Yep Sunny, I remember those days too. Tina is right---But then I remember the years/s that you posted photos of the snow up to your roof. I will hope that does not happen this year.

Today it is a Dentist check up for me & A Drs appt for Marie...it is always something it seems...

Good luck, Carol.
I took Teddy to school then stopped at my grocery store on the way home. Got a great deal on multicolored bell peppers so I grabbed up a bunch. Some are in my dehydrator now. I have more to clean and slice after I get Ted home from school. Those will be pretty in dishes this winter. Red, green, yellow and orange. It all looks pretty and satisfying in canning jars. I'm thinking of dehydrating some sweet potatoes one day.

wow with all of that dehydrated food, I bet you can have days that you dont feel like cooking & you can still have a great meal.

Well I got a lot accomplished today---and then I lost my very pretty neck scarf. but oh well, as Rod pointed out I have others or I could use his orange "deer hunting" scarf--- rolz

I am sorry that you lost your scarf, Carol. That is always upsetting.
The drying that I am doing is for snacking. It is an additional way of getting vegetables into my kids. Jonni has rarely touched squash in her life. But she is loving squash chips and kale chips and such. Dehydrating leaves more of the nutrients available than cooking or canning does. So we all win.
Well, the bell peppers will be used for cooking in some dishes. Unless she decides she likes those dried too. We will see.

what I love is dehyrated apple rings. BUT I love thjembest with suagr & cinnamon on them. trouble with that is the sugar turns to syrup---

I should really try the kale chips---kale is really good for you, right ??/

Do you use a dehydrator, Carol? Try doing your apple rings without dipping them in anything and a light dusting of cinnamon. The natural sugar concentrates in the apple and they don't need more sweetening.
Kale is very good for you. Of all the leafy greens it delivers the most nutrients like calcium and such. But I am not fond of cooked kale because of the bitterness. That seems to disappear with drying.
I am going to try to talk Teddy into going to bed a bit early again. Winter solstice and the long nights must be getting to me. It gets dark too early.
Sweet dreams all.

I have a dehydrator but have not used it since we moved in December of 2004. shock But I should get it out to dry some friut for my "dessert".

Now we can hope it still works--afer the first of the year I will find out if it works yet.

Tomorrow it is my Ceramics Christmas Party and it is my MOM's Birthday. So, My sister, my BIL, Mom & I are going out to Supper. Then mom wants to finish up some shopping.

When I get home I have 2 Pumpkin Pies to make for my DH to take to a work Christmas Pot Luck...
So, I am thinking you may not see me until Wednesday morning. wavy

sorry you are so nervous about the cataract surgery.

Mine went well if that helps--well all exceot for the fact that if I had of getten better lenses I would not be wearing glasses at all now. I wear them 24-7 now b/c I need them for close up. My distance vision is 20/20 though.

If you trust the Dr that is doing the surgery then everything should be fine. I wish you all the best..

Best of luck today Nana.

Tina, you are convincing me to buy a dehydrator....never really thought about it but it would be a great way to preserve items here.

Have fun at your parties today Carol.

I spent the evening 'banking' our house with snow....people are already dealing with frozen pipes. I agree 'feast or famine'....

Crossing my fingers for no frozen pipes, Sunny.
Good morning. Up before my alarm again. I was actually woken about 2:30 and have problems getting back to sleep. I may not go out today at all.
I do want Ted to go to school tomorrow. Santa is coming to visit them there. It is fun to see a school full of teens and young adults that still believe in the magic of it all. It spreads the joy of the season.

Yep, frozen pipes are a bad thing. I woke up again early too, Tina. And the house was cool & dark---GRRRRRRRRRR.

Thankfully moast of my water pipes are protected by the full basement. But as I have said, I remember the times of freezing pipes...not a good time.

I hope that you get a nap in Tina, I feel that I want one already...

Welp, off I go to get ready for my day. I just thought to come in a moment as I woke up early. wavy

Well. I have never had frozen pipes. Not even when I lived back east for a few winters. I hope to not experience it either. But there have been frozen pipes here amongst my neighbors, even in California. Most of the underground piping is buried shallow so as to be able to work on it more easily. Mine is not shallow but buried deeply. And also needs worked on less often because it isn't snagged by the odd tractor and such. Although a broken pipe next door can affect part of my water supply. We share a the wells and they shut it down when they work on it.
I am finishing dehydrating the one load of vegetables and getting ready to put in another.

Good morning. Our laundry line and washer froze during our cold snap. Thank goodness we're back to normal temps. I'm just relaxing and watching tv before I have to get ready for work. I already showered so all I'll have to do is change into my work clothes. Until then I'm staying in my comfy sweats.

Hi Cheryl... I am all for comfy sweats as long as possible too... only good thing about winter...LOL!

We had frozen pipes once since we have been here.. our sprinkler system froze the first yr we had the house... the outside pipes did... was a mess... it has since been fixed once but now the rest of it doesn't work so we hand water with hoses ... on the list to be replaced... eventually..

We will be off to dermatologist soon... finished grocery shopping earlier and all put away... another check off the list... hopefully will feel alright when they finish with my face or Joe will be cooking tonight...

Carrie called - she took Nicoli to dr and he has bronchitis.. poor kid just can't win... she was afraid it could have been whopping cough- so many people don't inoculate there kids here there is an epidemic in the schools right now , he had his shots but you can still get it ... so far it's just bronchitis but he needs to be watched so it doesn't get worse... looks like he may have a really long school vacation....

Well off to get something accomplished before dr visits... have a good afternoon all!

Nana

Most times when I am here typing to you all, I am in sweats. Unless I am on my way to town, then it is sweatshirt with jeans. In the colder times of year I will have long undies on under my sweats. And maybe a hoodie layered over my t-shirt/sweatshirt combo.
The last couple of days have been pretty warm for the time of year. But I can feel the temps dropping without even checking the thermometer. It is cooler at 2 pm than it was at 2 am this morning.
I defrosted some meatloaf that I froze before just for a day like this.

yes, I love my sweat clothes as well. I wear them as often as I can. I have even gone out the house in them on occasion.

But yes sweat clothes are one of the few things good about Winter---

Finally got done with the 2 pumpkin pies cooling at midnight & then went to bed.
Got back up at 5:30 to pack everything up for Rod before he left for work. After letting the dog out I think I am going to try to get back to sleep. Wish me luck. TTY all L

That's some late night baking Carol.

I live in my gym clothes...I buy cheap yoga pants, they look a lot better when I'm out and about running errands.
