I was gone most of the day....waiting and waiting and waiting at Social Security. Was there at 9am and got out in late afternoon. Good thing I found my reading glasses and took a book with me.

As soon as this one is finished, begin on the next one, Carol. They tend to come in groups once it begins.
I am sorry, Cindy. That sucks. I really hate the SS office here. Although I was able to fill out the forms for Ted on the phone. That was nice to sit in my own home and get it done. I hate the phone but would rather that than in the office.

That is my plan, Tina. I have an "old Mc Donald" one picked out. I figure there is a 50/50 chance that val's first child will be a boy, right????

Then if it is a girl I will have to jump on it & find a "girl" quilt

1:34 a.m. here & I am still up--- egad

As soon as you finish the Old MacDonald one..start on a girls one also. lol Yup, be prepared...twins could be in the future haha

No rain for today, the wind is strong and it's cool out there. Wonderful weather for the full day of yardwork I need to tackle. Days like today put such a spring in my step.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. I am very glad you have great working weather, Sunny. Don't overdo things.
Carol, babies are just plain contagious.
I am going to town on my spring cleaning. I think I am up to spring 2008 now. Or maybe '09. I am pretty happy about it. I am going to need to paint soon. Maybe this winter. Heating with wood is hard on walls.

In for a lunch break, the weather out there is just like in September grin

I hear ya on the wood and the walls Tina...makes the worse sooty mess.

Leaf hoppers are doing a nasty job on my potato plants, any remedies for that??

My favorite is just the dish detergent in a spray bottle with water. It may not kill them but the leaves taste nasty. It is safe for the food crops. I have used it in my backpack sprayer for larger areas.

Thanks Tina...I'll spray them tomorrow. Strange thing is I have two different varieties side by side and they are eating the early variety...same as the potato bugs. Next year i am planting all late potatoes lol

Yard work is all finished once again for another week.

Good morning. Ouch, Carol! Take care of yourself.
It has been quiet. People may have been extremely busy. Cindy is turning into the crazy cat lady and has too many cat toys. Carol is maiming herself. I am a recovering hoarder and trying to get on top of my house and gardens, both of which were neglected too much. Now that I have begun, I'm sure there is no end either.
Today will be more sifting and sorting more. And a little cooking.

I thought I had it bad when Leslie called this morning and said she had ANOTHER stray kitten that showed up at her house last night. She is the first house past a big playground, so I guess people are dropping off kittens at the playground and they go to Leslie's because she is the first stop, plus she keeps cat food outside. This makes 3 in the last 2 weeks...bringing her cat total up to 4 now. She told her landlord about it and he brought her a 20lb bag of cat food this morning and flea control stuff for all of them...and said he would try to find good homes for the 2 new kittens.

I live out in the boondocks. People drop off dogs here all of the time. My dog is a rescue from a dumping at a high school over 12 years ago. My neighbors have adopted all they could comfortably care for. It is sad that we have a kill pound. Dogs are very lucky to survive 3 days there.
We had a pair of dogs obviously dumped a few years ago. One had his collar with the home info on it. Dumb guy. He tried to say his dogs escaped after he left for work, but they were 30 miles from home within about a half hour. That didn't happen. They were between his house and his job.
I live in the desert. Water is hard to come by for these animals. It really infuriates me.

I hear ya Tina, we are the drop off for cats.

Still giggling at Cindy's comment about being a non-recovering hoarder lol

I am so tired of arguing with people today.... madd

So...here is a video of Spartacus and the kitty. It might look like Sparta is hurting her, but he isn't. He is being very gentle.
And you can see from the video that I am indeed a hoarder...my winter coat is still in the chair and it's been 100 degrees here for several months...lol

They really love each other...and I was so afraid Sparta was going to kill me the first few days..he was NOT happy. He is now. I have separate dishes for them but they eat out of the same dish, and they sleep together.

Saw your video Cindy---the kitties look so healthy---and--I guess what does not kill them will make them stronger, huh???

I have NO idea how my DD keeps these dogs of hers---exp. Thor---I took him out last night late, & yet here he is waking me up at 5:15 to take him potty. (DD says that they can go 12 hours between outings--well I beg to differ) And then Luna wants her turn, but she is a sweetheart----so by the time I get back in from trip # 2 then Dante (my dog) wakes up & wants out...and this goes on all day.....

I am tired---I wish Dante would co me back in already.

