I have taken baths for alone time. I prefer showers for feeling clean. I have gut issues when I take magnesium supplements. So in the bath they go. Skin absorption is best for me.
Sweet dreams, Carol. I am off to bed now.

Good morning. I was up with the sun and went outside to get a few things done in the cool of the morning. Now I will relax and get ready for the week ahead the rest of the day.

Good afternoon all, we have been busy cutting next years Winter wood.

I take an epsom bath each week...I buy the lavender scented kind. I agree Tina, it is a good way to get magnesium while de-stressing.

I had a good birthday on Friday..being treated to a Chinese meal with SIL and some new flooring(peel and stick but I gladly want it)from DH. Grandgirl also got me a metal birdhouse to plant flowers in. My mom topped it off with some money for me to get some new shirts.

How is the new baby doing Junie?

Oh no! we missed your birthday, Sunny. I went to the calendar and you are not on there. I know Carol is busy with new baby and recovering spouse.
Happy Birthday, Sunny!
I am glad it was a good day.
I buy plain epsom salts in case I want to use it medically. I can go out and pick a lemon or mint or something if I want scented baths. Lavendar is not my favorite scent.
I need to cut wood here. I think I have enough for this year but would like a couple of years tucked away.

No we did not miss Sunny's Birthday..
I first thought it was another day, but Sunny set me straight--BUT THEN I went to her profile & it was not listed, so I did not set up a Happy Birthday Thread...We will see what we can do about that next year.

I am so sorry Sunny. We did not forget I promise.

The new grand baby is great----Mind you with this new laptop I have yet to figure out how to load pictures on it.

I went to help them with Luke today, so Chris could get some work done.

When I was helping clean up the kitchen tonight, I fell---and boy am I sore...I soaked in a tub of hot water for awhile, I so hope that that helps some.

Oh, I hope it is good tomorrow, Carol. I'm sorry. Falling is one of my serious fears. I am very careful. (and epsom salts are very good for bruises and sore muscles).
Sweet dreams all. I need to head to bed.

I am sore and a limping a bit, but I am not as bad as I had thought I would be. As It happens I have some Epsom salts here, as it is one of the ingredients of that bath soak I make.

Sadly mine is not lavender scented...

Unscented is fine Carol. It works. I wondered how you made your famous foot soak. I hope you get time to soak your achy parts. It really works.

Good morning all, I think my 'birthday' was removed with my name change...I'll fix it up. Thanks for the b-day wishes though.

Having wood ahead is a great thing Tina, we always try to keep a year ahead..sometimes a bit more. We have over half of next years cut so far. It has been a busy weekend.

I am hoping you are feeling better today Junie, falls can be serious. Grandgirl had a rough weekend, she fell on the pave and skinned her knees and hands, fell at my mom's and skinned her forehead and fell into the flower bed we were cleaning up and skinned her face up. She even had splinters from the hosta stems in her forehead. rolz

And I must add that I am LOVING my new floor...peel and stick for 3/$1.00 at the dollar store. Cheap but still pretty.

Good morning. Is your grand girl going through a growth spurt, Sunny? My oldest used to grow in nearly visible increments and get very awkward and clumsy. Like she didn't know how to handle all the new body.
Today I will stop to shop on my way home from school. And gas up the van. Beyond that, I am not sure.

Evening all,

I have been doing school and helping Timothy with his model of Fort Clatsop.. it's quite a project.. made the base out of pencils with clay chinking in between so far.. hopefully it will stay put when it dries.. next will be painting it, already made the fireplace, cots, buckets and candles... even did a mantle for the fireplace... now we are figuring out the flag pole and flag... we used a skinny dowel for pole but can't quite figure out how to attach flag yet, may use thread... we have to mount this on foam board and then decorate that too.. trees, rocks .. using sandpaper for the base.. so I will look like rocks- going to cut branches off pine tree and make trees out of them for background... using corks for buckets and popsicle sticks cut really small for wood for our fireplaces... made tables and beds our of corkboard too and fake fur for bedding and hides to hang over windows, trying to make it as authentic as we can... have plans and pictures of the recreations we found on line so that part has been fun to research too...

