I never wore a wedding band, Dodge. My hands are too gnarled to wear one comfortably.
But you need never take yours off. Happy new year to my eastern friends. We had crackers, dips and veggies for snacking. My daughter went to the local restaurant for the party. Just a short walk. But Ted and my older son and I stayed home.

We got a foot of snow yesterday followed by freezing rain through the night. Madi only went to bed at 11pm so I followed her within minutes.

Cheryl: DD has her own apartment 30 min drive from here.

Dodge: My mom wore hers for 5 years then switched it to her right hand...it's been 26 years and she still wears it. So you do what feels right in your heart

Happy new year and good morning. I went and did my pet sitting chores for the neighbors and am home for the day. I'm hoping the winds die a bit so I can go out and rake up some litter. It is to be warm again and all week long. Winter here makes the gruesome summers worthwhile.

Yup..still plan on moving to Tina's some day

It seems so unreal to think of raking at this time of year..mind you I hate the heat so I wouldn't fair well with your summers.

I don't always fare well with my summers. Especially the older I get. I dread the cold days and I dread the hot ones. I guess I am lucky there are so many in between ones.

It would be nice to have Fall weather for most of the year.

It would be better than nice---when you are going across the country from your house to Tina's--please stop by my place & pick me up---year round fall sounds good to me as well...

Hey everyone! We're having really nice weather today. Mid 40's, sunny, not windy. I ran a 5k this morning that included a polar dive. It was surprisingly a lot of fun.

Did you jump into ice cold water in your shorts at the end?

I pray each year we do not have a "real winter" like we used to have when I was young--and lots of years of late I have gotten my wish---it seems wehen we do have harsh weather, it doesnot last for a very long time.


I bet Madisson is getting bigger every day---

You get used to the snow...it falls a foot at a time it seems.

She is slowly growing...she's tiny featured. She weighs and measures under the average for her age but she is chubby so it all works out. Weighs a whole 21 pounds

sounds like she is doing well to me---

and I would think if she is tiny featured, she "would" measure under average---

about the weather, I guess you do get used to it. One of the teachers here was from up in Northern USA--& she said the snow we had was nothing (we had had enough to close the schools that time) & that we just did not know how to drive in it---so I took from that that people DO adjust to the weather.

I've driven in snow so bad that the front bumper was pushing it We were at a hockey tournament and never noticed how bad it was until we were leaving...

Well Carol, sorry to say but I must go to bed...almost 12 here and Madi might be up early again.

well I have driven in snow that was so bad that they could not plow the roads enough to keep up--On most roads there was jsut one lane open & mostly just places for wheels of the cars to fit--but I was a sweet young thing then & I guess I was fearless.

Good morning all, it stayed colder out and our freezing rain only lasted a short bit now it's snowing again. It looks beautiful out there...all the snow is stuck to the trees.

It is snowing here , blowing an 26º
And I too thought the snow was beautiful an walked down to get the Paper. After I got in. I read the chill factor was but 10º eek didnt feel too cold.

Only monday an tuesday snow an it is to quit. Very greatful for the no snow christmas an new year.
Got out to 6 places to visit an had one in .........She brought me a truck load of Material
Sewing ........Her mom in law died an she was clearing the loot.. I already made a fine cover for my computer chair.. Free.. THey had no where to get rid of the stuff , I mentioned I was a sewing freak also. I went to the wake this summer.. So I feel blessed again.

Winter weather---sheese----

here it is NOT snowing but it is SOOOOOO cold out. 28*F right now--and the wind is blowing & howling like some type of "bad" change is afoot.

I guess it has to happen huh??? When is spring again ??? (I can't wait)

although last night I did set up a small table top herb garden that I got for Christmas--now to wait for it to grow--- (I just planted the parsley & the basil)

gonna keep the oregano for my raised beds outside this summer.

Driving in snow or ice around here is always disastrous. We just aren't prepared for it and people just need to stay home because we're not safe drivers and the roads aren't cleared. Once when we had ice and TV said the roads had been cleared I went to work and my entire parking lot was a sheet of ice. I can't move north. I'm too old to adjust.

Sheri---if I were you, well, if I were anyone lucky enough to be living & have family down south, I would NEVER even consider moving north---for many years now I have wondered why it is L live here--the answer of course is my family is here--but I promise if we were alone here, we would not be here long and trust me, there is plenty of colder weather further north...

BTW: We are having a tropical heat wave here---it is 30*F now---

I would want to run when the carolinas hit their 90 º days........Killer of plants an people.
Have no Idea how they live thru that.. However I hear Orleans an texas are even hotter.
How hot is Hawaii ? Any one know?

Well, see Dodge--that is the thing too--In the summer it is VERY warm here too. 90's happen---

Illinois has warmer climate than I
Seldom see 90.........Hated when it happens .. Like in 2010

Hi all...just got in, brought the baby home..the roads are getting slippery, yikes.

glad you are home safe & sound, tamara---sorry about the roads--I hope you do not have to do any more traveling on those type of roads

I just finished supper--and we had Strawberry Shortcake for dessert----sometimes you just DO NOT need the savory part of a meal, ya know ????

Sounds delicious...we can't get strawberries here this time of year.

we can, for $5.00 a pound--but I got these in the freezer section---but hey they are still strawberries & NO they were not near that much--else I would not have bought them.
