https://www.flickr.com/photos/frankyguitarwatson/14421390838/Earlier this summer, I was kind of pleased at how well the grass was growing, then the longer plant that you see in the picture started taking over one area of the grass. I have not cut it or pulled it yet since perhaps it will flower or be food for something. I'm just curious what it is - I am clueless as to the species - is it invasive - what should I do with it? Thank you.

I am sorry, Fred. I just don't know. I would take some to the local county extension and see if they can help with an ID. I do know different areas of the country have different grass and weed problems.

I do not know either, sorry. I even had someone I thought might know, look at your photo. Even they did not know.
