That's the ONLY statue the dog has not broke.I have 2 childs 'heads' planted in a bed....it's what's left of the slide children.
Yep!they look great.my flowers a lil droopy today.pretty warm out.I just dead headed roses.pulled a bucket of weeds and am mowing grass with a malfunctioning mower.(seems it gets hot and shuts off....)I gotta fertilize the brugs again.I've done checked them for caterpillars for relocateing.Next mow shut down,,,,,,I'll paint the last coat on arbor.

I've got three brugs in my front garden. I cut two back last winter. They are making their spring entrance. We had plenty of wind these past two weeks and two of the brugs took a beating. I'll get some pics out for everyone.

I will take a pic of mine and show them! They are growing like crazy!!! How warm does it have to be at night before I can put them out! I know I can still get frosts here right now and I would leave them in the pots they are in for now so that I can bring them in and out when I need to...but it has been in the 50s the past few nights and 70s and 80s during the day. Can I leave them out overnight?

They can stay out just not for any frost. You can always sheet them on cooler nights than the 40s.

I wish mine would grow faster......And I'm ahead of everyone else.lol I neemed them yesterday(I seen beetles coming from the soil in yard:O )I just fertilized the garden.Erected my arbor(kinda leans....gotta think on that one..maybe yank rebar out some)moved some plants around.sowed some more seeds.weeded the cacti bed.after I cool down going to play in compost pile.

I really envy some of you...you can garden right now and not SWEAT!But you probably don't have a canna blooming huh.

Yes you been HOGGING the rain....so am sure yours have grown MORE than mine.

They said fish would be hitting at 3:30 today.we we're their at 2(We actually wantred to hear what the cop was saying across the lake...so went early)The TURTLES we're not even hitting.I'm going in the tube tomorrow. I figured out what 3.12 inces of rain does in 7 acre lake, but is runoff too,but it rose on pier 16 inches& is down 9.It may go down more cause I cleaned stuff off top of drain.I got this neat lookin frog lure he's about size of thumb nail.i wish he had a 2 prong hook, but didn't wish that till fished with it(well we practiced tossing today)

My leaves on brugs are greening up more on a few.I did acid fertilizer last 2 runs.Paul james says that you can use a camillia /azealia/gardenia fertilizer for calcuim& magnesuim defientcys. So I'll see how frosty does with the change& do the other one the way have been with epson salts.

My computer still refuseing to do web pages.seems web pages not connected to internet.......

I have had mine outside for over a week now! The only problem that I am noticing is that the tips of some of the leaves and drying up and breaking off! Do you know what could be causing this? I have lost a few leaves too! Not sure what I am doing wrong?!?

Are the leaves that drying up....the ones that we're formed indoors? you could strip the leaves off.it will grow new ones, then hopefully those comeing back in will have no problems. They useually loose the leaves formed indoors.I useually keep my lower leaves picked off up till it 'Y's.

My ones in ground returning.some have 'Y'd Frosty has grown quiet a few trunks so some will be cut& rooted.seedling is still blooming(uploading soon)I can see the differance with useing acidic fertilizer.the leaves are much greener.Need to take the PH meter out for a walk.I'll be glad when something other than pink blooms.

strip them off.The new ones will come in.So what size pots you have them in now?

Here's seedling pink.still blooming.has a bud formed to open.I just added some rocks around this stump yesterday.I moved a pair of daylilly divsions into it also.I'm thinking of moveing my white picotee dwarf JMG to base of brug.

[Linked Image]

I've also got some purple jew pieces to shove in here as well.
And got buds growing on other brugs!I feel the urge to fertilize...............

Plants are STILL growing. You'll notice unknown pink grew alot.Mine average 2 ft growth a month.
I've got a BES vine growing on my Dr suess. It has fineally 'Y'd & needs to get on with it.I've also left a peice of vine on ground wondering through the marigolds.yes they work well. That plant actually gets NO bugs whatsoever.

