Not what I consider hot here yet. Warm with cool foggy mornings. Cool nights for sleeping.
Originally they said hot this week. But they have backed off a bit on the temps. I really love it.

I finally made it....I have slept about all day...was up all night with NO INTERNET... boohoo
...so I played Solitare all night...didn't win one single game.
They finally got it (internet) fixed this afternoon.

Nope...I can't stand to have my hair in a ponytail...or braided...or any foreign objects holding it back... lol ,,,it has to be wild and free.

I liked mine unencumbered too. But there were short term times when pulling it out of the way saved me some pain.

I actually had my hair in a ponytail when the stove exploded...it literally melted the bottom 10-12" of my hair together...if I had not had it pulled back I would have ended up losing all my hair.

Hey everyone! Long time no see. I've been dealing with some personal issues (hubby says I shouldn't brag about being able to get a rx for a therapy pet, lol) and been hanging out mostly on fb. So, have I missed anything? I posted a few pics in the birds forum and the critter forum that I took earlier today if you're interested. The kids have their last day of school on Friday. Saturday I'm running the Rock&Roll 1/2 marathon (yipee!) and starting next week I'm no longer taking my car to work unless I need it for something afterwards. It will be biking and walking every day. The kids are going to Milwaukee again but not until mid July. They can't wait. Other than that things haven't really changed much around here.

Good Morning all, not sure when last I was here, read back over for a ways and didn't find my last post, guess it has been too long! After my DH decided last Thursday was going to be his last day of work we decided to have a party to celebrate that and his birthday, which was also last week, so got busy planning that and had 35 people show up, our good friends and lots of people from his work. It was a great party but took a lot out of me! Then it was work work work to catch up on the quilting I set aside while getting ready and cleaning up after the party! Now DH has gone to TX to visit his family, mom, sister, niece, nephew and kids! I looked at the temp down there and glad I didn't make this trip! Our weather is wonderful right now! But the computer says we are going to get up to 93 on Friday boohoo I've yet to have to turn the air on...but Firday may be the day!

I have long hair and I wear it in a bun almost all the time. It could get caught in my long-arm quilt machine! And when on the bikes it goes in a french braid, cause I hate trying to brush out the tangles! Only time I wear it down is when we go out or have company and that doesn't happen very often!

Happy Birthday Lola

When it is long, I wear my hair both up and down. Right now I usually have it is 2 of those long thin baretts. one makes it a ponytail like & the other holds it to my head.

Cheryl, I do so hope you are feeing better---perhaps with the kids finally out of school your life can slow down a bit & hopefully that will help.

Sorry you did not sleep well, Cindy. kissie

Happy Birthday, lola !! (what is she geting special, Cindy?)

and yes, perhaps she and Sunny's new foal will share a birthday.

I get to stay home today---I am at such a loss-- lol I will do some housecleaning & perhaps get started on my pre-quilted blanket that I bought for Emil's baby.--I only have like 2-1/2 months to get it done.. shock

That would be cool to share a birthday with the baby horse!

I don't know of anything I could do extra-special for Lola today...she is treated like a queen every single day. Might make her spaghetti for supper...her favorite meal.

It's hot here...we may need to do this.....

Bobbie...I would possibly wear my hair in a bun if I knew how to do it....seems like that would be cool in the summer and not as dangerous....lol

My daughter twists her long hair into a bun and holds it there with a chop stick. Not sure I could have done that with my long hair. I am so very glad my gray added some body to my hair and I can keep it short now. (My dark hair was so very straight it wanted to stick straight out from my head without the weight that length gave it).
My daughter also shaved a square out of her hair just above the nape/neck. She had a target tattooed there. When she sits with her back towards me on our wrap around desk, I so want to take my dog training water bottle and aim for it. I have a couple of times. If she complains I tell her I'm gonna make a rubberband gun.
We do have fun here.

Instead of my usual nap, I got together bags full of food for some hard working down-and-outers. The resort next door has really begun to take people in and expecting them to labor hard for RV space rent and electricity. But that doesn't feed them. A friend of my daughters is one of them. Her own grandmother is helping her out with food, etc. But the latest father and son combo is needing a hand up. So I get to empty my shelves and make room for fresher food. (I tossed all of the outdated food I found. I had thought I had gotten rid of all of that already. But I found more).
I feels good to have some space to move a can from one place to another in my pantry.

Hard times are upon everyone, makes me thankful that we can get by..most are not so lucky..so nice of you to help kissie

I've been checking on that horse all day..she is over due and better pop soon.

Spent the afternoon picking wild strawberries..such a nice treat to have jam in Winter thumbup

All that talk of hair is making me want to cut mine some more..I hate how it drags in my face.

My area is hard hit still by the economy. 11.9% unemployment rate and amongst the highest in foreclosures. A lot of small businesses are closed up. It is sad to see. We also have a great climate. If you must be homeless, this is not a bad place to be stuck outdoors. So there are a lot of needy people around. I just wish I could do more.
I hope your mare and foal are alright.

She's probably out there in the barn sleeping with the horse...I know I would be. I guess since I'm not used to those "natural" things they make me a nervous wreck. When that cat was having the kittens out in my yard (Sparta's mommy) I was a lunatic....I needed sedated..... blush

I love watching animals give birth. I woke my kids to watch neighbors' cats and dogs doing that. It is a wonderful life lesson.
I hope Sunny is sleeping with a new foal in the barn.

There's no rain in our forecast here...and a lot of farmers who need it badly.
I can't even remember when the last time it rained.

I hope you get your rain tomorrow, Carol....send some this way....

