill in the logs as carefully as possible because these logs become the basis for the first two exams of the school year. If we had known about them earlier, he could have done them as he read.

The logs consist of a sheet of paper with s title for the chapter (the student must make up one if one isn't provided in the book), then a list of characters mentioned in the chapter, then a section to describe the setting, next a section to describe a "problem" in the chapter, followed by a section for a list of events and finally for a conclusion.

So you see these logs become a good record of notes for an entire book, chapter by chapter.

The teacher said the logs assist the students in active reading so they aren't dazed and passive in long books that may not otherwise hold their interest. I think that is an interesting strategy.

So we've got 8 days to get this done for both books because then he goes to camp and then I go to the hospital and soon after, school begins!

Tuesday I must take him to get measured for his shirts.

I also took a decent nap today. I spent the evening puttering around and getting ready to get Teddy off to school in the morning. I took it easy today and just enjoyed.

Not much posted since I went 'missing in action'

Went to the hospital at 11pm on the 7th and at 7:08am on the 8th..I officially became a grandma

Everyone is doing well. I'm still tired, sure felt good to get some sleep last night.

Good morning everyone! I got to work a little early today. Partly because I wanted to and partly because I couldn't fall back asleep when I woke up to use the bathroom. At least I'll get off work early today. I'm thinking of a short run around the lake later. I'm tired and crampy and don't feel up to a longer run today. I'm making my first crock pot chicken and I'm really excited to eat it later. I've always wanted to try cooking a chicken in my crock pot. It gives me two dinners us lunch meat for four days and it only cost me $4.75! I almost forgot to add water when I turned it on this morning, good thing I realized it or I would have gone home to a disaster. The weather is still cloudy and cool but it's supposed to clear up for at least a couple days. I don't mind it. I have a semi busy day at work today, not too bad. I'll see you all later!

A chicken in the crock does not always need water. They often come with enough liquid to keep themselves moist enough, Cheryl. And if you have added any veggies; onions, carrots, etc. that will also add to the mix. But as a first time without being there to watch over it, that was probably a good thing.

Good night. I am trying to stay on a better sleep schedule with school in session.

That sounds like a good excuse for me to go to bed...

I am soo wasted right now...wonder if that will cost me my Hostess button.

I have read that if one sleeps more they tend to weigh less. So I figure I should go to sleep around say 7pm every night & sleep for say 12-13 hours. if nothing more, I would not be able to eat for those 12-13 hours & I would have to lose some weight, Huh???

Lonnnnng day today!

I have a few kitchen chores to do yet and then I'll be off to bed. Tomorrow is a heavily scheduled day... a bit more school shopping for Maxi & he needs measured for his shirts.

One of my nurses gave me 5 pair of dress pants for Maxi -- in the colors permitted by the school. Her husband had bought them & then changed sizes before he could wear them... so they still have tags. Now I just have to get Maxi to try them on! I will have to also check to see if they need hemmed.

We didn't get to eat our chicken feast I had planned for Sunday because that silly chicken never defrosted! So this morning before I left for dialysis, I stuffed it & got it ready, then peeled the potatoes & put them on to soak. Maxi put the chicken in the oven at 3 and when I got home at 4:15, I put the potatoes on. So we had chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas & cranberry sauce. It was delicious on this almost fall-like day.

I am so happy for Tamara & her family. It is lovely we have a new wee babe among us.

Gotta get to my chores.

Good morning all, I was too busy to get back on here yesterday.

Baby comes home today Breast feeding didn't go well, I got a call yesterday morning from DD to get myself to the hospital as soon as possible. I landed there to here Madisson screaming so loudly she was choking herself...and DD hadn't slept in over 48 hours.

DD was feeding her every hour on the hour but the poor little thing was starved out(and had been crying all night and morning)..lost over a half pound in 12 hours and the nurse said she'd lose even more. So it was decided to give her some formula. After a bottle she slept for 4 hours..so DD has decided to formula feed. We'll help them buy the milk..I won't see my grand daughter suffer like that..I know it takes awhile for milk to come in but my gosh, it broke my heart to see her. She had lost enough weight that her hospital band fell off her tiny little hand

So on another note, Grampy is on his way down right now to pick up Madisson and bring her home from the hospital I'll have pics to share in a few hours. DD plans to post them as soon as she gets in the apartment.

aw so sad to hear that about little Madisson. But so glad to hear that this problem was easily fixed. It makes me smile to hear of your little granddaughter sleeping a contented sleep like that. I bet she will become a good baby now.
Many new moms never have enough milk to feed their babies. But it is good to know that it is something that does not have to be.

My MIL had the same thing happenng to her oldest. However, She had some milk coming in but not enough & had no way of knowing that as she was home & being a new mom had no one to tell her what the problem was until she went for a check-up. She began to formula feed (or wahtever they fed children 60 some odd years ago) & then all was well. I dont know if they bottle fed my DH or not then when he came...

I am so happy to hear that this was taken care of at the hospital.
I am glad to hear that grampy is on his way to help bring the new little family home.
