Dang, it has been almost 70 here today...I still have the windows open. But, after tomorrow that ice will be here. I would much rather have snow than freezing rain...I can handle my trucks (both of them 4WD) on snow, but I will not drive on ice.

Trey has the next two days off from school; so I won't have to wander to school at 7:30am in the 20 degree weather lol...

My oldest DD (who is pregnant) was just on FB saying that she has NO snowdays at the school where she works. She says if they take one they have to give up a holiday--& I said her giving up a holiday is better than her getting hurt. (does that make me a bad & meddling Momma???)

I am so glad that Trey does not have school the next 2 days that is great !!!

Cindy, I am so glad to hear that you do not drive on ice !!!

As I have said, I do not either.....

Brrr, good morning. I don't have the weather you folks all do but it is cold enough for me. I also don't weatherproof my house as much as you all do and there are some days I wish I did. It is 55* inside because my fire burned down.
Off to get my Thursday done.

I am not getting very far in my doing today.. did get the family room furniture moved around better.. had to put kids comp and table down here so had to make room for it , not to pretty but it will work and we can get to woodstove so that's what counts.. will have to have a fire tonight, it is going to be so cold.. have plenty of wood so that's a good thing...

I am going to make my leftover turkey into a pot pie for dinner with some froz veggies and mashed taters on top.. that will be the end of the turkey... Joe probably won't like it much but have to use it up...

I have The Chew on and they are making cinnamon rolls with puff pastry- must say it looks really good and fairly easy , she is making them in to a tree shape.. bet kids would like that for Christmas morning....... hmmmmmm!

Well off to get something else accomplished today... so far not much has been done...

Nana

Please keep safe, Sunny.
Nana, the news had on Denver temps at -15 last night and it rose to 5*. That made me feel very chilly.
I got some stuff done today. I will have the crock on tomorrow with some pork for pulled pork later. And I have dinners set up for the weekend.
We will have more freezing nights for the weekend and then warm up some next week. I'm glad it will warm up for me.

Stay safe, Sunny. We're having a cold snap here but it's nothing like Denver so I can't really complain. I've got my electric blanket and stay nice and toasty. Having a hard time dealing with holidays this year. I just want to sleep until January 1st.

Take care Sunny-- kissie

Cheryl---I agree--I am going to stop complaining about my weather---at least we do not have sub-zero numbers here like Nana does. Poor Sherri.
and Cheryl---I so wish it were Jan for your sake too. But remember, we are here to help you thru.

Tina--I will have my crock on too. I have a brisket to cook. NOT that I know how to cook one--I am going to rely in the internet to help me with that one.

Going to bed soo--nite nite

I am up now....I made the mistake of telling my DH to be careful on his way to work--so he asked me to get him an eraser from my stash in the basement. And so now I am awake...

I was supposed to be taken to my Daughter's this morning--but she said she doubted if they had school--so I am home--& now the weather is not so bad.

I just checked the school closings for both my girls. Neither has school today, so I have no worries. My oldest said she has no idea where her school closings are listed....well it took me like 5 minutes & I found the station that has them listed---so I have that saved & the Channel that has my youngest's school---They neither have school. So now I do not have to worry. They both have a day from work---Yay for them & Yay for me !! shewinks

Good morning. I hope everyone finds some joy in this day. Even a little.
Carol, do I have to look up eracer? Is that some way to deal with icy roads?
I decided that my holidays are much happier if I don't have to kill myself preparing for them. And then no worries about taking it all down after. And I truly am happy. I have more love, money and time to give my son for his days. And more smiles with less stress for the rest of my family too.

yea, I caught that---clearly I cannot spell. He needed an "Eraser" as he does the quality assurance at work--& has to make a report--apparently it is in pencil. That or he wants to erase mistakes on his metal pieces in preparation for cutting them??? OR Both--who knows---

I have most of my cards done--& some of my shopping--Today I will get my Christmas book in order and then TRY to get my tree up. That is the plan anyway.

Ah, the lowly eraser. It is ok. Most of the time I can mentally correct errors or don't really even notice.
I am going to stop somewhere on the way to pick Ted up from school and look for some slippers for my eldest. Ted will give them to her for Christmas. Good stuff is afoot. (pun intended).

Laughing here. I applaud you for thinking of the "afoot" comment. thumbup I miss buying things for the girls to give to people---I used to love Christmas--but each year, I come to love it less.

Yea I don't notice my mistakes much either---that is why I have so many typos in here---and while I feel terrible about that---sadly, it is what it is...

I still enjoy Christmas for what it means. The gifts are commercialism and not necessary to the season. The decor is also the same. If I can think of a perfect gift to give my children, I do and sometimes don't wait for a reason. But none of it is necessary to their happiness or mine.
Don't let the commercials get to you, Carol. The season belongs in your heart and, in your case, in your church. You do much for others and that is the best gift you can give or get. So paint smiles on ceramic snowmen and smile back at them.

I like decorating for holidays because it's a change for a few weeks. I think it's fun. I do agree about the buying of gifts. If it's fun do it. If it's not then don't. I know some people try to pressure others into buying though. 2 year old Colt wants trucks. Anytime we ask him if he wants anything for Christmas he says "trucks." So I went to Target and bought him a few trucks and that's what he's getting from me.

My sisters Son is divorce an He took the 10 year old shopping for Christmas,, Spent $120. Her Mom said when she got home, How come you didn't make him buy you a better one?
She keeps hauling him in for more child support. Heck of a way to raise kids I say.

$220.

Tina, of course you are right----and I should not rant so---I will try in future try to keep my issues to myself---

Dodge---I am so sorry for the 10 yr old. The 2 adults in this can give as good as they get--but they should leave the child out of it...

No, Carol. I didn't think you were ranting. I was trying to say that the spirit of the season is what you make of it. Not what others or commercials tell you it should be. There is so much good when we make it.
I have a single silver painted pine cone with a red bow hanging around for Christmas decor now. Ted's teacher's aide gave it to me. I have two toilet paper tube snowmen that Teddy made at school last year and a tp tube candle he made as well. That is the extent of our decorations this year. Although he will be bringing home more. A paper plate wreath, for one. It is downright festive around here. It makes me happy.

Bless you Tina--for putting things in perspective. This is the first year I have felt this way--I will hope it is a passing thing--and I have you to thank.

I used to decorate the livingroom, kitchen, & the baths---now I have it down to the livingroom & sometimes the hall & smigen in the guest bath. I may not get to the bath this year..

Your homemade decorations sound just lovely, Tina. I happen to have a pine cone---now if I could find some silver spray paint & glitter (is there glitter ??)

BTW: several of my decorations are what the girls have made over the years. My favorite is a construction paper angel, with white paper cut outs pasted on the wings. Then a hole cut out where the face is , my youngest's picture is pasted in there & the whole thing was laminated. She made this many years ago in elementary school & I hang (it's hanger is red yarn) it somewhere in the livingroom every year. if I could have only one thing THAT would be it. shewinks
