A very spiffy new CH Tina, thanks.

I have a funeral to go to today. My Mother's Brother passed away on Sunday.
Thank for the well wishes, Tina. I too wish everyone a great day... wavy

Sorry about your uncle Junie.

I am sluggish and sort of have a headache today. I know exactly why too. I wanted chocolate yesterday so I made cup cakes and ate a lot of the batter before I baked them. Too much sugar now I'm paying for it.

It is butt freezing cold here today. My hands are like ice.

Good second morning. I did end up going back to bed. I have a lovely rainy day today. I'm thinking it is time to gather up towels to launder. And maybe some various blankets that are used and strewn around the house, used by kids and pets.

Good morning. Carol, sorry to hear about your uncle. Sheri, hope your headache doesn't last. I'm too early for my interview so I'm just sitting in my car until it's time to go in. You never know how traffic is going to be so I gave myself extra time to get here. I hope I get this job because I think I'll like working here.

I hope you are enjoying your evening at church, Carol.
I am about done with my day. It is colder than I am used to lately. And all I want to do is curl up under a blanket and zone out.

Good morning. We got about an inch of rain total, yesterday. As achy as that leaves me, it is welcome to do that once a week all spring, summer and fall.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.

My sort of headache never did become a real headache. I know it was from eating that chocolate cake batter. I stuck those cupcakes in the frig and have never even frosted them. I just wanted the batter.

Cheryl applied for a job at Whole Foods? Hope she gets it.

Juniegirl, we go to church every Wednesday night. It's fun....most of the time.

Tina, have you had more rain this year than last?

Nope. Less, I think. It feels like less at least. I haven't seen any real totals for our current rain season other than it is not enough.
Sheri, is your headache from actually eating the batter or from stressing over how bad it is for you?
I try very hard to stick to my idea of a healthy diet. But when I fail and sneak in those things that don't fit in my nutrition puzzle, I refuse to feel guilty. I figure my body is asking for something special that is lacking. I kind of follow my cravings a bit.

I am going to Carrie's in an hour .. will bring boys back here if I can.. got a bunch of food I need to put away.. we filled freezer yesterday .. now I have a bunch of meat to separate into meal size pkgs and seal up..some to cook first ... thinking of buying dehydrator ... anyone got a recommendation..?

Well off to get ready to go get boys and get my day started.... have a good day all!

Nana

Congratulations, Nana and Joe! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
I bought an Excalber 9 tray dehydrator last year, Nana. I do wish I had gotten the one a step up from mine with a timer on it though. There are other good brands out there with other options as well. On mine you cannot add trays. I also have two others that were much less money that did the job too. John bought them at Harbor Freight.

Good Morning,

It's nice here today... was supposed to get rain last night but didn't happen... I do have green grass in my front yard though.. and the crocus are up and blooming.. tulips are up and green leaves.. no flowers yet.. always a surprise when I get actual flowers from them...

Thanks Tina for the info on dehydrators.. checked out a few on Amazon... want to be able to dry fruit and stuff for kids... never thought to check out Harbor Freight for one.. may go this weekend ..

Carrie and Jon went to buy paint for their house last night- they are painting boys room and making the school room for the homeschool .. she is going to get him to paint the whole house eventually this summer...that is on our list too,, house needs repainting on inside... and I want Joe to paint front door a cranberry red to match our shutters... have to keep him busy...

Well off to get started on laundry and rest of meat prep.. have some ground turkey to turn into meatloaves and spaghetti sauce..

Nana

Good morning. Got the dishes done and a dog sitting dog came for the day. That's about all I've done so far today. I'm working the late shift today instead of my normal 10-6. Traded with a co-worker. Picked up an extra shift tomorrow too.

That was a very good site... it really helps, I see a trip to Harbor Freight in my future... not a bad price either...

That is a very basic dehydrator. But a good way to figure out if you want to continue on and do more with a higher priced one. It is enough to do quite a bit of fun things. And dehydrated foods keep more of their vitamins than do frozen or canned. My kids are enjoying squash chips and kale chips. And if your kids don't, you can powder them and hide them in pasta sauces or meat loaves or even in dips for fresh veggies.

