I am dragging and still have a couple hours before my bedtime. Now is when I could use a nap. I may sneak Ted to bed early. Not a full hour early, but early.

Good morning. I slept well and I think I'm ready for November. That is a good feeling. I am trying to get my kids to tell me what they need or want for holiday gifts this year. I have some things but it is time to get serious.

Morning ,

Time change does me in too... don't know why- just puts me wrong for a week or so...

Went Sat with oldest dd to get material for blankets for newest great grandson- due in January... got 2 Army prints (Daddy is in boot camp) and one of alphabet and animals with a blue fleece for back... dd cut them and batting to fit for me- so all I have to do it sew now... soon as I clean out my office again to get to my machine...

We got a tiny bit of that white stuff this morning but now it's just cold rain.... it's cold though so won't be long... so not ready for this...

Well better go make some breakfast and get a move on, have to go to Carrie's and do school ... in about 2 hours... have a good day all!

Nana

Good Morning from Illinois.

Tina, I agree about the Holidays. They will creep up plenty soon. There will be no family web site this year for me to get ideas from, so I will have to ask the kids for lists instead. Although the 2 little ones are mainly getting Money.

I am off to do some baby shower shopping myself soon, Nana. My nephews baby is due in January too but "Mommy & Daddy" want the shower done before the holidays and possible bad weather get in the way. The shower is this weekend so I will just buy a gift.

I need to get going as well wavy

Good afternoon...just got our power and internet back. We were pounded with a bad storm..over a foot of wet, heavy snow. It's a mess out there with breaking branches and such.

Grandbaby is very sick...sounds just like the croup. It's always something.

That is the pits, Sunny. I am glad you got power back. But that kind of sick has to be harder in the dark. I hope she recovers quickly now. And also that she does not share.

Oh my Sunny sorry for the storm, the snow and the sick Grandbaby. I hope things improve around your house sooner rather than later.

My sister called & she took me shopping along with my Mom.

I got my Shower gift. I chose a Diaper Genie. My girls love theirs.

A shower for whom, Carol?
I had a good day today. Got lots done indoors and out while Ted was at school. So I am feeling accomplished.

My sister's DIL is having her first child in January. The new parents to be want the shower done now so as to avoid the holidays and possible bad weather.

Golly I am tired...

That sounds fun. They will also know what they need to fill in after all of the gifts are bought. A smart plan.

Good morning...I am going to turn into a zombie soon if I don't get some sleep. Grandbaby does have the croup so I have to leave her sleep sitting up in my arms next to a humidifier. It was a long night.

I have appointments to cancel today...praying I can make my doc appt. tomorrow.

Yes, I remember those days very well too.

Valarie would have to be entertained all night quite often because of her earaches. Poor baby was in so much pain that she could not sleep. So, of course neither did I.
THEN:
Emily would wake with the croup from bronchitis, and I would have to go into the bathroom with her, turn on the shower water/head on full blast on Hot and make the entire room a sauna. That broke up the congestion so she could sleep, but then I was left with a dripping wet bathroom from ceiling to floor to be whiped down at 3 in the morning. I guess the up side was I never had to do any heavy cleaning in there.

Sunny, you could try putting a heavy blanket or big pillow under the mattress of her bed so her head was on an incline. I used to do that with my girls when they were in a crib. Emily scoffed at me, when I told her to try that with Luke's cold, but I noticed that Luke did have a large bathroom towel rolled up under his mattress. It did help. Then some stores sell the foam long wedges that might be worth the investment if she gets this often.

Funny how our ideas are to old fashioned and then we see them used.... my dd is same way.. spent many a night with my son and youngest dd in the bathroom , in Az , had solar water heater so never ran out of hot water to relieve their congestion.. held my dd under a tent with the humidifier all night once when she had an ear infection and her tonsils were huge, only way she could breathe,, we were our of our home town at time- was always scary ...

Well I am off to dermatologist this morning for checkup... then grocery shopping and such ... if we get that done in a reasonable amount of time will start sewing blankets... hubby is taking our SUV in for a check of the brakes and if that isn't to expensive to get back door speakers fixed, kids want to borrow it so they have room for everyone to go to the timeshare for Thanksgiving week vaca... they are taking their niece too so have to have room for carseat... kids love it up there, in the mountains and they have indoor pool ... and they get snow this year.. lots of it falling in the mountains here... we had frost on the grass this morning , and it is chilly too...

