Here's a pic of part of the veggie garden from yesterday, there's also another one with cukes and pumpkins:

This looks so pretty, Bill. And it all looks pretty healthy too. Probably 80% of the plants in my new garden are transplants from the other gardens at Cedar Hill that kinda went to hell while I took my "vacations" over the last few years, and many haven't returned to their past status yet. When I was finally able to work again (kinda), I decided that the best (only) way to restore the old gardens was to move most of the perennials to a new "cottage" type garden, while leaving the shrub type plants (Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Dogwoods etc.) in their original spaces. Only time will tell the future of any of my gardens right now. I just can't do the things I used to do...

well, I watered a LOT!!!! & that is all. Sunny, your garden looks great !!! and I loved seeing the baby in the backround. Bill, thanks so much for showing yoiur gardens---I have misssed seeing them. I think they look great. Bill we none of us are as young & able as we used to be. My veggie gardens keep getting smaller & smaller every year. I have been trying to keep the flower amount the same though. but yes age shows on us all sad to say--but I think if we do waht we can hopefully we will still be happy with what we do have around us (garden wise)

Beautiful Bill..what is the plant in the first pic? The one with the bright orange flowers. Age has hit us all..(sickness has done me in more than the aging thing)..guess cause I'm just not old enough yet for the 'down the hill' part Planted a rhubarb last night, my mother picked one up for me..the nursery was clearing out all plants and shrubs for $5.

Wow, Bill....the yard sure has changed since I was there..... Yep... that part of the yard used to be all sticker bushes! Unfortunately, other gardens haven't fared quite as well The north Entry Garden used to look like this... but after a few years of neglect, I am beginning to work on restoring it to how it should be, instead of looking like this...

And from where I'm from, anything green this time of year is a blessing, Bill. Our weeds are drying out to a crispy brown. Getting ready to become fodder for possible fires. And I clear them out as fast as I can. It is all pretty well cleared away now. And I am watering like crazy to keep as much green as I can.

Well, I have started the soapy water routine on my potato plants...the leaf hoppers are horrid. I hope it works, I don't want to use chemicals on my veggie garden.

My close in weeds are pretty much in hand. I do want to work on some a little further out from the house. When my kid goes back to school full time next week, I should have some free time to get this done.

Your vegie garden looks wonderful, Sunflowers, wish mine was doing half as good! I love all your green, Bill. Even in a good water year, we don't have that much lush green growing. I've grown to love the high desert prairie, but sometimes, I miss all the green! Last year must have been beginners luck with the green house. This year feels like a battle is raging, and I'm the looser! I keep telling myself, I had great early crops!!! And my banana peppers are doing good also! I loved reading back over what everyone was doing in their gardens.

well today I didnt do anything in the garden--but I did do something with some items that I harvested from the garden.
I put up 5 pints of tomatoes, 5 cups of cubed zucchini, 2 flat trays of sliced zucchini & 4 pkgs of shredded zucchini in quantities for various cake recipes that I have. Now to wait for more tomatoes to ripen....

A co-committee member brought me some honesty that I watered this morning and that I plan to plant in the birdbath flower bed. Maybe it will do better than the seeds I planted.

This afternoon I cleared off my flower bed--all of which should have been dons in the fall save the 2 lirope plants. I usually do them in say december or january. well this year I got to it 2-6-13...(today) Then I cut back the asparagus and the old herbs from my veggie garden. It was 52*F or a bit warmer today, so I took advantage of the good weather.....

I haven't done anything outside either. I've wanted too but just can't do it. It's time for us to cut back our monkey grass. Maybe I can get Johnny to do that this weekend if it's not raining.

Not a darn thing here, way too much snow. I do plan on starting all my seeds though in the next week or so, still waiting on some trades to come in.

Hope to get some straw bales into the garden spot this coming week. Wondering if I should plant squash seed or ready made plants in them. What do you think?