I like Harbor Freight although I haven't been in a while. Maybe I'll go tomorrow and see what's new.

Excited for your retirement Nana. Is Carrie going to teach the children or are you?

Thanks Sheri,

We are excited too.. it will be nice to be able to take a few trips and see the country a little.. so many things get put off when you have to go to work and have limited time off...

Carrie will do most of the teaching., I will take over when she has to be at work but she is going to do it in the evenings mostly and the daytime when she works the late days...I will help her keep the records of how many hours a day and help keep the supplies organized... we will work together on ways to help Derek understand stuff.. with his disabilities that will be the biggest challenge for us...

It is very nice to have no job limits on your time, Nana. I saw a t-shirt the other day that said, "Help! My husband retired with no hobbies!" I thought of you.

I need that shirt! LOL!! I will just have to keep coming up with stuff for him to do.. he wants to redo the rock part of our yard... over the years they have sunk into the dirt.. so he wants to shovel them up and wash them and put down new landscape material.. and then put them back.. that should cover a lot of this summer... we have a lot of rock...

If we can manage it we want to have the upstairs bath redone too- put in a new tub and vanity- replace the medicine cabinet and light and take down the horrible wallpaper- and paint the walls- replace the fan with a fan that heats too.. and replace the floor and toilet too.. will hire some of it done- but do the walls ourselves... it's not a big bathroom .. and we need to redo our deck too... it's rotting - they didn't make it of the right kind of wood so we will have to do that soon too...

I have a pretty long honey do list for him to keep him busy.....

Hope Carol is okay- just taking more time with little Luke...

Nana

Well he did sorta "tie me up". I ended up bringing Luke home with me for the entire day & evening. When he left I was exhausted. As I have said in the past, he does not stop and he had me picking him up so he could see out the windows & he constantly thought that it would be good to see "Grandma's Truck" and to go for a ride in it. (of course we did not take another ride)

Then yesterday I went to the Drs. with my sister...She is ok she just had a check-up. And then of course we had lunch out & went shopping. When I got home I was not feeling right & finally realized that I am coming down with Luke's cold. rolz Oh well--it happens I guess.

Congratulations on Joe's retirement. I hope it suits the 2 of you well. And I am glad that Carrie is finally getting the boy's school issues in hand. She is lucky that you are there to help her. You are a good Momma.

I am off to see the dehydrator that Tina linked for you to check out.. shewinks

Good morning. SoCal had a good quake as I was getting ready for bed last night. I stayed up a couple extra hours to check out the info on it. There are still things that I have to do here to better protect my loved ones and that was a good wake up call to get busy.
I am sorry that Luke shared with you, Carol. I hope you recover from it quickly.

Oh Carol ,

Hope your cold goes away fast... it's no fun to be sick... I love that dehydrator too,, am going to go check it out today.. think it would be just the thing for banana and apple chips for boys...

Tina I love that shirt... am going to order one for myself...LOL! and wear it the day he retires and when he bugs me after--...hmmmm may have to get 2 or 3... LOL! You guys seem to be having more earthquakes lately... I agree with the being prepared ...

We are to have 2 beautiful days this weekend so we are going to take advantage today and go for a walk or something... been thinking about getting a dog now too- been checking out our local shelter... a small terrier of some sort we could take when we travel easily or could go to Carries to be dogsat... would help us exercise more if we had a dog to walk I think...

Well off to finish up my floors and take out something for dinner... got to pkg up the turkey and freeze it too,,, Joe is off but went to go talk to one of his co workers whose brother died,, she is going to retire too and was on vaca when it happened so he hasn't gotten to see her since...

Have a good day all!

Nana

That particular link I sent is only for misses sizes, then doesn't offer size choices, Nana. Not too sure of that one's size.
Medium on Amazon for about $6
Here it is on ebay in large for a couple bucks more.

