It's public knowledge to the older members here. Too lengthy to explain, but I am looking for the link to the post on it (detailed explanation)in the old forum archives...but can't remember my admin password to get to the "admin search" tool. touched I will get it when Bill gets back.

I am so glad your SS has been fixed, Cindy.
It is a Friday night and I am heading to bed at 9 pm. I must be getting old.
When I was a kid I had to wear dresses to school every day. The year after I graduated from high school they began to allow girls to wear pants.
The year after I turned 21 they made legal voting age 18.
I am turning 62 and they are raising the SS and medicare age. rolz

I am 60 this year and I had to wear dresses to school as well. I finally got to wear slacks to college though. if I am 2 years younger than you, I guess I squeaked by on the age thing--but I do rememebr being in Washington DC with my birth cert, because the drinking age there was 18 & I was not yet 21. (I didnt get my drivers license until I was 22.)

and about the SSI & medicare---I am 2 years & 2 monhs short of drawing any of it on my own so I must wait until after my DH is old enough--and he has to work until he is 66 or is it 67? ...and if they raise it?? sheese.. egad sad state of affairs here for sure.

Cindy.... kissie :ding: (just on general principles)

If they wanted to raise something on social security it should be the wages they are paid on. The poor people pay and the rich don't. But they sure do collect.

Good morning. Happy weekends to all. Today all of my nearby residing kids will be coming to visit. That is always fun. So this morning I will go around and buff up needy parts of my house.

I get a bunch done once I finally get started. Kitchen is cleaned up. Main bathroom is clean with a sparkly new toilet seat installed. That seat has been riding in my van for a few weeks. It was a nice vacation for it before it faced a horrible end. lol
I've been dusting and such as I've cruised around. Dusting is a least favorite thing right up there with vacuuming. But if I don't do it, it doesn't get done. Dishes are done and laundry is washing itself in the machines. I do not mind doing dishes and laundry.
I'm thinking of making some cookies. That sounds really good about now. I have chicken in the fridge for the base of dinner tonight. I'm thinking of couscous to go along with for a change.
Temps may reach about 60 today but it is sunshiny and dry.

A year or so ago, I bought a cheap memory foam seat. I loved it because it was instantly warm after you sat on it. But it was not so easy to keep as clean as I would like and it began cracking a little while ago. So I bought a plain wood seat this time. It will be much easier to clean and it will last longer. But I sure am missing the warmth of the other one.
I am done for now. My sons are here and my daughters are on the way up the hill.

Weird...I bought a new toilet seat Monday. My neighbor broke mine when he was setting on the commode with the lid down trying to catch a wild kitten that was loose in my bathroom...with a fishing net. He had a 9mm in his back pocket and when he leaned over it broke my cheap toilet seat. I got me a nice one this time!

Funny. Oh how I know a cracked seat can pinch and hurt. Been there, suffered that. The cracking on this one was just in the soft vinyl covering the foam. No pinching but I worry about who did what in there and what was sinking into that exposed foam. Icky!
Most of my kids were visiting today. It was fun but I am tired out.

Oh, PS...this is so cool.

Remember the joke I used to tell on here about the dog that limped into a bar and said "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw!" Well, nobody liked that joke except me.
Yesterday I was watching "The Virginian" and Judge Cannon had shot a man (in self defense). The man's son went looking for Cannon to kill him. He tracked him to the town he lived in...and walked into a bar and said "I'm looking for the man who shot my pa!" I swear, I about peed my pants.

Most members groaned when I posted that joke...I think they might have been trying to get me started... lol When that guy went into the saloon and said that on The Virginian I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything at the time, or I would have passed it through my nose laughing.

I have green beans cooking since this morning and a ham in the oven that will be done in 2 more hours, with potatoes. I owe my neighbor a good meal.

Well I might like it, I never have heard the joke!
Making dinners for the week. My new thing. Make several meals and freeze them.
Why did I not think of this sooner. MAking Beef Stew, Chili, Chicken Brocoli Casserole, Enchilada BAke. Now if I have enough room in the freezer!

sometimes it takes things like that to make us laugh, Cindy.....

Well, I finally have my tree up and the lights, angel, and tree skirt are on it. Now I think I will finish decorating the tables & such--then I will begin to decorate the tree, more than likley on some other day. lol

Then I can wrap what gifts that I have bought already.

