A lazy day does sound like a great idea...

Not for me though, as soon as DH gets home I have snow to clear for the big storm heading our way again tonight. Calling for a foot and a half this time, just great. 3 feet in 3 days...when is spring again?

Good grief...this 'global warming' weather is not right. I had my windows open til 2am this morning...it was still in the high 60's then....now it is so freaking cold and windy outside and gonna get down to 29°?????

I am walking on crutches right now...not a happy camper about that but blessed to be alive so I'm not b!tching about it. (yet)

Well I don't know where the global warming it but it's not here.. our dusting of snow turned out to be 9 inches ... the day before it was 60*... so at least the last snow was almost melted before we got the new stuff.. the 100mph winds blew down our fence in 4 places and almost took some of the kids toys with it... Joe tried to fix it last night but with the snow on top of it was to heavy for him to pick up.. our son is coming tomorrow to fix it temp till it's warm enough to really go it right-... Carrie's fence went too but her posts are broken too.. they will work on hers too...
It's our Nicoli's birthday today- 7... he has had a hard time lately- docs can't find what is wrong but are leaning to celiac disease even though the blood tests are neg- we are getting glueten free stuff now to feed him... but its expensive and a learning curve... he is so tired and lethargic with the meds they gave him that help with the pain he is having... hasn't been to school in 3 weeks... he went to today and carrie talked to his teacher - she has celiac disease to and so does her sis who is a teacher there too... so they will give us some good information too... Cheryl I know you have this too if you can send me any info too would greatly appreciate it.. going to Whole foods tonit to see if we can find some child friendly stuff for him... and think I will learn to bake bread for him too... just need a good receipe .

Well off to do some house stuff and decide what I will do for dinner...

I thought global warming was:
an increase in the average temperature of the earth''s atmosphere (especially a sustained increase that causes climatic changes).

so not just warming going on--extremes in any direction.

and we sure have had extreme weather---and ours has gone back & forth from one extreme to another like Cindy's has.

cold (41*F) today here too Cindy---and very windy--with rain to follow---it was unseasonably warm yesterday and the day before.

I am going to make soup tonight---wish I could just go buy fried fish....

Junie, you are right. Because it's called global warming, people have the misconception that it's supposed to be warmer. True for some areas but not all. I don't believe it has anything to do with us though. I believe it's a natural process our planet goes through and has gone through before. Hence the last ice age. Humans survived then, they'll survive again.

Trying to figure out if there's anything that I can do different with my hair without drastic change either. It's too thin to do too much and I don't want to cut it short either.

Good luck with that...been dealing with it since I was 16 years old and I can't cut it...too emotionally attached to it.

My hair is extremely thin---and I DID get a wig--I wear it when I dress up.

I have often thought to get my exsisting hair cut in layers though---and yes it would not look as nice as someone would with thick hair, but I think it would be worth a try, Cheryl---after all the one thing about hair is it will always grow back... why

Hope your grandson feels better soon Nana kissie

Took my cast off today and chucked it in the garbage...my hand better be healed thumbup

Cheryl, You could buy clip in extensions, my daughter has them...only takes her 10 minutes to put them in. Adds a foot of hair in minutes. I do agree with layers though...adds volume.

Waiting on our next storm tonight. DH shoveled the roof and blew away all the snow from the shoveled out windows once again.....and the process starts again tomorrow.

I hope your hand heals well, Sunny. I also hope this storm takes it easy on you.
I hope your grandson does not have celiacs, Nana.
I didn't do much at all today. I'm very lazy feeling. I made baked fried chicken and a pasta dish tonight. Tossed a few vegetables, raw, on the side. I'm thinking as we ate so early, I may need to bring out some kind of dessert.

All seriousness aside, though...I have always taken my casts off... sometimes after just a few days...and now that I have arthritis so bad I kinda regret doing some of my "Cindy's". boohoo

It will be 2 years ago March that I fell off a ladder when I was planting my window boxes and broke my left arm. I took my cast off 3 or 4 times but would get worried that my arm would heal crooked and go get it put back on. Very painful every time. Duh..... Finally they just put me in a soft cast. We're living like George and Jane Jetson. You'd think someone would come up with something better than a hard cast.

