Homemade sour dough biscuits are done. And I went to the auction last night because a friend wanted some cut glass and said she would reimburse me. I hope she likes the vase I got her. Of course there were things I couldn't resist. I got 5 wall hanging dishes with floral patterns. They are going over the door of the craftroom I think. I'll know more when I get the dish hangers. Then there were these fantastic golden placemats that I couldn't resist. But of course they were in a big box of linens so now I have more table cloths and runners than a person could every use. But some of them are so nice. Then there were the christmas napkins an entire basket full with different christmas designs and I love the basket they came in too. And then there was a box of cut glass that had a vase that my friend liked so I got it and gave her the vase. now I have a bunch of small pie shaped pieces of crystal that all fit together. I'm thinking it is for condiments. That's what I'll use it for anyway. It came with votive candles in each segment but I just don't see it as a handle holder.

My friend who was there gave me an bunch of mismatched flatware. I'm very glad to have that. I barely have enough flatware to go around when I have company so the extra is appreciated.

While I was at it I got three veggie dishes. The small ones that are just right for a can of veggies. Usually I have to use my cereal bowls and if i'm serving a meal with a soup i run into problems.

My cousin Melanie's daughter died last night.
My aunt that died last month was Melanie's mommy.
In the last few months she has lost her fiancee, her step-father who raised her, her mommy...and now her daughter. tears

Southern Kentucky Woman Dies of Fungal Meningitis

Sad thing...she was taken to the local hospital here two times right after our family reunion in Sept because her head hurt so bad she couldn't stand it. They sent her home both times. The third time they took her to the ER she was having seizures with the headache. She was admitted to the hospital and had severe seizures and strokes for a MONTH... before they finally sent her to UK Medical Center (where all my doctors are) in Lexington. Within a few hours of being there she was diagnosed with fungal meningitis. The local hospital never tested her for it. (This is why I try to avoid the local hospital)

I'm so sorry, Bill... tears

My brother had meningitis when he was a baby. We happened to be in Kentucky visiting...our old-time family doctor diagnosed it over the phone in the middle of the night and told mom to get him to an OUT OF TOWN hospital right away...and they saved him from dying.

So sorry for your loss Cindy..sending prayers for your family.

Meningitis struck here many years ago, my younger cousin was lucky enough to survive it but a high school friend lost her baby. Such a tragic sickness.

Cold today...Winter is here to stay.

I too send my sympathies.

When I was 6 years old, I came down with menigitis, Acute.

I was carried to the local hospital, where they did a spinal tap & my Dr sent us to a hospital OUT OF TOWN. I was in isolation for a week. Then when they let me go home I had to stay home being very quiet for a week. Then when they did let me go back to school, they would not let me walk much & even though I was close enough to school that I was not allowed to ride the bus to school, the drs daid I could not walk to school, so I rode the bus until families around us complained that their kids didnt get to ride--- rolz

I got a lot of gifts yesterday--bad news is I spent nearly $100.00 on the house & groceries--THAT is not fair in my book. I think men should go Christmas shopping instead of women, so they would know how it works & what ends up happening.

I am going to take my MIL to the Drs today for a blood test, then I am taking her shopping for her christmas items.

Any opinions about Gurney's seeds?
Ever heard of GenericSeeds.com?
What is your favorite source for seeds?

I dont like Gurney's for anything.. I bought a clump birch from them once & what was supposed to be a bare root tree came dead to me---and we got very little satisfaction---so I dont buy from them ever now.

My dad always liked Henry Fields for his seeds---

I LOVE Brecks

For heirloom seeds, I like Eden Bros.
Looong morning. But my legal crud is finished. Teddy is all mine again. At least for 6 months.

Glad you got your legal affairs settled Tina.

Well I can officially say I am ready for Christmas(and under budget I might add)...just need to get a parcel to the mail and I am done.

I've never heard of those seed companies either. I'll be interested to see what turns up on them. I'll stay away from Gurney.

Tina glad you had a successful judgement. Hope things continue your way.

It feels like a Friday to me. I guess because it was Ted's last day of school until Jan 7th. I will be messed up on the days all of his vacation.
I am busy cleaning corners and organizing.

Evening all,

Hi all, Spent today grocery shopping, had boys , took Derek home for his homeschool teacher this afternoon, he does so well with her... really good to hear him doing so well with her and no stressing about it....his birthday is this Sun and we have been planning a family party for him... he is so excited about it, he will be 10 this yr...

I bought some clear glass ornaments yesterday, and some paint... so boys and I are going to use them tomorrow and make presents for Mom and Dad and the other grands.. hopefully this will be easy to do...

Well it's early for me but I am tired out... the cold weather is getting to me this week and making the aches act up.. so am heading for a hot bath and my bed.... can't seem to get warm the last few days... have a good evening all and sleep well...
Nana

The ornaments sound lovely, Nana. I hope they work out. And I am glad Derek is doing so well with his home teacher. Get warm and toasty and have a very good night.