Good afternoon everyone. I dropped off my new prescription today. Will pick it up tomorrow. Picked up an extra shift at work today but only work til 8 instead of 10 so it's not so bad. 6 days in a row and only one day off is a little wearing but I need the extra money. Still haven't found a second job but still looking.

Good morning. When I first woke, I thought we had not gotten the promised rain. But as the sun rose I realized we are getting some. So it is all good. I stripped beds and have the laundry going. I trimmed hair this week and cut nails yesterday. We are getting ready to go back to school tomorrow. Then it is a long haul until the school year is over the Friday before Memorial day. No vacation days. He might have a week off before the summer session begins.

Good afternoon. Not doing much today as it's my only day off. Picked up a prescription, which I had to wait for because for some reason it didn't get filled even though I dropped it off yesterday. I will go running in a bit. I just are so I have to let my stomach digest a bit before I go. I'm registered for a half marathon in my so I really need to start running again.

Good gracious. This waking up early in the AM has got to stop !

I woke up at 5:30 am and have not been back to sleep since. As I had gone to sleep at midnight this is unacceptable. OH well....

I guess I will go & drink more coffee...I wish everyone a great Morning.

I do plan a nap into every day. I don't always sleep but I do kick back and rest. I have a feeling I may sleep today, though.
We are all ready to hit the door but it is a bit early yet.

I needed it..

Good grief. I can't get over you guys waking up so early. And Tina you doing a late or early walk through amazes me. I usually wake up when it's time to get up. Once in a while I wake up in the night because I need to tinkle but I try to forget about it and go back to sleep. I don't want to get up until it's time. wavy Today the get up time was around 7:30 and I worked outside most of the day. It's a perfect day weather wise.

I had a harrowing experience when I went to the library. I had turned off my car, taken the keys out of the ignition, and when I tried to open the door, it locked and the car alarm went off. I was locked in the car. I put the keys back in the ignition and started the car - the alarm didn't turn off. I turned the car back off - the alarm didn't turn off. All this time I was locked in the car. I put it in gear and it would drive but the doors wouldn't unlock and the alarm wouldn't turn off. I felt panicked. Finally, and I don't know what I did, the alarm turned off and the doors unlocked.

omg GOODNESS SHERI
Mine does a dummy sometimes. If someone touches the car the alarm goes off. Sometime when I touch it it does that. Horn blows. It happened after church one day.. Guy said roll down your window an it will stop..It did that time.grrrr new inventions..
Mine is 14 years old

Still is goofy

First let me say that is a VERY BAD experience, Sheri !!
The closest to that with me was my car would not let me start it. DH told me that all I had to have done was twist the steering wheel around. I hvae hit the aklarm by accident, but then I know how to stop it---I am lgad you were finally able to get it to stop--That would have freaked me out !!!

About me getting up early--It is NOTHING that I plan or even like---but if I wake to tinkle, I am done. be it 3 or 7.
That is one of the reasons why I stay up so late--if I do that I tend to sleep better/later in the morning.

and here once again I missed Bill. Apparently that is my favorite thing to do....well, it must be as I do it every time he is here... tapfoot

Good morning. It is raining today and we are to get more tomorrow. . The rain dances are working a bit. Still in a drought situation but any rain is nice.
I slept very well and it is going to be a good day. We are off to school again.

Well, what a bummer. I thought I had posted a whole bunch here and it is gone.
Sheri, we rely on out vehicles to keep us safe to travel. When they mess up, it is not so funny.
Sometimes, if a car is not seated solidly into park, it can misbehave. I'm thinking that was your problem. When you moved the gear out of park and then back in, it corrected.
I will say that being locked in would be terrifying but it sure is fun to read about after the fact.

we were not laughing at you Sheri..honest... shewinks

I had a nice day--One of the ladies ar ceramics had us over for lunch. We had a chicken & rice casserole, salad, rolls & a dessert. She has a very nice house and she is "clean" if I were to magically have my whole house clean at one time, her house would still be cleaner. I was in awe...