We have had nice weather lately- it's been warm... supposed to be cold soon though.. the fall colors are really pretty... hope the weather holds so kids and have a good Halloween .. Timba is going to his first girl-boy party... seems like he is suddenly a lot older.... All of them are getting taller lately.. Timba is taller than me... Derek is about 2 inches behind and Nicoli is my shoulder height... all growing fast right now...

Well off to make some dinner for myself... Joe is eating brats and they don't agree with me so I am eating some tortellini...

Have a good evening all

Nana

That sounds like a wonderful project, Nana. I had to make a California mission in 5th grade. So did all of my kids. That was fun.
I hope your nice weather holds for you.

Nana. If you can find an old broom or mop that has a metal top (ie what the loop to hang it up on is attached to) THAT makes a great "cooking pot" to use for over a 'fire'.

I did that in 6th grade. We used small cheese cans as huts, (I cannot remember what we used for the roofs--perhaps flat toothpicks..

Did you get to go to ceramics today, Carol?
I am counting the minutes until I can go to bed. I never napped today. Although I laid down and tried.

Thanks Carol ... good idea.... will look at my brooms tomorrow... have a feeling they don't have caps though... did make one bucket with a cork cut in half- colored and used an ornament hanger cut in half for the handle.... think I thought of a rope for flag- dental floss... we are using a lot of hot glue too... my family room looks like a craft shop exploded but it's coming together nicely so far...

Well it's my bed time too so heading to my pillows... have more school tomorrow...

Holy cr@p, what kind of schools did y'all go to...we never had to do anything as complicated as those projects. Although I would have loved it lol

You are a wonderful Nana kissie

The weather is getting cooler by the week here...most of the leaves are off the trees. It is a lonesome sight.

If you don't remember anything else about the school year and all of the lessons learned, you recall this history project. And some of the history that was taught with it. And decided pretty much on the spot if you enjoyed the crafting that it brought along. Mine was over 50 years ago.
Good morning. Ready for Wednesday here.

Yes, one of MY projects in 6th grade was of a village of Africans from back in the day. (so it must have been history as well) We had huts around in a circle on a board, with some type of safety-fence thing encasing them. and a fire-pit in the center, complete with cooking pot. My girls had to make information boards of such as their lives (using pictures) and other science projects. I still have some of them in the house here. They were too nice to just throw away.
Plus I remember using a history paper I had written in High school for sociology in college so I kept many for Just-in-case.

Company coming tonight or in the morning. Rod's brother & SIL.

I really hope you have a pleasant time with the family, Carol. How long are they staying?
Yes, as a class we built an African village with everyone contributing their own hut. Altogether, we surrounded it with a "boma" to protect from rampaging elephants or something. I remember the words boma and kraal and that is about it.

My African village was on a 2 ft. square board. I wish I still had it, or at least a photo. And now I know why mine had what I called a fence. Thanks. I guess my daddy was a smart man...

My BIL & SIL will get here tonight at 9pm, I have no idea when they will leave--but probably Friday morning. This is just a token visit. They could not be bothered to come when Marie was sick, nor to help Rod move all her stuff out of her apartment. (he was too busy vacationing & visiting friends & OTHER family. I will say he did make it here close to her Birthday to see her.
This last few weeks, they have been up north for quite awhile visiting my SIL's siblings, I am convinced they worked it time wise so that my SIL will get to visit her sister who lives not far from us and then drop in to see Marie once for a small bit of time. (They will have to leave so my BIL can get home to do his interim preaching on Sunday. WE are the hotel. I guess you can tell he is on my "list".