Unknown pinks blooms
& frosty pink
And a lil frog that seems to like hanging out with unknown pink.he's their daily& has family around the pond.

Unknown is in bloom again.sure is growing good this year.this will proably reach 8-9 feet this year again.

[Linked Image]

I got 3 of the new ones that have 'Y'd out in the hexbed, just slow about getting buds started.Betty Marshall has started forming another set of buds for end of the month blooms(Betty doing good for a fresh 1st season cutting too)

Cypress Garden& Knightti......are engulfed in other flowers and have not 'y'd.is a oklahoma rose hideing with them too.guess I let that butterfly bed take them over. But unknown pink smells SOOO wonderful.I wish frsoty pink smelled as strong.

I think i've spent more time with seedling the last 2 weeks.I keep removeing eaten leaves all day long& everytime I walk past it it has another cat munching. My others are notheing like it& they leave the tray of seedlings alone.I did sit in pool room the othernite beside window.....just to smell it.the fan in window draws the smell inside later at night...course could have been the crinuims too...lol or 4 pms..it all just mingles at night.

No I don't......My buds dropped on Daydreams this morning tears I just LOOKED at them yesterday. All 3....gone badday It's a pink anyway.but a double...I've not seen before.BUT Dr Suess still has buds. One plant has 2 the other has 3 and the potential of more clapAnd this 1st flush will be lighter in color cause will be earlier in season. Its always been after Aug for Dr Suess to bloom.Ones a trunk cut wintered over That 'Y'd this spring, the other a re sprouting, but relocated it this spring.so this one will look more yellowish turning orange than the fall colors(which I love.)One plant is grown in more shade& it don't wilt in the afternoon(as its not getting baked tx style)

shots everyones plants look great! thumbup

Ok what's the difference between brugs and angel trumpet? I had(several yrs ago) a purple people eater from some catalog. It looked like the pictures I'm seeing here. Last yr. I found a plant over my bank blooming what looked like that same plant. I transplanted it to my garden. It blooms at night. They are purple and white. I'm not sure if this is a brug or angel trumpet.

Dauntras flowers are like devils trumpets, they point upwards& a few may hang horizontal.(Diane grows a whitemoonflower bush dauntra.)They come in mostly white& yes.is a purple people eater dauntra.even a few doubles& triples.I grow a yellow double dauntra.
[Linked Image]
its just burried this year in 4 pms.their seed pods are round and swell and are spiney spikey looking. The plants themselves vary as to hardiness, but grow wonderful in fertile moist soil.I also grow stramonium which has small flowers white with purple throat. The smell reminds me of them smartty candies. The metals are the best growers.

Brugmansias flowers hang downwards& are hardy to zone 7 otherwise brought indoors& grown in pots(or grown in ground then wintered in pots).blooms in white/peach/yellow/pink shades& comes in doubles& singles.Look more tropical& have exotic blooms that smell great and some change colors as they open.flowers are pendent& seeds if pollination occurs are beanlikeseedpods.

your dauntra could be cornupocia if its a double
caerlea dauntra is a single light purple.
most brugmansias are called angels trumpets&dantras called devils trumpets. The differance is how the flowers hang.both are fragrant both open at night.

Continued from above........,

I can't believe I started all these from small cutting in water in the house . They got good size with healthy leaves and then they got spidermites and dropped leaves but..., by that time the weather was getting warmer and I could put outside , after hardening them off ~ I put in ground and boy did they grow ~~untill~ we got rain for two months in a row and bugs and slugs were having a field day on them!! uhuhh Like I said above TLC brought them back once again~~ They sure are resilient !! thumbup Here they are now...,

Unnamed Pink on right~~~ Pale Yellow on left

[Linked Image]

Adora on right ~~ Cotton Candy on left~~ Purple datura (started from seed) in front middle
[Linked Image]

Another one of Njoynits Unnamed Pink!!

[Linked Image]

I forgot to get a picture of the one in the pot I'll do it later today,

Ohhh ~~ By the way IF anyone has a Dr. Suess brug ~ I'd love to have a cutting I'd be happy pay postage!!

