MY girls both spend Christmas morning with me & all the rest of Christmas with their in-laws. Well until this year. My Emily thinks that her son should be home on Christmas morning & so she wants us to spend the night there---we shall see--and next year will be even worse, as Valarie now lives 3 hrs away---

I am glad this is all working out for you, Sherri. And yes, it is nice to know someone who actually wins these types of things.. shewinks thumbup

That is a wonderful Christmas gift to you, Carol. I am glad for you.
I also still have some gift shopping to do. Still pondering something for my youngest. And I will get pillows all around. We all can use new ones again.
Today I was cleaning house. A lot of dust has been removed from the premises. And some more sorting and storing so there is more elbow room. My daughter moved back home and dumped much onto the deck. I have been putting things into a better order to move to the storage shed. And when I get that done, she brings back something else to take its place.
I made myself stay away from the computer most of the day. Otherwise my stuff doesn't get done.
Sweet dreams all. I will sleep well tonight.

Good morning. I love getting new pillows for Christmas. It starts off the new year fresh. It makes a big lump under the tree and even kids love getting new pillows. At least mine always did. Much better than pajamas. I did not get us new pillows last year and we all missed them.
I hope to continue getting my house spiffied up today. I will take Ted to school and shop for the weekend. Then Dig into the next room on my agenda.

Good Morning. Have fun out today, Tina. I think people are ever so much nicer this time of year--it makes being out very nice.

Today I need to run to the grocery, check on my MIL & then come home & begin to organize the things I bought for Christmas in the last week. Thankfully I am about done.

I do wish I would stop waking so early in the morning though... why

I have been waking well before my alarm as well, Carol. Today is was a little before 4 am. It is just now time to feed my son breakfast and pack his lunch for the day. He is already dressed. I put his clean clothes into the dryer so they are warm when he puts them on. That also helps warm the house a wee bit. Makes a happier boy.

You are a good Momma, Tina. I have heard of the warming of clothing for cold winter mornings being done before. Sad to say I have never done that for my girls.

Going to the grocery now---catch you all later...

Carol, I am pretty sure you kept your home warmer while your girls were growing up than mine is kept. It is 50 outdoors and 57 here in my den. It varies depending on many things. I also warm my own clothing before changing.
The apples I put into the dehydrator yesterday are all put into mason jars and sealed for some snacking later. I am going to dehydrate some squashes that I got from a neighbor next. I haven't done them before. But they could be good added to soups later on.
And this didn't post when I submitted it. So those squash are in the dehydrator already. Let's see if it postes this time.

Tina and Carol,

I grew up in Alaska and we used to warm our socks and parkas on the radiators .. and Mom would put our pj's on the radiator and heat them while we were in the bathtub... was always nice... and we had bricks we warmed on them too for our beds...

The news just came on and there was another shooting at a high school here.. not close to us but not that far either...2 kids have been shot.. they are evacuating the kids now... it is just like Columbine ,they have locked down all schools in Littleton district ... our boys are in Jeffco schools so they are safe... I am picking up Derek today and getting Nicoli's makeup work... he has been out for a week with this migraine he has- he started puking today so this attack is almost over we hope... that's usually the end of it .... I have to go I can't watch this anymore........

Prayers please...

Nana

They said the boy killed himself.. wounded 2, one serious condition and one superficial... they are going thru the school now and sending the kids out... they have a pretty good way of treating this now- especially here since Columbine... the are searching the school very methodically now... just in case... I just hate this .....

Thanks for prayers , my candles are lit........ just sad now.....

I had to turn off the coverage... it was just to much... did pick up Derek from school and kept it from him- one of his anxiety triggers is being scared at school... we think it came from him being evacuated when the shooter was at the middle school next door to his when he was in 1st grade.. the guy shot 2 kids before a teacher tackled him and took the gun away... they were okay but scared all of us to death... they have implemented a lot of new procedures since then of course- doors being locked etc... just keeps everyone on edge so much when this happens.. I heard a rumor the boy that did this was autistic and being bullied ... but don't know if that is true or not... doubly sad if it is...

Sweet dreams all. My extra early mornings are really getting to me. I fall asleep fast and sleep very well until about 3:30 to 4 am then I am wide awake. Not sure what is happening with that. But I want it to ease off until at least 5:30.
Tomorrow our winds are supposed to kick in again. But warmer than the last episode. I always get tuckered out in a different way when that happens.

Good morning. The winds are here. At least they are not bone-chilling stuff this time. My plans will mostly be indoor plans. My fire burned down in the night so the first thing was getting that going to take a little chill off. I have lovely laundry to do today.

IT is snowing here--VERY heavily. And it has been for a long time. I have photos & will post a few sometime today.

WE are going to take the Blazer (4 wheel Drive) & go to my daughters this afternoon. She has some chores for her Daddy to do.