Good news is the house is cleaned up & so am I shewinks

AND Emily & her family are getting photos made tomorrow so after Luke has his, he will come here so they can get the rest of theirs done in peace. Then they will "have" to come back here to get Luke so I will get to see Micah..YAY !!! again. shewinks

I wish we could all send weather where it was most needed, Sunny. I would love a good soaking rain about once a week for the next 6 months. Or more. 12 months would be lovely.
Good morning. Happy Thursday. I have no major plans. There is a concert at the park on Saturday and they are calling for evening drizzle. I am glad I had no plans on going.

Yes, yes I am busy. Today we kept Luke after he had his portion of the family photos were taken. Then Emily, Chris & Micah came and visited with Lee & Judy for awhile. My grandson who usually speaks perfect English for a 2 yr. old called Judy is Aunt Juicy...but hey we all need an Aunt Juicy, right ??
Then Emily & Chris took Micah to meet his Great Grandma so Luke stayed here some more. All in all it was a good day. Luke touched Micah's leg as if to see if her were real or a doll...it was so cute...When his daddy told him it was time to go home he asked if Mommy & Micah were going along.. shewinks
Family is here until Saturday Morning.

Good morning. Toddlers with new babies are so fun, Carol. I hope this is a very nice visit for you.

My Friday is done. Other than dinner, dishes and bed tonight. I'm tired. There is a country concert (Zac Brown Band) at the park tomorrow and I am not going out in the traffic. So I am here until Monday morning.

Sounds like you had busy day. Good thing that you can stay home until Monday, Tina.

Rod decided we should take his brother & SIL out today so I got to go to Grafton (a river town with orchards, a winery or 2, and antique stores galore.) Then we ate supper out on the way home. It was a great day out. I got my Mom's Birthday gift bought (Dec. 17th)..YAY me !!

Going to bed soon, nity-nite.

I got up at 7am although my body could have slept longer-- why
My Company got on the road a bit after 8 my time. So all is quiet here now, & back to pretty much normal...well, Beowulf is still "vacationing" here.

Yesterday sounded like a good day, Carol. Was Marie pleased with the visitors that streamed through?

Yes she sure did. They had a fairly good visit. If you do not count all the things she was saying about her dead sister 7 BIL who were getting married.

Did I say though ? (as I am too lazy to read back)
Emily & Chris asked Lee & Judy to bring Marie outside into the Home yard & they took Micah to meet his Great Grandma. She sure loved that. She even remembered her manners & asked how Luke was doing. They had left him here so they could visit with her & not have to be constantly chasing Luke so he would not run into the road.

I just woke from my nap, I think I am all caught up now.
Last of the laundry in the dryer.

I got the last of mine in the dryer too.
I knew they left Luke with you. And I understood why they left Luke. Toddlers don't sit well. But are children not allowed to visit inside the building? Or were the kids trying to protect Micah from whatever might be floating around inside the home?

Children are allowed inside. But they had some stomach virus thing going around there. Just last Sunday the workers were wearing masks. They figured the baby would be safe but they were being extra cautious. You see, when Luke was very small, they both had that Noro-virus thing. They do not want a repeat of that, esp. since Luke would likely get whatever as well.

The nurse said it "was not" the regular flu. So they know what it is, they are just not talking.

That was a good plan. I was just remembering how much the people in the homes we visited really enjoyed the children coming in. Best not to share anything these days.

All is good here. Hope all is well there as well.

Busy is good. Time flies that way and work gets done. To me that is a win-win.

Time does not fly when I am dusting. I hate dusting. But I did some today. Along with laundry and stuff. I am tired and achy tonight from climbing ladders and reaching and stretching.
It is close to my bedtime. Sweet dreams.

Good luck with that, Tina. I have long said that I would not mind cooking IF someone would tell me what to buy at the grocery, and what to cook each day.. why
Rod says a cold front is moving in tonight----I guess it had to happen.. rolz

Well, my plans for dinner were changed. Ted and I are alone tonight so I'm thinking just simple mac n cheese with some veggies. With Teddy it is best to be simple.