You guys are making me crazy...I've GOT to have some brugs... devil...Is it too late to put some in my yard--we probably won't get our first freeze until late Oct.

Njoynit--have you tried sprinkeling black pepper on/aaround your plants to keep the cats off??? We used that trick several times to keep cats out of their favorite places in my yard.

Here's one. Not sure if it is a brug or something else. I tried to get the pic while opened. Missed it. They seem to only last one night. I'm not much of an early bird, but I'll try to get one open. I was surprised to find this one as small as it is blooming. There are others, larger.

Diane--that's absolutely beautiful!!

I've been watching around town, and haven't seen any brugs in peoples yards. Thought I saw one, but it had daylilly type leaves--maybe some type of amaryllis--also not seen much around here.

prayers for dodge's brug!!!!

Buzzy--That DOES look like a datura--my purple one has wider leaves. It has some buds on it now. They look like okra!! clap

buzzy that is a dauntra. Dauntra Stramonuim.Tatula.It has smaller flowers than the other dauntra.they are kinda white with purple centers.are some with a liliac tint to the flowers liliac le fluer. The flowers rarely open completly, but are still pretty and smell good.those spikey seed capsels will have anywhere from 300-500 seeds EACH.they smell like smartty candy.I moved mine this year to a spot at back of my cacts bed.I want it to reseed here. it gets lots of hummer& hawkmoths too.

yep charles changes colors.he looks different in the fall.so does Dr Suess.
My charles is being stubborn. The one thats bloomed....hasn't since April. The ones that not 'y'd still hasn't 'y'd but the BES is growing very well on it.where my other BES vine in a shadier spot is barely growing and not even flowering yet(maybe it needs an overdose of fertilizer?)Charles needs to get his butt in gear in my yard and do something. He ALAWYS wants to wait till the fall& I get 1 maybe 2 flushes.I tried cheating!I took a trunk a cut and it bloomed in April. Its not growing buds.the others not 'y'ing.jean pasco is still not 'y'd.oh and seedling pink original plant.i'm thrilled with it.its fixing to bloom the 1st time and grew almost 5 ft before it 'y'd...the flowers will hang above the B&B salvia....just wait. It'll be this week too.maybe even on my anniversery...............

I've not checked the buds on daydreams yet today. They we're still curling yesterday& SIL thinks they'll stay and grow.I just know they will curl up and falloff& drop...maybe they want hotter weather.will be 90s today, drier air too.It was awesome this morning.it was 62!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I never feel 60s in July.It was 67 yesterday...nice ,but today rocks.its 72 now on way to 92.Diane Daydreams is suppose to be darker pink. Its a double.maybe I'll give it some beer.

My brugs are still growing but not buds yet. I think I need to get some fish emulsion. That seems to be working for Diane and njoynit! I have been feeding them but haven't given them fish emulsion. I will take some pics tonight and show them to you!

Beautiful and I love your little kids garden decor. That is adorable.

I cannot figure out why this plant is stated to be so poisonous why every bug in the world think it is a super salad.

yes but sometimes I flip the leaves over.....and find dead bugs.but yet won't kill them locust grasshopper things.

Dodge.I'll have plenty of cuttings this fall& am thinking of removeing a few 'plants' from the ground that have multiples of(like seedling pink whiskers X butterfly cross.)I really don't need 4 of same plant in ground.then have 2 frosty pinks.and if charles don't get his act together he'll be replaced(and will go to a different family likely goldness kornett,an aurea type)I won't have much on my new aquired cuttings unless they've grown more, then got that nugget of versicolor orange....and its 4 ft,while the cutting is barely 2 ft.