Luke got a shot yesterday & the nurse who gave it was not his usual nurse & he was screaming afterwards & continued to scream all the way home. he is still not in good humor, so it will be good for me to be there to give her a break.

Going to make cookies now.

Keep safe in your travels today, Carol. And hug Luke for those of us who cannot.
Bebopping along here. Doing a little of this and a little of that. Getting odds and ends done. Heating with wood is a dirty business.

Good Morning....

Was up early but went back to sleep for a little while.... got to get moving today.. we are celebrating Derek's birthday today at The Ridge- indoor swimming pool... they have a room you can do birthday's in too.. was his choice ..it's a combination birthday with his cousin Ethen, they are week apart in age, it's got a mindcraft theme, and I found him a case for his phone with the character on it... hope he will be happy- it's his favorite video game right now..

I am going to start wrapping stuff today too.. little at a time and I will be done... try not to leave it all for the last minute... got to get the stockings ready too.... will be taking it all over to Carrie's Christmas Day,,

Well off to wrap and get ready to party with the kids..

That sounds like fun, Nana. I hope it all went smoothly.
It has been a good day here. We talked and laughed and ate. I am really tired but not sleepy enough to lay down. And it is getting a little late for a nap.

I hope you had fun Nana.

WE kept Luke entertained today while his MOmma wrapped gifts.
This was after grandpa caulked around some windows.

Luke says Christmas Tree, Love you, Dump truck, & some 3 syllabled word I forgot

yes, he is a parrot for sure. It is like "Grandpa" said, he is just repeating words (sometimes). he was repeating when he said "love You" but I said to him "what is my name" he looked at me & said "Carol--a name" I so wish I could remember the 3 syllabled word----

But thanks, Tina..

Good morning. Repeating even the simplest of sounds is great, Carol. How old is he now?
Today is laundry and changing the bedding. I need to shave my little dude too. We are up to twice a week for his stubbly chin now. I am so happy he allows it and even enjoys it.
Ted only has three days of school this week and then he is off until Jan, 6th. We have winds that are supposed to die off today. We will see. But it is not really cold. So that is a blessing.

Oh do carry on Carol.. I know I do about my grands.... sounds like he will be a real chatterbox soon... we did have fun yesterday... boys all had a ball swimming.. the older ones took the swim test and got to go off the high dive.. they were so happy with themselves.. two of Derek's friends from school came too.. so he was really happy.. all his cousins were there too.. his other grandparents were there too.. our present to him was a big hit ... I found him a mindcraft phone case for his iphone... he was thrilled ,we even got hugs from him.. that is unusual for him - he is not a touch feely kid... made my day!

Well off to get busy- got to do bedding and towels today... and make my grocery lists...

Yes, do tell us of all of Luke's doings. It is fun to 'watch' them grow, even from a distance.
My last load is in the dryer. So we are moving along here. I do need to still get Ted something for Christmas and some little fillin gifts for all. Hopefully this week.

yes, I too need just a few "fillers". But as we have to piuck up a major gift this weekend at Walmart--I am hopeful to get it all wrapped up then.

Emily texted me this morning to see if "Grandma" could watch with a sick Luke tomorrow. But I have to take myself for a check-up in the AM and then marie for one in the afternoon--so I could not.. why

Off to see if I can find Emily's train set for Luke & then I will make cookies. (hint) I do not have it, but will double-check anyway--when we moved Emily got rid of a lot of her stuff & she has since forgot that.

Hi Sunflowers,

Hope your all done shopping for your bunch and Work is more profitable .

Do you put up a live tree? They cost so much here an you need to destroy them after.
I just put up 2 small artificial ones.. That's enough.. Then I wont need to put lots of things away after the new year..

Hope your well.
Dodge

Hi Dodge, yes shopping, baking and such is all done. We are ready for Christmas.

We put up a live tree, it only costs $25 to get a tree from a tree farm here. We also cut one for outside from our own land as well.

I am off work for a while...bad bout of Colitis once again.

They do that here in a few places. My mom has got hers that way for years.
It is like a post office bu6t at least you do not have to go so far to get your mail. And actually, she collects hers about once a week.

Oatmeal cookies done & Russian tea cakes (butter cookies) are in the fridge chilling...

Get well quickly, Sunny.
I bet your house smells heavenly, Carol.
I am going to try to talk Teddy into going to bed about an hour early tonight. I'm tired. Only three school days and then he is off for Christmas vacation.
Sweet dreams all.

Dodge, We used to get delivery to our gate but now it is community boxes placed a few miles apart. Lucky for me that our community's is just across the road.

We got over 16 inches of snow with heavy winds yesterday afternoon and evening. What a mess out there and now it is snowing again.

Keep warm, Sunny. I do remember a couple years ago when you weren't getting enough snow to insulate your plantlife. Feast or famine.
Good morning. We are up and ready for the week ahead.
