Good morning...another sun filled day here.

I am glad your mom is doing better now Junie...dehydration is serious at that age.

Tina, hoping your heat mellows out for you.

Hi Dodge.

Nana, so sorry to hear about your grandson...hoping the tests give you some results.

I have been busy shingling my new shed...cedar shingles are nice but it is taking me forever to get any progress made.

Good morning. I love cedar shingles. But they are illegal here due to fire danger, Sunny. Keep safe in your work.
I am up too early and will go back to bed until my alarm goes off.
And Sunny, I expect my heat to hang around for the next 3 months with few breaks. I will try not to complain too much.

G'morning !!

I too woke far too early. I woke at 4 a.m. & have been up since. I do not think I will get very far on 4 hours sleep.. zoink But awake I am... why

When I am complaining (to myself) about MY heat--I am going to try to remember Tina & her situation. I am thinking her heat is far worse that mine will ever be.

I have a few errands to run today---so I am thinkinig I need to do them early.

Good second morning. My heat is certainly different than yours, Carol. It is drier for the most part. Although we can have some humidity roll through in August. I think we are ready for this last week of school.

I went back to sleep twice. I believe I am all caught up, sleep-wise. BUT I now have a late start to my day.

Now on with my day----

It is just noon here and it feels like a very long day already. But I'd rather be a bit busy than not, I guess. I am very glad I plan a nap into my day.

It was too hot today(not your kind of hot but still hot to me lol ) to be outside with grandgirl today so I did some more spring cleaning.

I can't imagine the kind of heat you have to tend with Tina.

In July we bump from highs in the 90's to about 105* but it is usually a dry heat and nights often come down by 20-30 degrees. Yesterday was a high of 90 and last night was a low of 60. Makes me want to put on a sweatshirt and I often do.
In August it stays the same or warmer unless the monsoons come in. We do not always get a lot of rain with monsoon season but the humidity can bump up. So we have high temps and the night temps don't drop as low to be as refreshing. Also, evap coolers are not as effective in humidity.
September can be anything between the two. I think our most record breaking heatwaves have always come in September. When I was a kid our schools did not have A/C. I remember a couple of weeks in a row of 100 and teens*. Miserable. When my kids got into school there was A/C in the schools but they would still call off school for some of those days.
It looks like the 4th of July will be topping 100*. I try to remember the people deeper in the deserts on 3 sides of me that have it much worse.

Thanks for the run down Tina..I will come back & read it again tomorrow when I am more awake.

I am taking Mom to a Drs appt she had set up before she got sick. her primary care Dr who she saw today, asked her to keep this appt tomorrow.

I should have bene in bed by 9:30 pm to get a good nights sleep. As it is now 10:58 pm I guess I blew that notion. nono

I'll "see" you all when I am back from the Drs. appt tomorrow.

yes do take a nap. I slept for 30 minutes & it was glorious.

We are having oven fried chicken, parsly buttered potatoes, some kind of veggie, fresh tomatoes, and warm rolls. IF Emily remembers to pack it, we will also have a chocolate pie for dessert.

and Tina, Dinner is at 4:30-ish

This is day 5 with Colt with 3 more to go. I'm exhausted. I don't know how single parents do it except that they get to go to work and have a break from the kids. Never realized that work is a break from the kids but right now I'd be glad to go to work for 8 hours. I was doing laundry in the other room last night for a few minutes and Johnny gave him a pocket knife. I went crazy and Johnny's response was "it's a dull one." I told Johnny I think he's the "dull one".

Dull knives are far more dangerous than a sharp one... Especially if said dull knife had rusted...

Yes, 5 or 6 is a good time to begin training with a knife under supervision. I gave my kids a steak knife to try to cut meat at the table earlier than that, supervised.
But I think Colt is under 3?

Oh my I would have been very upset too... it is true men just don't think sometimes...

We had a nice time today at Joe's retirement party... met a lot of people who were just names to me before...Joe enjoyed seeing them all again too.... they had a lot of good food too- Mexican food ... was really good for buffet food... our girls and the kids came too , son is on vacation with his family so they couldn't come ... was a nice time..

Well I am tired so am hitting my pillows early- have my nephew and his family coming in the morning before they head to her family reunion the next day- also getting Carrie's 3 dogs to dog sit- that should be an experience- but I bet the rabbits that are living under our woodpile decide to move out when the dogs discover them...

Good Night all,

Nana

Knives, even the dull ones are not safe--and I agree, men just do not think sometimes.
Sheri, I know what you are saying but remember, we were younger when we were raising children. The Grandchild thing is exhausting b/c they are young & we are not..... lol BUT I would still not trade it for nothing.

Nana: Glad you had a good time at Joe's retirement party. I am sure it was nice.

Dodge--thanks

G'nite everyone--Sweet Dreams

I got a laugh from that one too Carol... some days after the boys have been here I am totally exhausted... and they don't requite chasing at all... but then I never had more than one toddler at a time when I was young.. Carrie had her last 3 boys 18 months apart each... then I was tired and in my 50's and caretaking my Mom too...

Well hubby is still sleeping and we have company coming in 3 hours.. so guess I will get him up and get the house straightened up some... the dogs are coming today too- and it is getting hot already... summer has arrived and cooler will be on today for sure....
Well off to the races... have a good day all!

Colt is 3 and the knife isn't rusted but it's still a pointed instrument. I can imagine him taking off running with it.

Hope Joe enjoys retirement.

Afternoon,

Well one of the rabbits saw the dogs and took off quick back under the woodpile.. bet they move out by tomorrow morning... one of the dogs is a barker- so been spraying him with a water bottle when he starts.. have to go out with the two little ones cause we have two big hawks that hang out on light poles in the phone company storage yard behind out house... they are small enough they could be carried off, these hawks are huge... 3 ft wingspans easy... there is a prarie dog village over there the feed on but one of these dogs might look good to them too...

We are enjoying retirement so far- going to start making weekend trips and enjoy our time now... lot of this state we have been in for 18 yrs we haven't see yet..

Well off to make up a dinner of leftovers and then read awhile... been a lazy day so far- we did have a tstorm for a short while- so another day we don't need to water...

Nana

Knives are dangerous, just like sissors.
They are weapons.. If kids get mad they use them.
Pointy knives are a no no .. Especially under 6..