My yard smelled good last night.Ya'll would be proud of BIL.He figured out all on his own that unknown pink was the one putting out all that smell& that it covered frosty pinks 3 flowers that we're open.I even tried telling him was the 4pms too...he didn't miss a beat.said no thats a different smell& you don't smell them when near the unknown pink, told me to stand on sidewalk...said only smell I get is unknown pink.but he's a bad boy too.He tried to close a flower up on one of them night hummerbird moths...said he was shutting the door.....Dianne the blush is neat when it starts on the flowers.I seen one last night about 9 pm it was still all white but the edges of bloom we're starting to turn pink.looked like blush.I was doing pictures of other creatures& got some good shots last night and then missed a good shot cause didn't have camera on me.

That lil kid deco....is the ONLY ONE my dog has not destroyed...well he's hubbys dog. He's worse than a kid.

ok dodge.I'll let you know.

That bud is still curled, but its growing.

I'm excited cause we will be getting rain for like a solid week.my nice dry weather was brief and now back to muggy steamy humid(but only 84)they don't even give the day expireing of flood watch watch anymore...they say 'till further notice or warning ends' and the other famous line'no change in decrease of flooding expected'( the flooding is closer to hubbys work on the Trinity river in Liberty co than here)

I'm just gonna wait on my 60% increaseing to 70% this afternoon of periods of heavy rainfall.I get to test my roof.(still trying to stop a few rita leaks)now testing aluminum coating, cause that roof patch crap just didn't make the cut.I presure washed the deck yesterday(and some plants...lol)I was feeling buds yesterday trying to guess who'll bloom 1st Dr suess or charles..charles feels fatter dr feels thin, but had bud longer. But they got watered well cause forgot was doing the drop run hose thing so hex bed got very well watered for 3 hours.(plus the grass around it..lol)

I like the le fluer one too.Its just like that but the flowers have a blueishpurple tint.thats a lovely shot.I've not took pics of mine like that.Thats stramoduim tatula.I've NEVER had it grow over 4 ft but they say it will grow 7 ft tall and wide.I do belive it will grow 7 ft wide.I took mine out of the flowerbed cause the bugs love its leaves(Guess my bugs are drug addicts or something, surprised it don't kill them, but they look ugly)Now I don' have to look at its leaves.I'm hopeing it reseeds here well for me.I've been opening spiney pods with pliers and twisting seeds out.(Don't worry I will still save seeds for fall fling)

[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

This is seedling pink original plant from re sprout. It 'y'd at JUST the right point. The flowers hang over the B&B salvia this is what looks like flower grown in full sun.earlier shot a few replies up of same plant from cutting grown is softer pink, but it gets 5 hours of sun(if had sun right now it would be nearing a shade time about 11:30 till about 1-2 then back in sun 2 more hours.most its sun is morning sun.)

I got a bud poked out on charles.
My twisted buds are still growing on daydreams.
Dr suess has started to form 3 new buds& another plant of dr suess has 'Y'd

I need to make a new brug bed.I got my accidental cuttings from dogs/hubbys accidents.very tempted to start down my sidewalk...but KNOW a arbor is going over it in the future.

wonder how dianes charles is doing?

Charles is in bloom
[Linked Image]And guess tomorrow night is Dr'Suess night.I had a lot of flowers open on frosty pink tonight...
[Linked Image]
all on one side.Unknown pink is loaded.my buds are still twisted on daydreams.got a nice shot of seedling.I'm sorry everyone, but I'm just in brug-heaven.I got a 'Y' on 2 plants.versicolor orange& something that the tag faded on.And Diane's Strapeliad-carrion flower bloomed!the rain this morning broke one of the stems flowering.so Its in windowsill.I keep smelling it.the flower bloomed at base of segment that broke off.I guess it will stay in that basket.I enginereed a bread tie for support.

That is beautiful, but whats a Brug. We have some Angles Trumpets and the flowers look the same, but our plant looks totally different, ours grows like a bush.

Very cool, I tried to attach a pic of our plant, but the drag'n'drop method didn't work, and its the only method I know. I guess we have some angel trumpets and some dauntras. Thanks for the info! We have some friends in Ohio that call 'em moonflowers.
