Weird, we get a list at the "Open House" that they do a week or so before school starts (which IMHO is too little time to get everything together), James doesn't Trey's school have a website you can go to and view the list sooner than a week before school starts? Here I can log in to all three schools for my boys & view the list mid summer. At walmarts, targets, dollar general, they also have lists for schools in their area per grade in grade schools, sure comes in handy if you leave the list at home. During the school year I can log in and view assignments, grades, tardies, incomplete work, detentions and why, everything about my students that a parent needs to know.I also get auto text and phone calls as reminders of events, and test coming up to study for , Love that,, the boys don't stand a chance telling me they have no homework

Special Ed schools and Private schools are not required to bring in things other than notebooks their own pencils, paper. People like me can't shuck out 300 at the beginning of the school year for supplies, and I don't qualify for assistance in supplies Diane--that may well be the case in some private schools, but I am here to tell you both my girls each spent 13 years in a Lutheran Schools--K thru 4 years of collage. 1985 thru 2007 {oldest began Kindergarten in 1985 and youngest one graduated college 1 year early in 2007} Then my oldest got her masters at the university she graduated with her 4 yr teaching degree from, but she is still paying for that... And while there were art items provided and some writing paper for K thru 2, I supplied everything else--As well as paying a hefty tuition each year, AFTER I paid heavy property taxes (this county is bad for taxes), 1/2 of which went to the public school system. Which I got no benefit from, nor did I have a choice. So to be sure, I go no free ride. And it was tough many a year for us to get thru this, but somehow we did. I know what you are being asked to do is rediculous and it is not right that the few should pay for the many. I also agree that if I were you, I would be sending suppiles just as you are. I just wanted you to know that while my girls went to private schools, not much was provided.---and FYI: Both my daughters were, up until this year, parochial school teachers, and they bought many suppiles for their room themselves, that should have been provided by the school but as it could not afford them, the teachers buy them, or do without. My oldest first got a public school position as a reading specialist this year in a public school, as where she and her DH moved to does not have many elementarty lutheran schools. So we will see how this school does. ____________________________ Back home now----I had a great time yesterday..First all my kids, Rod & I went to my great nieces 5th Birthday Party. Then we went to the Riverport, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis to see Jason Bonham's Led Zepplin Experience AND "Heart". It was awesome indeed. We have seen "Heart" 2 or 3 other times.--Still a great show--made even better because all of my kids, (minus Luke of course) there with Rod & I. Valarie saw some good deals on tickets, called her sister & a plan was hatched for all 6 of us to go---Plus the weather was perfect !! It was awesome !!!

2 of my grand children go to a charter school and their assignments are posted online too. If parents are interested they can find out what the students are supposed to be doing. Can't be too sneaky anymore like we were in school. My parents never knew anything because they never went to the school. I liked it that way.

It sounds like you had some really good family time, Carol. That is very nice. And I would not enjoy growing up in today's world. Not just in school but everywhere for; any entertainment.

It's been kind of a boring Sunday, which I guess can be a good thing, since the day is long and I don't have to go back to work sooner if I were busy today. Lasange in the oven, salad made by the boys, we're gonna eat soon, can't wait, I haven't made homemade lasagne in a while! We've had a nice weekend as far as the weather goes, only been in the low 90's and feels awesome believe it or not Miss seeing Mary on here, I bet she is having a great time with her sister visiting

Sweet dreams, Carol. I am waiting for my youngest daughter to vacate the bathroom so I can get my shower in. I cut my hair and have itchy neck from some clippings. I cut it with no mirror by feel. It feels pretty good. I should go look at it.

Good morning all. I'm off to my quilting bee today. It takes up most of the morning and afternoon. We each bring whatever quilting project we are working on, to work on, or bring something we need help with and they all help out.

Good morning. I am hoping all the lightning around brings some rain. I like cutting my own hair. I have rarely been happy with salon cuts. I did a fairly good job and only had to fix a spot over one ear. Short hair is easy to cut and care for. Ans so is long hair. I have always cut my family's hair.

Good Morning. I do both when it comes to hair--I have trimmed my own & I have gone to salons. Right now, I would love to cut mine, but I will have to go to a shop as I can't reach the back. 12 years, Diane--WOW---& wait----I thought you & I were very close to the same age, which means you technically could retire in say 5 to 7 years---I know raising kids costs money, but perhaps when you just have Julian left at home, you could retire.... Just me thinking/hoping outloud.... I have a lot of MIL work to do today---hopefully I will be back later this afternoon.

Just me thinking/hoping outloud.... no Job I've ever had has had a retirement plan, there is no way I could live off SS alone,, if in fact there will be SS by then. I'm Single, have no plans to meet and marry, sooooo I have to work regardless just like Jimmy has to continue to work to make ends meet, and he "retired" several years ago.. I'm so tired of working I could scream! I'm 57 so I have a ways to go before I could even receive full SS benefits ages to receive full SS,, Year of Birth* Full Retirement Age 1937 or earlier 65 1938 65 and 2 months 1939 65 and 4 months 1940 65 and 6 months 1941 65 and 8 months 1942 65 and 10 months 1943--1954 66 1955 66 and 2 months 1956 66 and 4 months 1957 66 and 6 months 1958 66 and 8 months 1959 66 and 10 months 1960 and later 67 Yep got a ways to go,,,,,,,

Tre made the best pasta salad again today,, He just made it up,, pasta, crumbled fried bacon, finely shredded carrots, finely diced celery, package of dry ranch mix, mixed with hellman's mayo, grated cheese, finely sliced red onion, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and dash of Cayenne pepper. and chilled, He is getting quite good at this. Pasta is his fav food so while he is experimenting guess that is what we'll eat a lot of he can't get on the computer while I'm gone so this just came from his head, and his liking of things that went in it. I panko'd some chicken tenders and baking them now, so that will be our dinner. Gotta love a 15 yr old boy that likes to cook.

Good morning..that salad sounds lovely. So proud of the way the boys help Managed to get half my hay in..so my horses have Winter feed, now if I can get 3 dry days pretty soon, the cattle will be taken care of as well. Then I got a call from an agency asking me to go to work for them..they must have seen my comment of Diane's post on FB. It is for a part time Homecare position..I find out the full details later this week.

Good morning. If you were job hunting, I hope that this job works out well for you, Sunny. But that freaks me out that they would call you from a posting. Another School day for us. I woke about 5 minutes before the alarm. That is like Goldilocks, just right.

Tina, it was too funny. I posted on Diane's page then the phone rings Well I am taking the job for Sept 1st. 3 days a week homecare for an elderly lady and her disabled daughter....I haven't worked in homecare since 2006. Time to get at it again. Between that, looking after my grand daughter and this farm I shall have a few full time jobs rolled into one Dodge, yup horses, cows, pigs and kittens fill my barn. I agree it's a nice place to live but the weather here messes with our ability to make feed. Hope everyone has a nice day planned...today is errands and the once a month WalMart trip.
