Yes I'm still out in the country. I understand what you mean about your plants taking a beating. I tried planting a deck garden but the cat made mincemeat out of it. A friend brought over some horse manure and it was full of seeds and roots. Now I've got to dig all that stuff out and get down to the good stuff. I young man in the neighborhood raked up my leaves for me. That helped although I really shouldn't have spent the money on that.

Hi TK I do not think we have met, but as a life time horse person, I can tell you NEVER to use horse manure, no matter how well it is aged or what they are fed. It is always full of pasture grasses and seeds. The best is Chicken, Well composted chicken.
On another bird note, Mine went in at 11. Simple dinner, Turkey, Mashed potatoes, Sweet potatoes, I> know over kill, But I love left overs. Cranberry sauce, Gravy, Green beans, and Pumpkin pie with home made whipped cream.
Okay It all sounds so good now, Talk to me around 4. shock rolz

I just finished breakfast, eggs and toast. I don't eat eggs as often as I would like. They just don't always go down well. I say I am allergic to them, sometimes. But it is really a part time sensitivity to egg white. I cannot eat too much of it. It was funny to meet up with some of my father's family as an adult and find out I am not alone. They were good today even though I left out most of the whites.

Looks like everyone is cooking except me. Had a friend call and say she was bringing dinner around 6, so me and Lola just had a bowl of vegetable beef soup from a can.

I'm weird about eggs, too. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I about barf if I even think about them. I'm not allergic, just mentally unbalanced.

Nice to see you, Hooper!
And nice to everyone!!!

A sad story:

This year my husband and I drove 8 hours hours on Tuesday to MO to pick up my recently widowed aunt and her sister in law for Thanksgiving. We visited them Tuesday night and went back to pick them up Wednesday morning for the 8 hour drive back. We were told they changed their minds and did not want to go to KY afterall. shock
I called my dauighter, who lives in OK and is another 5 hours past where my aunt lives, to tell her we were pretty close and asked to go there for Thankgiving instead of driving home. She said "No, not enough notice". tapfoot So we drove home. boohoo My son and his famoly will be over later (but not to eat) after eating Thanksgiving dinner at his in-laws. My turkey is still not cooked,my ham is now ham salad and I made potato salad instead of mashed potato's.
Not the best Thanksgiving for me this year.

I am sorry, Jayhawk. That is sad.
We might be related, Cindy. My poor dog doesn't even eat my left out whites any more.

So sorry jayhawk

That sucks if I heard of it......Reminds me of the time when Hubby was still alive. My widowed sis wanted to go to Iowa with us. We drove from pa. to Ohio an picked her up, then off to Iowa. Alll free.. All she needed to do is pay her room an food.
She turned on me the whole time an only wanted to get home Kept calling her inlaw on a cell, an telling us to hurry up an get home.
It was really a heart tearing trip to Iowa an back.

However we survived....Good luck with your family J .

Dang, Jayhawk! That's freaking unbelievable!!! shock

My Thanksgiving dinner didn't show up til after 7pm, cold...and it tasted like [bleep] so I ate about 3 bites and dumped the rest outside for the dog. I went ahead and cooked my little turkey breast while waiting on my "delivered" food...so it's done and in the fridge and I will have a nice little meal tomorrow.

Good morning, Boy it turned cold over night, 60 to 39.
I am so glad I do not engage in the maddness they call "Black Friday"
You could not pay me. Christmas has lost all meaning for these crazy buyers!
I do not even do presents anymore. It makes me very sad to see what the Holiday has become. How much can they crank up their credit cards. why
Well on a lighter note, My house does not stink like old cooked turkey. That is the one thing that bugged me forever, after you cook hours later it smells, well >Ugh.
I cleaned yesterday afternoon so it smells okay.
LOL
So sorry for your terrible experience TK. Makes me glad I do not have family sometimes. rolz

Hey Ditchy it's nice to meet you.

J that is just incredible. She couldn't have told you before you left to pick her up? Wow, that would probably be the last time I made that trip. But, then I am hard on my friends and family. That's probably why I was home alone.

I totally agree!
I give a few gifts (4-5) and they are very simple and made by hand...with things I have around the house. This year it will be wind chimes made out of keys and antique silverware, with beads. I have huge boxes of keys and since I used to make jewelry I have tons of different pretty beads, and found a box of old silverware when I was cleaning out a box in my storage building awhile back. They will be very nice and 4 people will get them and that's all I'm doing. Last year it was homemade foot soak stuff.

Found out last night Rachel is coming today!!!!! party

Homemade gifts are the best. They really let me have a wonderful memory that lasts a long time. The wind chimes sound like a great idea. I love the idea of wind chimes but when I try to have them they drive me crazy. I'm always looking for where the sound is comming from. You would think that I would remember after awhile but I don't.

I usually crochet something, I've done mufflers, slippers, fingerless gloves, leg warmers, hats, one quilt. Whatever screams out someones name pretty much. Unfortunately I can't get to everyone, every year the money doesn't go that far.

Good morning.
I am not going BF shopping. I did once just to experience it, not to really shop. I will be going to my grocery store and picking up something for my littlest that I am out of and they do have a BF deal that I will take advantage of. But it is for something I need anyway.
I am making a lot of my gifting for my neighbors also. I made 100 hour candles and homemade vanilla extract. I am making my youngest daughter and her boyfriend an emergency bug-out-bag in case we have a big earthquake, etc. She actually asked for that. I may bake some gift breads this year as well.I am having a lot of fun.