DH thinks we are going to wait until the end of the week after next (he has off that week) to finish gift buying---LORDY!!!

I still like the joke, Cindy.
Kim, I cook for the freezer all of the time. It is expensive to cook for one or two people. But if you buy bigger it is cheaper. I cook large once and freeze the rest for future meals. It is a Godsend to look into the freezer without a clue and have dinner pretty much right there. Last week I did two 3 1/2 pound meat loves and two 6 pound chickens. One meat loaf and one chicken are in the freezer. We ate the other meat loaf in several meals and made two meals of the chicken. I boned the rest of the chicken today and made broth from the carcass. Them creamed that with veggies and tossed back i the chicken meat. So I have chicken ala king to serve on biscuits tonight and enough for a pot pie another night. I may freeze whatever is leftover today and save that for a day we are not tired of it. It also saves bunches of fuel/money to fill your oven and then freeze. Or do a large pot.

I'm counting the minutes til I get my clothes washed and dried for tomorrow. Headshrinker appointment, then to the Social Security office to wait for 3 hours to give them some more papers. We're supposed to have bad storms tonight...if we do I will be able to sleep good.

Does anyone know if you can buy just the removable liners for boots? Mine have big holes in them and need replaced, but the boots are still in perfect shape. why
Without the liners the boots are way too big for me...can't even walk in them without falling, even with thick socks on.

Cindy, I have only seen 1 pair of boot liners in my life, and I dont remember where they came from, but why not go to a "real" shoe store or call a few & see who has them. That would beat driving around wasting time & gas to find them. perhaps even a farm store might have them. OR have you looked online?? E-bay has everything !!! (well, I think so)

G'nite & sweet dreams to you all.

______________________
P.S.
I just went to look on e-bay & yep they make them, all different kinds and prices---so maybe you could call around near to home first, then go and search e-bay if you cant find anything that you could go and try on for size.
Or maybe Rachel could look around her area for ya???

Do you mean just the liners for the bottom of your boots or the whole liner that wraps around your foot into the boot?

Took grandbaby home yesterday, went to the tree farm to cut our tree..nothing like watching things through the eyes of a two year old grin

We have snow too ... still on the ground it's so cold... not much but it's white out there... and really cold... only19* right now... wish I had wood inside so could build a fire but we didn't get anyinside , so I am cold!

I have Nicoli here with a tummy ache... most likely Mondayitis, Derek too and Senika... she is bugging him on the computer ...well now we are watching Wiggles... she has the sniffles and is cranky so may be an early nap day for her...

Well off to see what I can find to make dinner.... it will be chicken something or another...
Nana

Mondayitis lol Most kids catch that now and then.

We've had snow off and on but it keeps melting. It is storming out at the moment..you have a hard time to see but yet it is calling for it to change to freezing rain tonight. I'd rather the snow.

I am very glad it is not that cold here. It is warmer outside my house than it is inside right now.
I am home for the day. Ted and I took some toys and food for my friend up in the high desert. She is raising her four grandkids. That was fun but I did wish I had slept better last night before hitting the road today. But I do have all afternoon to nap if I need.

Good grief...rough day. My favorite headshrinker is retiring and this was my last visit with her today. Needless to say I was a basketcase. I cried so bad.

Then went straight to the Social Security office and the parking lot was full...and cars parked along the road. I ended up having to park in the employee parking lot...thank God I didn't get towed. Went inside and and there was no seats to sit down...people standing in line for the next seat. I was number 76...they were on number 41. I stood up for an hour before I got a seat.
But, I got it done and over with after 3 hours, as bad as I wanted to just turn around and leave when I first got there.

Edit: And another teeny tiny stray kitten about 7pm tonight at my door the dog was trying to kill.

You do not need another kitten. I am sorry you had such a long day.
My day was longish as well. But it was a good one. And I am looking forward to my bed in a few minutes.
Sweet dreams all.

I second Tina's comment--you do not need another kitten---I would not doubt but that people are dropping the kittens of at your house. I do think that you should work for a shelter though, i think you would be good at finding orphaned animals "other" good homes.

I am going to bed soon---Sweet dreams everyone !!!

Tomorrow I am going shopping (& eating lunch out) with my sister !!! party shewinks
