well sounds like you are right on the ball & have everything under control. I agree about the chips & cookies----fruit & veggies are best----you are being a wonderful grandma !!! They need these kinds of lessons as well as the ones they learn at school.

Do the older 2 help you with the cooking much ???

Yes actually it was Tre that suggested the broccoli and baby carrots, He even picked them out at the store. When I'm making something for dinner that requires veggies cut up I call one hour before I get off, and they cut up the veggies and season the meat and put it all in a ziplock in the fridge, all I have to do is heat the oven up and cook it,, They are a big help! They realize that if I come home and have to do it all,, it will take longer for them to eat. lol

Oh Diane ,,
You just brought back memories of my Mom calling and telling me to start dinner... she worked all the time when I was a kid.. was a latch key kid.. and I learned to cook that way... I still start my meal prep early or day before and it's just the two of us now... we are going spaghetti for dinner tonit... and garlic bread... easy and no fuss...
We hit 92* here today and supposed to be even hotter tomorrow... cooler is working good though so can't complain... I run it about half the day when I am here alone...

Well off to make that dinner and get the last load of laundry in the dryer... then on to the rugs... they will go outside over night...

Have a good evening all!
Nana

I learned how to cook under the guise of a working mom too. Only she never learned to cook very well herself. She was half afraid of food. I love cooking but lack the crowd that I used to cook for. But still cook once to eat for a few days. It leaves more free time and energy for garden work or family time.

I pretty much learned to cook when I was on my own...Mom did not ever trust me to not hurt myself...silly lady---
no one seems to worry about that now.

My 3-day Birthday is over now--so it is back to the "real world" for Carol... why

yeah me too Carol,, I asked a lot of questions of my adult friends Moms and trial and error, and experimenting with spices. My Mom baked sweets and made candies very very well, But when it came to meats and meals, most things were bland. When I discovered Spices it opened up a whole new cooking world for me. thumbup

yes me too---But I am a wonderful baker--THAT I was even good at when I was 15. The neighbor lady would have me come over & make her pie crust. Now that I am older, I see that this probably upset her 2 older daughter's & the 2 younger had to wonder a bit---But oh well, I guess it gave me practice...

G'morning everyone. Today my DH has a Drs. appt. and as he will get his eyes dilated, I get to go along to drive him home----I hope everyone has a wonderful day--I'll see you all later.

Good morning everyone! Caught myself a bit of a cold, not too bad though. Mainly my throat hurts but otherwise not feeling to bad at all. I should hear back this week on whether or not the hospital I applied for wants me to come in for an interview. Had a phone interview last Monday and they said they'd let me know either way. Went shopping with the girls on Saturday, we had a good time and it was nice to see them. Their last day of school is Friday and they're very excited about that. Not much else going on right now.

So glad to hear that you got the interview, Cheryl. I will hope for a positive outcome.

Sorry about the cold--it seems there has been a lot of that going on of late--I think the weather is too back & forth & is one of the main problems.

Glad you got to see the girls & that you all had a good time. grin

I stopped cleaning for a bit----I put some deodorizer on the carpets & it should sit for a few moments before I vacuum, one excuse to stop & rest is as good as another I figure...

I guess I should get back to work--I'll catch you all later, g'bye. wavy

Came home from work today to see Tre had rearranged his room and scrubbed his walls down. ( lays on his bed with his feet up on the wall, I complained last week he is getting his wall too dirty),, Well he listened and clean them up pretty good! Proud of Tre, for a 15 year old boy, he did a Fine Job thumbup On top of that he made French toast and eggs for all of them for Breakfast. Tomorrow he said He and Breyton is going to do Breytons room, WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO ! clap Good way to fill the time while I'm at work,, hifive

I am proud of them tho they DO try me at times,, but what kid doesn't why Tre has his moments for sure, trying to rebel , But ask him,, DO you REALLLY want to go there with me,,?? Hmmmmmm I don't think so,, I know you love me too much to get us upset with each other over attitudes Right? then I give him a hug, Usually calms him right down,, funny what hugs and speaking of Loving each other can do to calm a potential storm, luv

Truer words were never spoken, Diane!

I am having just such an issue with a friend currently. boohoo She has hurt my feelings verbally a few times recently, and when I explained it to her, all I get is complete silence and no contact whatsoever. That hurts even more, like a knife. I am the one who feels hurt, yet she is the one who has cut off all contact. WOW. So many years of friendship down the drain because she just refuses to look at it from my perspective, and possibly even apologize or say she understands. Guess it wasn't really a friendship to begin with, huh?

So I am in AWE of how you are raising these boys to be fine young men! KUDOS to you, Diane!!! thumbup

I took my son to school and stopped to shop. I picked up a huge sirloin tip roast and cut it up, half for the freezer and half is in the crock pot roasting. My restaurant supply store didn't have anything except baby carrots and we don't eat those any more. Well, they had 25# bags but that is too much. So it will be other things to go with. I have a lot of fresh fruits to deal with too. I have a half bushel of fresh peaches from one friends tree and a couple of mangoes from another. So food prep is in my near future today.

shock sounds like your weekend statement should have been put in area 51 tapfoot haha

Lynne one thing I've learned is that some people can't handle confrontation no matter how delicate you approach it. It simply means they are unwilling to see their own faults and can't see beyond what suits them ; her silence reflects all of that. So sorry I know it's hard to let go of a long long friendship, but sometimes it's best for you that the friendship has ran it course. In the event she comes to you with an apology, never close a door and lock it, but open it slowly fully aware what you're walking into, so no surprises.
In the mean time,, as Dodge said above, Move on and enjoy all your specialties that make you happy, and don't dwell on what she should have said or how she should have reacted, it will only hurt you more.. kissie I've been there done that,, I've learned to let people go in my life, I don't allow people to hurt me anymore, I don't have walls up, I just observe very closely now,, actions speaks louder than word,, Their Loss.

and thank you for your Kudo's above kissie

I am sorry I missed you Diane... saw on FB you saw the pics of our boys and Senika in Carrie's back yard... I didn't feel very well today.. took a sleeping pill last night I was so tired from not sleeping well before and it always makes me so groggy and crappy feeling the next day so kind of layed low today... didn't do much- we did visit Big Lots and found a charger we can use in the car for the I pad and my laptop and reader... so well prepared for our vacation in July... also found a good deal on some sheets for the guest room bed... the heat out there got me down though... sure can't handle it very well anymore . this is the second really hot day we have had .. sure hope I don't have to stay inside the whole time we are in Az ...

Yes there are 4 more fires going now... think we will have a repeat of last yr's fire season... it is so hot and dry- they think lightning started these.. and there was a fire in a condo complex in Aurora too.. 10 of them were destroyed... just so scary... I love the mtns but wouldn't live up there...

Well I am off to watch a little tv and hopefully go to bed and sleep... I will be at Carrie's tomorrow with the boys.. have a good evening all...

Nana