It sounds like you have your christmas present list all done all ready. That's very organized. I'm just getting started. I've made out about 20 christmas cards and that's it so far. So much to do so little time.

Gee ladies--you all sound like you had bad experiences yesterday. I am so sorry to hear that. I do hope the next week is better for you all.

I will not go out to try to do nay shopping today either. If I had a good list & I thought I could accomplish anything today It would probably save some real money--but I do not think I could make myself brave both the weather AND the people.

Today I think I will begin to clean out my bedrooms for incase Val & Brian do come to stay around the holidays.

Not to mention Rod's brother's family might come to visit their Mother, & need a place to stay. Not that I was told that--but I did catch wind of the possibility when Rod was talking to his brother on the phone last week.

I wish everyone a good day. !!

Good Morning,

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving , food came out really good and everyone had a good time... my kids and hubby cleaned up the kitchen and did all the dishes for me- the desserts (pumpkin pie and lemon meringue) came out good too.. even made mini pumpkin and the kids liked that idea.. Carrie brought boys over to have dessert with us and Derek even managed to stay and play with twins and eat a little here... he had a semi meltdown and the other grandparents and wanted to come here ... at first he thought to many people here but he calmed himself down and had fun... victory!

Hubby is still sleeping .. so glad he had today off... he needed to sleep ..it's almost 9 and he is so tired and stressed from the contract not being settled.. so hard to be at work with all the rumors and general crap floating around... sure wish they would realize they need there expierienced people to keep the company running.. but it seems to be same old crap, greed and money for the people at the top are the deceiding factors , not the people who make the money for them..

Oh well life will go on... and who knows we may have something better around the corner for us...

Nana

Teddy and I are home and in for the day. I bought him food to make him smile. I also bought gift cards for his teachers. So that part is about done. They will get some homemade emergency candles as well.
I have my bread machine working up some bread for me so it is a good time to take a nap until the smell wakes me.

At 60* I am bundled up in sweatshirt and jacket. Today got up to 72* and I never took off my sweatshirt.
I did not like that bread machine recipe. I will be doing a different one next time. I mostly only bought it to make dough with anyway. But figured I would experiment.

I find the machines make the dough too tough. I gave mine away also.

Rain turning to snow later for us...it is so damp out, brrr....

Have a discouraging day...even my 'fat' pants don't fit anymore. Those steroid treatments got the best of me cry

Grey days really affect me. One of the reasons I moved to Virginia from Washington State. It's alittle hard but I've been told that I can restart my day at any point. A prayer and a desire to find a better attitude and things can really turn around.

At least you know that it is the steroids. Is there a possiblity that a different treatment might work, or that at some point you'll be able to get off of the steriods?

Good morning. I slept in again. I need to get back on schedule by Monday. But then there is only 3 weeks of school and we are off for 3 more. I am loving it.
I spent the last couple of days working on a snowman craft project for Ted and his classmates to complete at school. That is done and I can take the components to school on Monday too.

TK, I finished the treatments but the weight gain hasn't left yet...that's my goal after Christmas. I absolutely need to lose at least 25 pounds.

That's so sweet of you Tina, the way you do for your son's school.

have fun Juniegirl, grandbabies are the best. grin

Yes Tina that is very nice of you. I am sure they have lots of fun thanks to you.

OK Sunny--after Chrietmas we can keep each other in line--I need to get back to losing some weight then as well. Surely it will be easier together than it would be alone, right ???

Yes I intend to have fun, Sunny----I get to see my grandson & the rest of my family as well.

Now all we need is for my nephew to give his Girl friend an Engagement ring.---He says he will not do it for say any holiday or her brithday, etc...but I can hope.

Every one have a nice day & evening.

I finally got the perfect bread recipe from a lady at church. There is a starter and it is supose to be a potato bread sour dought. Of course wild yeast in Virginia isn't like the San Francisco Sour Dough but it is great in dinner rolls and loaves. I love it, the only problem is it doesn't last long and it makes 2 loaves.

Anything but! I just refuse to be a part of the madness people now call christmas, it is not about how many gifts you can buy, it is the birth of our lord Jesus Christ, Being together with Family and friends. Not running people over to get 20.00 off a cheap piece of Chinese junk.

I have had several friends that ballooned up on steroid treatments. Most all of them have been able to drop back to normal when treatments are over and the 'roids leave the system. You can do it, Sunny!
Doing the kid crafts is pretty fun for me too. Many schools have been stripped of the fun stuff in harsh budget cuts. So I get to have fun shopping and planning things. And Ted's teacher does not mind at all. So it is a win/win.

ONe has a choice. I never been to one of the black fridays, Rather eat turkey again.
Thought they didnt have that in canada. Actually we dont have a race in my family of who gets most. Most of us dont buy gifts. Just a church an a fine meal.. Folks dont even say merrry christmas in the stores, not allowed.Go figure.

I agree, But it is still so sad to see these rude people running around and acting like it is some kind of a contest. They have forgot the meaning.
I just choose to not go that route. Another board I am on had a huge thread about just this subject, It was actually refreshing to read that so many were not part of the madness, many made home made gifts, and spent quiet time.
There is hope. flwr

I simplify Christmas more and more each year....

Dodge, this is the first year they had Black Friday sales in Canada, they are trying to keep people from crossing the border to shop.

It is so windy out today..wow.

It is much cooler here today than yesterday. And not supposed to improve much during the week. But we don't have frost or snow, so I am good with it. I raked today. I still have falling leaves. I washed out buckets and barrels. Getting my storage ready to sock away.
