Well I just spent 3 hours out in the garden deadheading & ripping out morning glories & weeds. This dry weather sure makes pulling out weeds easy--they come out complete roots & all. bop

DH & I were sitting out on the deck drinking coffee ('cause we could for once) and he mentioned that my prickly pear was sorta blocking the A/C unit--so as it was decent out for once, I majorly pruned (which should have been done much sooner)
my prickely pear and then moved on to deadheading & weeding my flowers. 3,- 5 gallon containers and 2 hours later I thought I had better bring Thor & myself in.

So now, I have lots of pads to give away once they scab over if anyone is interested. I kept enough for me to re-plant much of the area, and for me to give away.

I think a bath and more coffee are in my future....

Tina it was barely light when we went out. IF Thor (75 # Siberian Huskey) wanted to "get away" there would be no stopping him. One time (at night) I was out on my rocked area and he saw a rabbit--well he began to take off---I instinctivly jerked on the lead & he stopped short. (thank goodness)

But I will say one time (many years ago) Dante was outside and he saw a coyote in the next field. he took off after it & me after him---well thankfully the coyote was faster than Dante---but I know what you mean there....

Oh, Black Butt has chased many coyotes. Some on a daily basis. He has gotten very close to catching up with them and then they wheel around on him. He wheels and runs then. It is pretty funny to watch. But he has slowed down a bit at 12+ years now and I am a little afraid for his health. He also does not chase them as far. Only a quarter mile or so and then comes home.
He has also had a couple of buddy coyotes that he has played doggie games with. That was fun to watch too. But I never wanted the coyotes to hang around that much.
You got a lot done today, Carol. So good for you.
I realized I need to take a Walmart trip for Ted's nutrition drinks. So I will begin to get ready to go.

I had a long post here awhile ago and lost it when lightning struck the transformer in front of my house and knocked the electric out for awhile.

Good day for a nap...after I finish eating the world's messiest tuna melt.....

Keep safe, Cindy.
Emergency supplies are always a very good idea, Carol. I'm a nutcase on that topic. Water, food, camping gear, first aid supplies are all here in a big way.
And so are school supplies around here in a big way. At least until he begins school on the first of Aug. I've been stockpiling for his class. That is so much fun for me.

I used to have a small panty in my basement--but DH threw a fit & said I didn't need all of that food around, that I was wasting money.I figured it served 2 purposes---I could buy when foods were on sale & also if something happeend we had that there as an extra safegarde--but now not so much

I still have school supplies from when my girls were in school--and I still buy whatever I think I might need for the upcoming year when the new sales begin for the next school year.

We keep extra food on hand and water too... and come pans we could use in fireplace to cook if we really had to.. iron skillets... .. we always have extra wood for fireplace too just incase we lose elec for very long.. all elec house would get pretty cold in winter if we did.. it has come in handy when we had the blizzards and housebound a couple times... have canned stuff we could heat up too... doesn't take up that much room and we rotate it all yr so nothing goes bad...
I is almost school supply time here too, stores are already have back to school sales.. next payday will start with the boys lists.. seems like they get longer every yr... I noticed one teacher wants certain color folders and spiral notebooks.. they have to match... going to check my websites for coupons and deals on stuff- I can ususally get some of it for next to nothing with them... we got thru lots of stuff with the 3 of them..

Yes, Ted is 18 but still about kindergarten level along with his classmates. So his class is a lot of craft supplies. I bought 50 glue sticks and a mess of school glue too. Construction paper, foam shapes and letters, puzzles, simple books. I bought different types of pipe cleaners and pom-poms. Foam sheets.
Also several bottles of hand sanitizer and tissues and a case of baby wipes.
They swim 2-3 days a week so I bought 10 new beach towels to replace the rags they had. I brought 6 beach towels in last year along with carryalls for them. And I have books that I have collected for the room. I do have a blast doing this. And I know it helps with school belts being tightened so much.

The school glue these days is pretty tasteless. The paste when I was a kid was pretty good though.

It is a housework-y, washing walls sort of day. I love the clean smells.
I took a break to cannibalize a cooler for parts for another. The one I am taking parts out of is newer and in better shape than the one in the wall. But I don't want to take the wall apart to change them out.
I think I will nap soon.

Well Bill I am vegging along with you... we are having a thunderstorm today... and it is very loud out there right now... we took two of the boys to the Ren Fair yesterday , haven't been in years and it was fun but I went and spoiled it by getting heat stroke.. one of my meds says avoid heat but it never bothered me before but boy did it this time... we watched a show and even sat in the shade during it- then walked around some more and suddenly I felt like I was going to pass out- couldn't breath and chest hurt... sat on a bench and Joe went and got a cup of ice from the vendor close by- started putting it on my neck and wrists to cool myself off.. took a while but it helped enough for me to walk back to the exit with lots of stops to cool off some more- it was 100* but was lots of shade and I had my sunscreen and hat... so was a big suprise to me to suddenly feel like that.. scared Joe half to death and Timba too , feel so bad for him we had told him he could buy a sword on the way out but he didn't complain... Nicoli had found what he wanted in a magic wand so he had his... we told them we would go back next summer , hopefully on a much cooler day... I drank lots of water too so wasn't dyhydrated .. called my doc and he said the meds probably did it and to just rest till I felt better... was good to use the ice and cool me off as much as we could and the ac in the tahoe works really well so that helped too... had a headache for a while too from my sinuses drying out to much.. but thats gone now too... had heatstroke yrs ago once in Az but didn't come on so fast as this time...

Then last night after I had been asleep for a couple hours around 12:45 am I heard male voices in the back yrd next door- our neighbor had asked us to keep and eye out for her dd , as she was out of town for a few days and her dd wanted to stay home alone- or with a girlfriend sleeping over.. this girl is 16... I looked out my sliding door and 2 teen or older boys were jumping on their trampoline yelling and being generally loud... I asked them where Sadie was and they immediatly went in the house- well as the mom asked me to look out for her and not to allow boys over there I got the key to the house and went over... rang door bell - no one would come to door so yelled thru door I have a key so you may as well answer the door- so she comes to door and starts telling me her Mom said boys were okay to be there.. I could smell beer and and said no it wasn't ok and they were to leave now... turns out one of them was 21~ he was disrepectful little A**.. said fine don't leave I will call the sheriff and see what they say about a 21 one yr old drinking with minor girls in a house where there is no adult present- he shut up and left in his car after that... I called my neighbor after that and told her what had happened. she is supposed to be home today... sure hope she has a long talk with her dd about what kind of danger she was putting herself in with bad choices..I had told her I would never have left one of my kids alone at that age... so after that I didn't sleep much - finally went back to sleep about 5 this morning .. so slept in a little ... Joe slept thru it all- LOL!

Yes, I would not leave a girl that age alone either. It was good of you to look after her so well, Nana.

WOW! I'm glad you called and told her right after it happened.
That's pretty lame leaving a 16 year old alone like that, in my opinion...she obviously knows what kind of 'friends' she hangs with, and that they are older.