Well still no foal...we are calling the vet later to come in and check her. I am starting to get worried although we can still see it kicking inside her.

I have a full day of errands and am so tired from being up all night. DH is on 'foal watch' today. I'll be gone most of the day but I promise to post as soon as I get some news.

I usually use a size F crochet hook or a sharpened pencil. The pencil comes in handy sometimes!

So Sorry there is no foal yet, thought for sure I was going to wake up to good news.

We are dry, dry also, but we are not having the fires like Colorado. But all it would take is a spark and these grass lands would would go up in a big hurry. We are supposed to get hot by tomorrow so we are all hoping we don't get a spark.

I'm off to Rapid today to pick up my sis from her last replacement surgery. She is doing really good, was released early because she can already get out of bed without assist.

Have a Great Thursday all flwr

Good Morning,

It is getting warmer here today already- so very dry... we water every day it seems and our grass is still dry and crackling... was 100 todays ago- cooled off yesterday to 70.. and now warming up again ... fires still going but they are slowly gettin getting contained.. so sad for all the people , 189 homes gone.. 1 dead ..

Got my new clothesline yesterday and now have to wait til Joe's back is better to get it set up, have to dig out old concrete and replace it cause the pipe size is different... may move it to another place in the yard... so we can enlarge the deck some eventually.. make an area for the grill to be permanatly...

Well off to get the day started. need to run to Wally's this morning- somehow we have lost our fingernail clipper set, has 3 sizes in it and other grooming tools. Joe had it down in the kitchen and left it on the table and it just walked away cause we can't find it anywhere...so we need to find another set... oh well off we go ..

Good evening--good night ...OR good morning--whichever it may be. Still awake here---2:19 am

I had a glass of iced tea late this afternoon, so I guess that is the problem---the good side is I had some dishes to wash up & they are done now... lol (so when I sleep in, I guess I will not be any further behind when I wake up, huh ?

Congratulations on the new clothesline, Nana---I sure do miss having one here like I did at the farm.....oh well why

Guess I will go and watch some TV....everyone rest well wavy

Sorry you had trouble sleeping, Carol. I just hate when that happens. I was really tired when I got back from Rapid yesterday, sat like a potato in front of the tv then crashed pretty hard! snooz

I got to thinking about a clothsline too, Nana, when you mentioned yours. I miss the smell of the clothes once they have been hung outside. When my parents first bought the motel in Durango we did all the laundry ourselves, and we had cotton sheets, so we hung them outside, cause if we put them in the dryer we then had to iron them, we had a mangle...anyone remember those? Yikes, we worked hard in the beginning!

Wonder if Sunflowers' mare has had her baby yet?

Just working today, weather is supposed to be hot, up to 95 or so. Guess it is time to turn on the air. tears

Have a happy Friday all flwr

Good morning.
I am sick so I am going to go get back in the chair if I can ever get Lola out of her sleeping cage. I think she's trying to build a nest.

Good morning. I am so sorry you are sick,, Cindy. Take care of you.
Yes, Bobbi. We had a wringer washer in the back yard when I was young. And we had to iron our sheets and pillow cases. I think of that every time I change bedding. I am grateful for many modern conveniences.
I am very glad I did not have to do it for a motel though.

So sorry, you are sick, Cindy kissie

Was outside for a while, wanted to check one of the zones on the sprinkler system....and realized that hanging things out right now might not create a wonderful smell, we are getting the ash smell from the Colorado fires! I feel bad for all those displaced and those that have lost their homes in the summer fires. We were in CA, I think, 2007 and had to change our route several times because of the fires, and the views at Yosemite were not viewable due to all the smoke. Fires are such scary things....

Hope you feel better Cindy kissie

Still no foal, the vet said he'll give her til Monday then he'll intervene..have no clue what they do.

I was gone on errands and appointments all day yesterday..as of today I am now off steroids and need to lose 12 pounds. Last year at this time they wanted to hospitalize me for being underweight...this Colitis is driving me crazy. touched

Supposed to rain here today also, hope so this week of heat crisped up my lawn also.

Came home yesterday to see that the birds ate all my ripened strawberries, they never did that before.

Steroids, prednisone in particular, cause weight gain. It is a fine line to use them and keep it off too. I hope it is an easy thing for you without further side effects, Sunny.
Fires are one of my worst fears here, Bobbi. But all I can do is clear brush and hope.

Cindy, sorry you are sick---rest & feel better---poor Lola--perhaps you should let her go, she is probably happy making that nest.. shewinks

Sunny--sorry to hear you have no new baby at your house yet---I hope the mare delivers soon, for all your sakes...
and the steroids---gee I do so hope that you lose the weight gain soon, but that the Dr does NOT have to put you back on them any too soon.

Thanks Bobbie for the kind words--and stay cool there---

Good Morning,
It's been a long morning already.. supposed to be 98 today... and 101 on Sat... enough already! the firefighters are still fighting it hard up there.. wind must be blowing the smoke toward you Bobbie we aren't getting it right now at least..
Spent 4 hours last night at Carrie's , Joseph's girlfriend had spent the day there Tues and part of Wed then yesterday called and said he discovered she and her sister's all had lice... so Joseph and I took his room apart and sprayed and cleaned it out- Carrie was working til midnight last night- we sprayed all the carpets and furniure in rest of house too. going back to help steam clean his carpet and re-spray- left it to Jon to use the shampoo on the boys and himself.. he has a beard so told him he had to use it on that too... hopefully we get it all done and they don't have to go thru this again.. we took all his clothes to wash them too... and bedding... big job!I was so tired last night..

Well off to finish up my laundry and get myself back over there to help..
Nana