Day of chores for me and errands with DD later..on a good note, grandbaby lands today grin

Calling for a stretch of no rain, hay cutting begins today.

Good morning.
I was here about 2 am my time. I stayed up until about 4. I don't want to fall into that routine though. School starts next week again.
I have no major plans for this day. I will putter on whatever project looks like something I'd like to do. And snip at my son's hair some more.

yes it was well after 2 when I finally laid down & went to sleep. My sister thinks that fish oil is doing it--she had that same problem awhile back & when she stopped taking her Fish oil she slept---going to try to take it only in the morning & at noon. we shall see. Sorry for the storm Cindy, but hey rain would be lovely--We are so desperate for rain now a days that I would even welcome a storm.

Tina, when you get done "snipping" at Cindy's, please copme here, ok??? my hair could use some work as well.

Glad you are going to have a dry spell Sunny---good luck getting in the hay---Just be glad that you have it to get in. Things are bad here---I hear that people are selling their cattle b/c they do not have feed for them to get thru the winter...
Off to try to play catch up & get some things done now---i am way behind--have a good day everyone.

Cutting hair is easy. Cutting Ted's hair, not so much. He doesn't like haircuts. I used to cut it in his sleep. But now if you touch his hair, he wakes. I used to wrap him in a beach towel and sort of sit on him. But he really is too big for that now. I could force him to sit and have a very unhappy man/boy. But I can keep my scissors handy and snip a little here and a little there and he is much happier. He has an ongoing haircut.
I am just glad he lets me shave him. He thinks that is kind of fun. So far.

When my doctor friend I went to school with (she lives in Boston now) helped me order some supplements, she told me to take the fish oil in the morning or it could keep me awake...like I need anything else to keep me awake...lol

You would think so...but I can't seem to get mine even. Rachel will be here on the 4th so she can straighten it up for me. It's still too long.

Hot as hell again today...couldn't stand to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time. I went out once and turned the water on "mist" and held it up for the hummingbirds to play in....they loved it.

Tomorrow I'm going to figure a way to attach it to something so I can leave it on for the birds for an hour or so at a time. It's so hot I'm sure all the birds I feed would enjoy it. I can handle a little more on my water bill for my birdies....

I've missed chatting while I was at WSQG State Conference. It was a great conference, but I'm glad its over! I can't take the heat so that is why I am inside all this summer and I think that is one reason all my growing things are suffering! But the deer and antelope are not helping! Wednesday I had 2 marigold blooms, yesterday I only had one. I thought animals did not like marigolds why They seem to be eating everything out front. I have a lot of sunflowers that are getting ready to bloom and I am afraid the critters will wait till they bloom them come chomp off the flower boohoo

But it is good to be home if only for a short...sis has surgery on Monday for her breast cancer, so I'll be in Rapid, then if things go good we go on our motorcycle trip leaving next Wednesday. Going up into Montana, to Glacier National Park and maybe into Canada a little ways.

I loved catching up and LOVED seeing your family, Cindy!

Hope everyone stays cool and WET, WET, Wet, ok, maybe your can skip the wet part, Sunflowers. We actually had a thunderstorm 2 days ago! Filled my water barrels in 1/2 hour. It was almost heaven!

Good morning.
You are very busy, Bobbi. It is good to see you pop in. There are deer resistant plants but very few deer proof ones. If the critters, large or small, run out of enough of their favorites, they will even eat the things they don't like too much. And sometimes, trample the rest getting to the weeds between. You can hang flashy things that may keep them scared away, like pie tins or old CDs. When they flutter in the breeze it frightens them.
I am wondering if the smoke bombs worked on your unknown ground critters.
I would love some of that wet.
Other than watering, most of my work will be indoor stuff, today. I will get a handle on this house.

I am sorry, Cindy. I use Dimetapp for clearing my ears. It has been many years since I have had any ear problems. But may not work well on your glands nor on with your other meds.

That did work, thanks for asking. Whoever it was kind of decimated my spiderworts, but not all of them, so they will come back!

So sorry about the ear problems, Cindy...yikes, hope it clears up soon...

Busy today, just working, watering and realizing that keeping the deer and antelope out of my flowers is a loosing battle. I have pie tins, and I have sprayed deer-off stuff, ...and the flowers out there have not been bothered for 7 or 8 years, but I'm guessing the critters need them more than I need to see them. The drought has affected all of us!

I should sleep well tonight!
