I love trees and I have an old book on trees that I read now - it is very detailed in text but not as much with photos and it's only black and white. So I am trying to learn all the complex terminology. But I have yet to find these two trees in the book.

Could one be a beech? And notice the interesting pods on the other - the pods are really cool to look at.

The pic with the oval leaves looks like a Locust of some sort..

I forgot to mention that I too thought it was some kind of
locust. But the big question will be - which kind of
locust? Black or Honey or some other tree like that such
as a Carob tree. So I have to taste the seeds and see if
they are toxic. If they are not, it might be a Honey locust, if so, it might be a Black Locust.

For the other tree, the leaves are too high - I need to get a ladder to get a nice pic or use zoom somehow.

I am now using a tree identification site but here is a close-up of the tree that is NOT a locust.

By the way, the online tree identification site does not work.

The leaves on a branch are not always either opposite or alternating but sometimes a combination of both.

So far I am up to that the leaves have an "entire" margin. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry, let me qualify "does not work". I should say
that in this case, I (personally) am not having much
success. I will keep trying. I'm sure it works if
someone more knowledgable uses it.

That is ok we all try our best. Hopefully somone can come along that recognises the leaves for you.
