I don't think I read about Dante not being well. I am glad you figured it out and he is better. Brrr for all of the snow out there. We are unseasonably warm right now. But my turn will come. I will probably even get snow for at least one day or part of a day sometime this winter. I do most years. I am having a tough time staying awake tonight. My nap didn't work out today.

yes, I need to go to sleep soon myself...sorry for the lack of nap, Tina... Dante could not stand up on her hardwood floor nor on our kitchen floor either---with me cutting his meds way down he is doing better, thank goodness.

Good morning. I grabbed a cup before coming in. Today I will drop my van off for new brakes after taking Ted to school. I arranged a ride home from there. I will have my daughter's car for picking Ted up from school. And she will give me a ride to bail my van out and pick it up. It is a wonderful weather day here again. We may get some much needed rain next weekend.

on the way home today, I heard what sounded like a dropped/dragging muffler. I stopped, looked & saw nothing---had no choice but to keep on driving---after about 3 seconds I heard nothing---why is it always something...????

Carol, Sounds like my days .. Each day I wake up to something I need to solve . Usually a repair. Today it was the internet. An I took the next level an checked out all the wiring myself. Moved the modem wiring to make it looser, Low an behold ...I solved the $100. question. It worked swell all day.. My tech was surprised . Amen 2 months of horror.. I got November free. Thank heavens.
Now Directv is a pain where it hurts.. I am on family package, they took off 2 of my favorites an I am charge same price.. Can you beat that? Month 2 months ago lightening hit my house 2 times they gave me a new box.. Turns out it is HD .. An they put me on that for November.. I respectfully declined it said put me back on regular.. So they did an took off 2 authorized programs.. 229 230.. I read somewhere,, these tv things are out to get you.

Do call them about the missing channels, Dodge. They did that to me and put them back without a problem. Good afternoon. I am waiting for the call to come pick up my van. Twiddling thumbs.

Congrats about the Computer Barb---but sorry about the TV--I agree with Tina--call them & tell them what is going on & that you are not happy about it--Squeeky wheel gets the grease after all.
Tina I hope that you have your Vehicle back by now...

Ouch indeed---but let me ask this. I have to aske as I have no idea-----Do you need an HD television set in order to get HD thru your provider ??? We had that happen to us---Channels changed---but it is what it is for us, as we do not have any HD TV's in the house...oh well--

When my TV's die,I think I will just cancel the satellite. I can get most of what I want on my computer. I have my buggy back on the ranch. I am a happy camper. I feel kind of uncomfortable when it isn't here.

Would it make you feel better to know that my house phone, internet & cable bill is around $135.00 a month ?? About $20.00 of that is taxes--- if you like those channels, perhaps you just need to go ahead & pay the extra $$--Winter is a coming after all & Dodge will be indoors more...

I have standard cable TV--but it comes in direct to the house w/o boxes or anything.....Our Phone provider also provides cable, and internet--so I have a 3 in one package. I can call anyone in the USA for free & talk all day & night, or if I do not use it at all....my bill will be the same.
We had to sign contracts for many years---but in the last 2 or 3 years no one has sent me a contract to renew my committment, which makes it nice.

Good evening. I don't watch any of the afternoon talk shows. I am a news and weather addict, sort of. It is all telling me that eastern folk are very, very cold and much further south than the cold often gets. I hope you all keep warm and safe. I am tired. Ready to hit the sack but it is too early.

well I am on the street sorta--not in the country any longer at any rate. down some dead end road really. used to be field here, but is now houses. I do not watch much if any afternoon TV---I record my one Soap Opera (General Hospital) so I can not watch the commercials or waht I deem a waste of time, and sometimes I watch Dr. OZ--& that is about it. I watch How I met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, & Grey's Anatomy at night. Besides the news that is about it on a steady type of diet. --Tired myself & have a long day tomorrow--so I will say good night now--

Carol How long ago did you leave he country farm? You talk like it was yesterday.. How long did you live there? I actually feel lost in town. Go back home to the farm an I am in heaven. I find town boring. All they do is shop an watch tv. Even here in my area it is all houses below my Lane. Only women who comes out is me an neighbor below me. Rest are house mouses.

The cable companies are out to get everyone, prices keep going up and the programs get worse.
We got 'cable plus' to watch the older shows such as Little House on the Prairie and such, 2 months in they took the programs off air. I need to renew my cable next month but here we have only one provider so what can a person do??
Off to work today then off to pick up Grandbaby after...gonna be a long day here.

it is going to warm up here this weekend (shorts & flip flop weather) but be cold again by monday--or so the forcasters say.
Dodge..WE lived in the country from may of 1980 to December 26 of 2004. Rod moved me into town because of 2 thigns 1) our friends redid thier house & he desperately wanted a house that did not need mainatnance for while & 2) he thought he had cancer & did not want me to be left on the farm that he knew I could not take care of. Well he got his new house, but he does not have cancer. And yes, I feel like it was yesterday that we moved. I loved it out there...
WE could get Dish for our TV but for the phone & internet we only have one option, as if we go with another internet provider the phone complany charges long distance rates to you when you are on the internet--& as we are all mostly on 24-7 that would be bad...
Going with my sister to take our mom shopping today---it's gonna be a long one for me as well...

