Those are so nice to see. Do you have any deer running around the area ? Something ate my white crocus last nite.
dodge Thanks dodge, no deer, I'm out too much in the open. Not close to any woods

Yup, must have been the start of spring yesterday, my peas and lettuce poked up through the ground! And I got my worm farm from the UPS man yesterday and the worms will come either today or tomorrow. I am blessed to have a neighbor that will pick up my worms at the post office and dump them in my worm farm because we will be gone....leaving in a few hours. We are weighing the pros and cons about taking our motorcycles!!! In March....in Wyoming?!? The weather is supposed to be nice this week. Sunflowers....72? Got any snow left? I hope it doesn't melt too fast for you, Have a good week all

So if I have any doubts I look at that book in the library! I would be more concerned with vegiesm but with flowers, I would think that if they start to grow you have it made!

Thought I'd show off the work from today... Shape of the new bed on the side of the house. Ignore the size of the Rhodies...I'm just waiting for them to bloom so I can trim them back. Front of the house before... Dug out the new shape of the bed... Another shot of the new shape... More pictures in the next post.

No. I never tried to freeze it. My mom took some and canned it, but I didn't like it canned.

My husband won't share the horse poo, he needs it to fertilize our feed fields. Today I am expanding my vegetable garden..one scoop of sod at a time. I need more room for potatoes. What I wouldn't do for a small tiller.

Expanding your garden--wonderful---I used to raise potatoes--we usually had enough to eat until sometime in january. WE kept them in our cellar--but any cool place would work. I had them laying all seperate so if there was a bad one it would not spoil others. gee they were good. We had a small tiller--my dad gave it to us---But since my DH does not like to keep anything he is not using daily, he gave it to my DD--and LORD knows she is not using it. I complained, so when we moved my garden, he cut the size in half--I guess now I cant say we need one, huh ??-----

Sunflowers, I came across a vertical option for potatoes a couple weeks ago. I pinned it on my pinterest board so I'll have it when I'm ready to try potatoes in a year or two.... Growing potatoes vertically

Oh well Carol, no tiller means less work for you Jenn, that's a great idea. Here you can buy the special bags that zip open at the end of season..the potatoes just fall out. I've also grown them in a bag of soil when I was a Spark/Brownie leader. I dug out a new 4ft by 12 ft section today...whoohoo. Oh, DH came in and said it was 5ft by 14ft.. Time to measure my garden.

I was informed my plants were afflicted with a form of Rust Fungus. Trimmed them back more than I would have liked and went to buy some fungicide. I'm worried for my plants! ; ;

Oh, DH came in and said it was 5ft by 14ft.. Time to measure my garden. well I would not have used the tiller anyway--DH would not have let me---- 5 by 14 huh?? and now you know the size of my new garden----but I think I am going to grow myself some potatoes in a tub this year---at the end of season I can dump the soil out in our very low yard----although that wire thing that Jenn posted about looks interesting for sure.....

Fungus and bugs are nasty. Oh I also couldn't figure out why I couldn't get rid of 'white fly' by my old white fence. Well when I took the fence apart to make the new one I noticed...the white flies had nested under the plastic caps that cover the 4 by 4 posts. It was full. So last night, I cut the rose bush to the ground, sprayed it with horticultural oil..then dug up and moved the old soil and plants and chucked them. They were overgrown anyway..hoping that solves the problem. I just need to divide some perennials from another spot to refill the new bed.

Yesterday I filled the bed of our pick-up truck with aged horse poo, laid newspaper over the front bed that I dug out the other day, and spread out the poo. I had just enough to complete the front bed and get the first 3 feet of the next bed done.

I planted early and late potatoes, red varieties. Norland and Red Pontiac, never planted that kind before. Today I also divided and moved some daylilies...slowly getting things in order.
