Glad you have your son to help you Tina..

Bill, I am hoping the rain falls upon you soon....that's way too long, it must be impossible to get any outdoor work done with no moisture in the ground.

I have been tackling the fall prep here and ended up spending the afternoon helping my SIL with hers as well. Her husband passed away this Summer and this is all new territory for her.

I keep running out of paint for my little fix-ups.

I bought paint today. But just spray paint for craft projects. White for snowmen.
I would like you to get some rain too, Bill. If/when you do, I may too.
I got a bunch of stuff this morning for fun projects. The white paint for snowmen and a few other things for making a costume for Halloween and other small classroom craft projects.
I have Ted home from school. And I'm close to taking a nap. Very close.

Hi all,

We got rain last night and today too, was really nice... cooled off today too.. can feel fall in the air , they got a little snow in the high mtns too.. it's really nice for our dried out lawns and gardens and the mtns but sure hard on my poor body today.. really achy,,,,

I have a turkey cooking in my roaster oven today.. will have a mini turkey dinner tonight and make the leftovers into turkey enchiladas... think I will get at least 4 pans out of them... lots of dinners for this winter for us... now that the cooler weather is here will start making freezer meals again...

We went and walked the mall today, was raining to hard to walk the neighborhood, hardly ever go to the mall.. then we went and wandered Hobby Lobby... they are full of Christmas stuff already,, saw some neat stuff but am doing my best to not get any new stuff- have so much already.
At the mall we saw a resale store for furniture .. they have really good prices so may be visiting that one again when I get new furniture for my living room, they had a hutch for 130 that was beautiful ...
Well off to get ready to pick up boys.. Joe took them to school this morning and they expect to be picked up.. will be doing homework when we get them here too... not my favorite thing but guess someone has to do it... I keep telling myself one more week , less actually and I get a week off! LOL!

Good morning..have a fun time Nana kissie

Picking up grand baby today...and more paint. I need to learn to stop painting things different colors, that way one can would do it all. Thankfully those little mini cans are quite cheap.

Apparently today and tomorrow are supposed to be extremely hot...one day we get frost, the next day is beach weather.

I took a half hour nap. And woke up hungry. I tucked chicken into the crockpot this morning. I am glad. A taste test (of two thighs) proved it was worthwhile.

Thighs are my favorite!

I had microwave macaroni and cheese for supper...those little individual portions that take 5 minutes to pop out of the freezer and nuke are perfect for me and Lola. thumbup

I have not found any of those frozen ones that I like. Not even the Kraft bowls or anything. Teddy loves Kraft mac n cheese but not any other type besides the blue box. I fix it for him a couple days a week. I will cook some up for him an a bit because he doesn't do chicken either.

It was "Michelina's" brand...sharp cheddar. Not too bad after I loaded it down with salt.

I think I tried that....and it exploded in my microwave... boohoo

I have an awesome recipe for mac and cheese you bake in the oven...it's kinda complicated but well worth the effort.

Good night.....going to try to sleep without dreaming I am in an episode of "Storage Wars" bidding against Dave Hester. Night before last I couldn't sleep because I had the theme song from "Laverne and Shirley" in my head....last night I finally fell asleep and woke up in a panic because I was bidding on a storage unit from that "Storage Wars" show.

Cindy's surprise storage locker was probably filled with Maine coon cats.
It is to be about 107* F out today and tomorrow. That is about 42 C I think.
Tomorrow I'm driving out to the high desert to deliver some things I have for a friend's grandchildren. I made a Halloween costume for one of them. Jonni modeled it for me.

It is hot here. Living up to the prediction. But it takes longer to get to the top temp and drops more quickly than it did last month. I will survive it.

Jonni was born blond but went darker and darker brown as she aged. Then completed the process with black dye. It is long but worn in a bun in the sandwich pic.
She turned 21 last month. And is about 5'3", a touch shorter than Teddy. She is the smallest of my children. And very pretty and really a nice person.
I slept most of the afternoon away. I needed it as I did not sleep much last night. Dinner is being eaten now.

High Five, Mr. Bill... lol

Yes...SSI attorney. I'm working hard on this...I have medicaid until the last day of October...then it's gone. They stopped the check last month. As you can imagine, I am in a bit of a predicament here...extremely stressful.

Rachel had super blonde hair when she was little, thought it would stay that way since her dad's hair was almost white it was so blonde...but it started getting darker after about 8-9 years old and is light brown now. I never even had any hair til I was about 5 years old. Seriously...when I was about 3 I have a picture of me and my sister...(she's a year older than me)...her hair was about half way down her back...and mom had a freakin little bow taped to my head. blush

When you put those two sentences together, it does sound funny. Jonni had brown hair by the time she was in kindergarten. Ted took a little longer but also went from blonde to brown. They both have lovely blue eyes though.
Yeah, my baby girl is legal now. My baby boy is 18 and my oldest is 40. I do so know how quickly they grow up.
I am marking time until I can take myself to bed, in spite of my nap today.

Me either---in my kindergarten pictures, my mom used a bobby pin to put a green ribbon in my hair--that bobby pin stuck out of m y hair form the ribbon like there was no hair--and that was just about how it was--I was a toe-headed girl that had little to no hair. My aunt who was a beautician kept teh back cut short because the sides just would NOT grow--at all.

My oldest DD was born with dark hair & it stayed that way & was straight as a poker until she was in high school----and the little one, she had almost white, wavy, very thin hair like her mommy did. she kept the light hair until she was almost in high-school

g'nite everyone sweet dreams

Thanks
Sunny & Diane. Yep that family has surely been thru a lot this week. But luckily it has all been good---

I am not running a temp now but I certainly do not feel right.
so I may well just stay home & rest.

welp yes and no...
he was in the army for awhile, in High school--then after his mom got married to an x- navy man (Chris's dad passed when Chris was in High school) he went into the navy. Chris was in the navy for 6 years---His mom & my Emily (by then his wife) wanted him to get out so he got out---Now he is working for the federal government & in the Navy reserves. But yes, I think being in the reserves is a lifetime goal--and twice now he has been activated. When he came home from a year in Bahrain last year (or the year before)--he was told he cannot be activated for 5 more years...well I guess as long as nothing major happens, that is.
Whatever it is that he does for them, I guess he does it good..... why

Congratulations to your Dad Cindy--that is quite an achievement !!

I am in for the day. Ted and I traveled 120+ miles round trip to visit a friend. And we had a good time. I stopped at McD's for his lunch on the way home. It is hot out there and even hotter out in the desert. Now it is time to stick around the house and keep cool. And nap.
I hope you are not coming down with anything, Carol. The timing is not so good for you.

Well, he retired at full benefits when he was 38 years old...and we got to see a lot of interesting places...Guantanamo Bay, Cuba being the coolest place ever for a kid to live.

There were a lot of bad times, too. During the Cuban Blockade dad was on an aircraft carrier near Cuba. We were stationed in Rhode Island...it was winter and there was no mail allowed from the ship to the states...which meant no money for the families that had husbands in this situation. Many got their heat, water, all utilities turned off...and eventually evicted because of not having the money to pay any bills. I remember we were the last one in the neighborhood to have a car...because when the guy came to repossess our car my mom about beat him to death with a broom. Many families ended up in one house, pooling all our food and resources and us kids all had to sleep in the floor...it was so crowded you couldn't get around in there. A big pot of soup was what we ate from every day.

I'm sure it was hell on my mother, but it was an adventure for us kids. I was 5 years old.