Mac & Cheese is always a good thing.

I had a pork chop, leftover zucchini/onion/tomato casserole & some cranberry coated goat cheese.

Sheri, I do not like dusting either.

Thanks Tina,

I am just glad it's done.. Joe is taking Timothy to school tomorrow morning so it gets there in one piece... !
then I will have the younger ones for school time with me... I am getting pretty good at 3 and 6th grade stuff... LOL@
Well I am hitting my pillows now too- took almost as long to clean up the mess we made creating this fort as it did to make it... hubby was an angel and vacuumed all the stray pieces up ... now I have to find a place for all the extra craft stuff I have left- sure we will use it again eventually...

Well nite all..... sleep well..

Good morning, I love dusting...pick me up anytime to help y'all out lol

We had unexpected company visit once again...I swear that just kills me. Between trying to get next year's wood and catering to people it was the longest weekend ever.

Great job Nana.

Good Morning coffee

Nana: great job! Congratulations to both of you! Thanks for showing us pictures. These are the things children will never forget (your helping him with such things)

Sunny--Oh My, unexpected company. I am so very sorry. While visiting is a nice thing, I do so hope that you were not put too far behind schedule.

Sunny,....Be careful what you say. some of us live closer to you than others...You could well hear a knock at your door some day.... teach haha

Good morning. Happy Monday. I slept very well.
I guess this was company that you could not put to work, Sunny?
If anyone came to help me with housework, I would kill myself cleaning before they arrived. And it still wouldn't be enough. Right now, I have no spare beds for company. Maybe I planned it that way?

Morning all,

Thanks ,, it was fun making that fort but sure glad we are done and it is on it's way to school now... hardest part was finding stuff to make things with- directions said no plastic or "kit" parts.. good thing I keep stuff like small boxes and lids to things... bucket handles are tree ornament hangers, furniture was made with corks and popsicle sticks...

Well I need to make a batch of French toast for boys breakfast... hopefully they both slept last night- they still are having trouble staying on a normal sleep schedule..

Have a good day all... and I don't mind dusting and I too would clean house long before I let someone else come in and help... we don't have a lot of room for company anymore either- don't know if it was planned but unless you can sleep on floor like boys do on air beds you are out of luck....LOL!

OK then, it is settled. You all can come here & help ME clean !! shewinks

I have 2 extra queen beds, 2 extra twin beds, and a day bed with a trundle. And oh, I have a baby bed too. teach

So, everyone should just come here & we will be cleaning fools. I'll even leave the dust just where it is.

However dust is not the real problem here. My keeping a lot of stuff is MY issue.

You know, Tina..I have that happen to me too. What I do not know is are we just getting THAT old, are our computers acting up, or is something else amiss. why Oh well...no matter I guess.

Nope, Carol did not get to go to ceramics. I helped my DH this morning with phone calls and then ran some errands, THEN I did get to go to the Tea Room my Niece-in-law works at that had a 50% sale. Most good stuff was gone though, but I did get some Merle Norman mineral powder at a good price.

Good morning...we are covered in a layer of frost so thick that it looks like snow. It does look pretty though.

I love a good sale...in fact I spent all my b-day money the other day at one lol Oh well, I now have some new clothes to go with my empty wallet.

How has the weather been lately, Tina?

We had 2 gigantic shrubs, a holly and a camellia, that had gotten so big with all the rain we've had lately that they were taller than the house, cut way back and now I get sun in the living room. I love it. The holly was in place when we moved in 14 years ago and it was big but not gigantic. The camellia was planted right behind it and was small when we moved it but also had gotten gigantic. Now they are both cut in half and the sun is shining through. I had asked the guy to dig them up but he said "no no. I'll prune them way back and they will come back beautiful." So that's what we did. I'm going to keep them short. I love seeing the sun.