Also it was on the low 60's today--and sunny. I do so wish it were going to be this way tomorrow. But I think it is supposed to storm the next 2 days & then rain on Friday... egad

Sounds like a very good day, Carol. I really don't want any visitors to my home that are that sparkly clean. Unless they come prepared to clean mine. Then they are welcome. I am sure I could get over my initial embarrassment.

hey we live in my house, Don't really care what folks have to say about it .. If they want to see a palace, go elsewhere.
We live an relax in ours..
I have neighbors with white carpeting, white couchs an it feels horrible there, I am scared of making it dirty.

Yes, I say my house is furnished in Grandma's attic style. Very little is new in here. But it all could use some sprucing up beginning with new paint, etc.
Sweet dreams all. I am edging towards my bed.

Only worked a couple hours today. Had a really hard time staying up, my body just wanted to sleep. Feeling stressed and weirded out by the med change but doing okay, hanging in there anyway. Of course, now I'm wide awake but will lay down soon to try to sleep.

Good morning. We have had rain and cold and more rain. I am not complaining. The rain is very welcome. I would just like a warmer rain next time, please.

Good Morning.

We have had rain here too. and storms. My DH said that we are 3 inches behind on rain & this should catch us up, so I guess it was raining really hard earlier this morning.
Right now it is quiet but we have more off in the distance. I am supposed to take my MIL to the Drs and the bank today..Those may have to be postponed. We shall see.

Good Morning,

We are to have rain and maybe snow today.. sure dreary enough looking outside... but we need the moisture too so own't complain to much... have to head to Carrie's later to get Nicoli and do some school work.. he went to doc yesterday, poor kid in the middle of a cycle of attack and doc just doesn't know what to do for him... they did give him another med to help control it... sure hope it works... he is exhausted from being in pain all the time... Derek is hopefully going to school today.. for at least 2 hours... his sleep schedule is all messed up but he says he wants to try today- he knows he has to go back... Joe is off so he will be taking him... that makes it easier on Carrie when she has to go to work in the mornings...

I have laundry to do today and want to make some pumpkin bread too.. have to work on my office still- it will never get done I think.. papers everywhere getting the bookwork done for our retirement stuff... and I have to do this months budget stuff too- oh well it will get done...

Have a good day all!

Nana

Hi, Sunny! Good to see you. I did a workout dvd this morning. It was tough, couldn't even do it all but I'll get there. Glad to have the motivation to work out. Haven't had that in a long time. The new med regime must be working so far. I have a job interview to go to today. It's a group interview, not scheduled. They invite people to interview Wednesdays at 1pm. Lucky for me I happen to have the day off and can go. I have to drive to my old neighborhood which is a bit of a drive but hopefully it'll be worth it. It's grey here today but so far no rain. The rain is supposed to be back by tomorrow. We got spoiled with a couple of really nice days. Our rainy season is far from over.

I don't know why I send Johnny to the grocery store and maybe it's payback because he doesn't want to shop but he always buys hard as a brick bread and rotten bananas. So I have 6 almost rotten bananas but I don't know how to make banana bread. Anyone have a recipe?

A quick favorite of mine is to use a cake mix, Sheri. Use whatever eggs and oil the mix may call for but not the liquid. Mash those 6 bananas and use those instead of the liquid measurement. Bake in a cake pan. Instant banana cake. It works with any cake flavor, yellow, spice, chocolate, etc.

I agree carol,
I also use that recipe to make banana gobs.
Drop by tablespoons an bake an fill with Crème filling or Icing of your choice.

Delicious

I am trying Honey whole wheat bread right not.

Good night TIna--& good for you. Warmer weather sounds great to me. We are not quite there yet.

I am up washing the last of my clothes as tomorrow it is supposed to storm very badly. Tonados are possible as well.

So when I sign off tonight I think I will turn off the computer and then quite possibly NOT turn it back on until the storms are gone tomorrow.

So, if I am not around just know that my storms are not gone yet. :) We have a full basement so I will be fine.

Sweet Dreams snooz