24 years.. then you did have some time to wander an yearn, for a good life.
You know New houses I envy, However today with taxes, an the stuffy people in those fancy homes, turns me off.. Kids aren't much better. Moms work an kids are spoiled. Carol I stayed put, an leased the land to a good friend. My son, brothers an sister help me out loads....And friends.
I still love the land. However, when you marry the other type , ????

I love space around me. I grew up surrounded by fields and grape vineyards and an orchard or two. Then they began building a university and the vineyards and trees came down for houses and such. Also annexed to the city. I moved further out of the city and they are building and building up closer to me still. Not always happy about that. I took Ted to school and stopped a 3 stores on the way home. I love the food sales that go on this time of year. You can stockpile for the whole year on baking items and things at the most reasonable prices. Today I will be repackaging for long term storage.

My Husband was raised in town but by a grain Elevator owner....he was brought up knowing what it took to farm & all that entails. he worked at the elevator until we got married--but then later went back to work again for his dad for several years. WE just owned 5 acres...But I still miss it... Whe4n we moved, DH was trying to avoid me not being able to keep up the farm & all its 5 acres of moowing & repairs...his aunt stayed on the farm & it was not pretty...You are fortunate that you have help---that is wonderful for you, barb...

Carol,
Well where I live 5 acres isn't a farm.. Just a house in rural settings..
yea, Well, our house was a farm at one time---By the time we came around all Rod's great Aunt had left was 200 acres. She sold us 5 acres (the smallest amount the county would allow) which had the House & all the out buildings on it. She kept the rest for income. So we just always called it "The Farm" which it was once upon a time. And yes, I am in the right place, I just miss my beautiful yard out in the country.

I miss my farm so bad. It was 70 acres. My cats could go outside there, they can't here. I have a very limited number of Pink Dinnerplate Hibiscus seeds, and can't remember who wanted some of them. The flowers are a foot across. PM me your address if you want some. I am not keeping any of them, I am not able to take care of what I have anymore.

Dodge, I can't go out & visit the Aunt. She sold us the house, etc. moved into a rental house closer to one of the nephews she raised, & then passed away. Some people bought the house & the 5 acres from us, & trust me they DO NOT take care of a darn thing. I have decided that no one should ever live close to a house that they once lived in--it makes all of us just crazy to drive by & see what they "do not do". My poor garden is now part of the lawn & they DO NOT care for the Blackberries either...I could go on & on trust me. Going to watch Luke tomorrow--so if I don't get in, that is where I am. G'nite everyone, Sweet Dreams

I sold my farm 5 acres at a time....and it hurt me so bad to drive past the "homestead" part where the house was...and see it torn down and a trailer there. The trees in the yard that me and Rachel planted from seedlings are still there...now 40' tall. And I now live in a place where my cats can't go outside. Big change for me.

I know what you mean: We planted like 20 some odd trees at "the farm" a lot were gifts, and my DH took each girl out when they were each 18 months old & planted a tree with them---it was "their tree". then there were the Arbor day trees the girls would being home---- It is good having someone to commiserate with.

I have one Arbor day tree that Val brought me from her first teaching job that she got when out of college---it is about 7 yo 9 ft tall. It is a oak & so grows slow. \ The other bushes & trees the kids bought us are all dead--most of the trees we bought & planted had to be replaced too.....this soil here is THE PITS for sure !!! I think lots of it is just clay. from looking at the neighbors yard (we were both the same field at one time) I think the builder sold the good soil from our house & put the clay from the basements on our yard to make up for it. I had to dig out my flower beds, get rid of the clay & go back to my house in the country & get good soil from there for my beds--- G'nite ...again...

Gosh Carol and Cindy..........Guess were all land lovers . Sorry to see it all going to mess..... I too came off a Large farm, since sold 2 times, an not lookin like it used to.. 2 or 3 houses on it now. Homestead not mine. However it still is eerie. My land Is being farmed yearly here, which make it look great.. An neighbors comment how nice. Loads of my trees an flowers an shrubs were given to me, an have a story.. One Christmas tree was given to me by my nephew died last year at age of 45....Each tree has a story here also. Anyways , enjoy Life is short.. At least were alive. One fellow died from our church last week, IN his Obituary it said OH how he loved his horse.. Sad. Yet comforting