I am soon going to sleep.
I hope to sleep until 6 am tomorrow.
Then I will get up & get ready to go watch Luke, so his Momma can concentrate on Micah. She "says" Luke screams at her all day.......I will be curious to see just what is going on in that house. I know from when they were here last week, Luke tentatively touched Micah as if he wondered if her were real or not. why I think I shall work on that tomorrow.

If I do not see you guys in the morning, I wish you all a great day & I'll see you tomorrow evening.

Sweet dreams, Carol. I hope you and Luke enjoy yourselves tomorrow. It sounds like Luke is missing having Mom's sole attention when she is there. How old is he?

Good Morning.

Tina, you are exactly right. AND IMO Mom & Dad didn't realize they were giving Luke all the attention & now, since he is so small, he just does not "get it" that he has to share his time with them.
Luke was just 2 on September 13th.

Going to get ready to leave here in a bit...I wish everyone a great day.

Sheri, I bet you'll keep those shrubs pruned back every year now that you get to 'bake in the sun' lol

Poor Luke, it must be hard to understand that he has to share his mom now.

We are getting a bad storm tomorrow, I am so glad that is staying mild. We weren't sure if it would be snow or rain but apparently the rain will win...with extreme winds though they say. Time to watch for Halloween decorations flying in the air lol

Luke should settle into the new routines pretty well in a bit. Most 2 year olds are pretty demanding of parental attention whether there is a sibling or not. They are learning so much, so fast at that age.
I really need to sleep a bit longer. Waking at 4:30 most days means 3:30 after the clocks change. Things could get rough after Nov 2nd.

Tina, why do you wake so early? I would be exhausted by 10 AM.

I can't imagine Colt having to deal with a brother or sister. Ginger says one is enough and I'm hoping she sticks to that. Darbi, who was and is the sweetest girl ever, was not happy about having a baby in her house and she was 5 when Colby came along. She ignored him.

I am a farmer at heart, Sheri. Early to bed....etc.
I was about 5 when my little brother was born. I remember having very ambivalent feelings. My two oldest and my two youngest were each 2 years, 9 months apart and it worked out pretty well for us. At that age they had gained a little independence and were helpful and interested.

I like getting up early but not that early. I like the quiet and calm. It's nice to be out in the yard before the rest of the world gets loud.

Mine were like 6 years & 2 weeks apart. THAT was good for me, not so much for them. The oldest thought she was the mom & the youngest one was forever trying to keep up with her sister. The older one was a lot of help though.

I used to be a morning person, now, not so much....

He was fine--all but that he was acting out a bit. (screaming b/c he knew he was supposed to be quiet)

BUT I will say that I do not think they are explaining things to him.
as an example:

He was laying on his Momma's bed threatening to climb in Micah's bassinet. His mom said you know you are not supposed to go in there, so he just lays in the bed with his legs hanging into it. He gets a time out (I got the honors fidget) & when I went back in I ask him if he knew why he went into a time out. he said b/c he screamed. First I explained about how he did what he was told not to, then I explained to him that the reason he could not get into Micah's bed was that he was too big and he would break it, he got such a funny look on his face. Poor kid thought they were just being mean to him & favoring Micah, I am sure.

But he is getting better, well except for the screaming fits.

Yes, I am.
I will go & stay all day tomorrow as well.
Sounds to me as if I will be going 2 and 3 days a week alternating until she goes back to work (if she does go back)on the 17th of November. Then I will still be going to watch BOTH boys for half days. THAT will be fun. I have never had 2 really young ones to watch before...EVER.

Going to bed soon, nite..nite. snooz

You will be very good for Luke these next few weeks, Carol. And maybe you can rock Micah on occasion so mom can get some Luke time too.
Sweet dreams. I am getting ready to go to bed as well.

Micah & Mommy have Thrush, so I do not get to hold Micah.

I already tried to hold him today so she could eat Lunch in peace. But she thought I should not. She called the Drs., & both were willing to call in scripts so she did not have to go to either Dr. today, so at least there was that.