Oh Sunflower, I am too "conditioned" to ever take a cast off before it it's time.............ok, not that I have ever had a cast to take off! notme I just pray everything heals nicely....hope you didn't get some of that terrible weather we have been hearing about in CO. Honesly up here in WY we expect the 90mph and blizzard like conditions...I am not missing them this year, but the weather patterns sure seem a little crazy to me! By the way....I am back....my sis had a knee revision, that is when a knee replacement goes wrong. When they tell you it is twice as painful and the recovery twice as long...believe it! But she is going better and after being with me (such a nurse bow NOT!!!) She will be going home to her house and DH. She is such a trooper, I only hope if I ever have problems she is at my side. It is good to be home and maybe get some gardening chatting in! I did get some onion seeds planted a few weeks ago and started some broccoli and cauliflower seeds yesterday....spring will come!!!!!! grin flwr applaud

Good morning, worse storm of the Winter upon us(so they say once again)....I can't even see out my windows let alone anything else out there cry We are under a 'you're gonna lose power' warning again.

Charging the batteries...so I can treat you to a peek of my lovely winter later haha

Glad you sis is better Bobbi. Oh and Cindy...I wore extra large yellow gloves(you know those long plastic ones) to do dishes, they slid right over the cast.

The first few nights I had my cast on I'd hit myself in the head with it when I was asleep. Drove me nuts.

Cindy, think paper plates.

Cold and windy here Sunflowers.

I hate to see it down there, but I'm kind of glad we've not seen one of those bad storms yet! We've had a little snow here, but nothing bad, they got it worse north and east of us....and of course south!

It is good to be home and I am looking forward to getting back to "normal", now if I can just figure out what "normal" is why

Hi all,
We have had a busy day today too... went to Whole Foods today to see what gluten free stuff we could find for Nicoli.. found a bunch of mixes for him to have for bread, brownies, choc chip cookies... biscuit mix ..pancake mix.. I made him choc cupcakes for his birthday party... they were a hit- he ate two and was amazed cause his tummy didn't hurt... happy kid today... .. we found him fish sticks and chic nuggets too and his favorite french toast too... and mac and cheese... so I have been elected to keep him in bread and snacks for his lunches, the bread I made is pretty good too.. slices nice and actually tastes like bread so hope he likes it too..
Well better go and get it wrapped up .. hope he likes it too..

I am so glad, Nana. In our stores, if you look, there are gluten free things popping up all over. And they are not too pricey. Keep an eye out as you shop.

My Momma has celiac disease--and the older she gets the more foods there are out there. The bigger stores have whole sections that cater to people with that disease.

She makes some type of popover and freezes them, so as to have them when she wants them. I am guessing she fills them with whatever & eats them like a sandwich. A lot of her stuff one cannot even tell it is made of her flours. and FYI--if you happen to have a mill to your mixer, use it on rice. My DD makes my mom "flour" out of rice with hers. and heavens knows rice is cheap where rice flour is not so cheap.

I wish your grandson good luck with this.

Glad you were able to find some things for your grandson, Nana. I agree, there are more and more gluten free foods popping up. I'm too lazy and too busy to make my own bread so I buy the Udi's brand. If he's been officially diagnosed with celiac you can write off all the special things you have to buy for him. Just save your receipts. Depending on how much extra money you spend on food for him, it might be worth it. It's tough on kids when they can't eat "regular" food anymore and I applaud you for going out of your way to make things for him that he can eat and that taste like the food he knows. The gluten free bisquick mix is very good as is the Pamela's mixes, in my opinion. I made the Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookies not too long ago and thought they were delicious. The biggest thing that I'm still learning is to read ingredients on everything. I mean everything. Just a few weeks ago I ate some red vines only to find out later that they have wheat flour in them. I thought they were candy and that they'd be safe. A lot of regular foods are naturally gluten free too. If in doubt, I've had a lot of luck emailing manufacturers to find out if their products are gluten free. Celiac dot com is a great resource for ingredients, info, and recipes.