Good morning all, I have plenty of rain to share. I am glad it is mild though...I hate to see the snow coming.

Poor little Luke...I am wondering if Em will realize the importance of having help around? Hopefully it will keep her from moving further.

Good morning. I do hope they get over the thrush quickly.
Up early today. Thinking about going back to bed for an hour or so.

Oh I think Emily realizes the importance of help. BUT while that is why she had the boys so quickly (in case they move in the future--at one point it was to have been June of 2015) I do not think that will keep her home. In order for Chris to advance in his job, he has to move, & most likely the move will be to Washington DC.

Hope you have a good day with the babies Carol... they are fun when little and I enjoyed those ages too... Carrie's boys (the younger ones) are all about 18 months apart.. Nicoli a little more... none of them were especially jealous of the next one... didn't act up , just accepted the new one to come along as normal... but we all talked up having a new brother /sister so guess that helped... in fact after Nicoli was about 2 , Timothy asked them when now baby was coming...? Carrie told him no more babies and he just looked at her and said good- there was enough now...LOL!
We are to be in the 80's the next couple days... I keep checking the calendar ... yup still October... just afraid when it comes winter will be really nasty...

Timothy is going to go to a Halloween party and wants to be a zombie... so we are researching homemade makeup for it... hopefully we can do it for him... they love The Walking Dead... LOL!

Well I have been pretty lazy today... did make breakfast and clean that up but been sitting ever since so guess I better get busy.... do need to do laundry sometime today....

Have a good day all...

Nana

Because of the thrush, I cannot touch the baby for about a month, Emily says. I feel so bad when I am just sitting there and she is trying to eat AND hold him. BUT oh well, I do not want it either....

We talked up being a big brother and read him books about there being a new baby, but he is still acting out. However, in all fairness, it could just be the "terrible two's" that are colliding with the birth of Micah.

It could be something he would be doing a version of anyway. But I have never had a 2 year old do this.

G'nite everyone sweet Dreams.

I sounded awfully critical up there. So sorry.
I was kind of hard on my kids, maybe. They might have been too restricted to act out much. I love two year olds. They learn so much, so fast. Every day you can see them grow. It is exciting.
Now 3 year olds, not so much. They spend time trying to push your buttons and tend to whine about most things. That huge mental growth slows down and they are trying to find their place in the family. Not so fun. I loved my children but did not always like them when they were three.

Tina, not to worry, you sounded fine. I think he may well be a bit advanced for his age & so while on one hand understands, on the other does not. He did speak of his "pumpkin Decoration" which was 1 of the Halloween decorations that I brought him...I will just be there to guide him when I can..

I was hard on my oldest too. As am example, when she was 2 she was beginning the "terrible twos" and I said to her on one certain day "look You can just stop (whatever it was) b/c I am more stubborn that you ever thought of being." LOL you know that child straightened right up. completely.
Now her little sister, a whole 'nother matter. But then I could not so much as slap her face...It made a big difference in behavior. SMH. I still believe there is a big difference in a spanking and a beating...but oh well, it is a good thing my kids are raised already.

G'nite again...

I agree there is a difference between a spanking and a beating. My kids rarely needed any punishment beyond a hand slap on occasion. And after they got past the age of understanding, it worked to ground them or take away a privilege.
Sweet dreams all.

G 'nite, sleep tight.

Tomorrow I am going to work at my Churches Sausage Supper. It has been going on for many many years. I have finally gotten myself into the "pie room". Another Lady & I cut pies all day & make sure 2 long serving tables are kept full of a variety of pies. If I am up to it, I will see you all tomorrow night. I usually get home about 7 to 7:30 central time.

I hope you have some fun tomorrow, Carol. Sweet dreams.
I cannot believe I haven't posted in here all day. I have been around. It was a laundry kind of day here. I kept trying to make myself cook something also. But nothing sounded good. So laundry and a bit of cleaning happened.