Nana

When Teddy was croupy, I'd put him in the recliner to sleep and I'd sleep on the sofa nearby. Sometimes, I'd wake and he would be upside down or sideways. As long as he was breathing, it was good. I never found a humidifier that really worked very well. I would do the steamy bathroom thing too.
I don't want frost.

I absolutely HATE this computer. I have yet to figure out what key I am hitting but it deletes all of my posts.

Tina I am glad that you got a nap in. I am going to bed early myself, after seeing if I can find out how any of the elections came out. (not that it matters really)

Good morning all.

Junie, lifting her mattress is a good idea(we used to do that with her crib) but this croup seems to need to have her sitting almost upright. I have to prop her with pillows and blankets like she is in a cocoon. It was another long night but the 'barking seal' cough is gone and is now a wet cough.

Can someone take a nap for me later? lol

The snow is melting, we are having a mild day...a nice treat.

Glad that your Grand baby is doing a bit better.

Me. pick me--I will nap for you today. How many hours sleep would you like to have ??? why

I am going to try to make myself take Beowulf back home today. It is just that I am having a hard time making myself go there as I am sure she does not want me around. I confronted her about this in an e-mail. When she answered me she ignored that part of the question.

Thanks Tina.

I thought & Thought & I finally went there & took the dog back.

Poor thing was so happy to be going home & he was treated like a criminal. She is so afraid he will bite Luke that Luke is not allowed to be nice to him.

I have no idea if I will be watching him or not. IF she goes back to work, she will be going the 17th, so we shall see what happens.

While I was there today, I was not allowed to get Luke his lunch and if I did 8 things she pointed out that 6 of them I did wrong. I guess I can hope she is hormonal. That or she is trying to convince herself that she has to stay home so her kids are cared for properly. I do not know for sure.

I hope she figures it out. She also needs to find a new home for the dog if he is not welcome or not trustworthy.
We adopted Black Butt (6 weeks old) just before Ted turned 6. When Butt was about a year old, Ted got hold of scissors and decided the dog needed a 'haircut'. The dog yelped but did not bite or snap when Teddy snipped his ear a little. Enough to draw blood. A very good dag. And Ted never tried that again. He never meant to hurt the dog.

The dog is a sweetheart.
BUT I have seen him snap for no apparent reason.
This is what she is calling biting.
He seems to be a very smart dog, and has had training 2 different times.

I so wish I could afford to keep him and had a place to board him if we were going to be gone for the weekend.

Black Butt sounds like a very smart and good dog. I am very happy for you.

A snapping dog that will help train a kid that goes too far is not always a bad thing. As long as they don't draw blood. It hurts to have your eye poked, for goodness sake! I think a dog has a right to complain about it. A child learns caution and maybe some empathy.
But we all need to watch our kids and our pets to keep everyone safe.

Good morning.

Junie, that 'dog borrowing' might just lead to a permanent residence notme

I am so glad that Teddy ended up with such a good pet..sometimes they are hard to find.

Off topic..does it annoy any of you that people are celebrating Christmas earlier than Remembrance/Veteran's Day? I know the stores are in full swing but the fact that people are decorating and have lights up and on makes me so frustrated.

I adore Christmas. But in its season, Sunny. I shop for gifts all year long. And enjoy having things socked away. I get such a sweet kick thinking of how surprised and pleased my kids will be with their treasures. It is Christmas in my heart to share with others any time of year.
But all of the bigger commercialism leaves me dry. I drive by a house every day that was decorated with those big blowup things for Halloween. They took those down over the weekend and put up Christmas ones. Running all of that electricity for 2 months seems kind of wasteful also. I'd rather feed a family in need.
So yes, it is way too early.

I too LOVE Christmas and for all the reasons Tina sited. I too begin buying early. I have always said MY Christmas was making my kids happy & seeing their smiling faces when they open things..
AND I enjoy seeing the department stores decorated & hearing Christmas songs when I am out shopping.
It makes my heart glad.
BUT having said that, as Tina said, all in their own time. I think Christmas should start the weekend after Thanksgiving. By the time I KNOW what odds & ends I need to decorate with, they will be picked over or gone.

I get that stores want to make there profit and as more people need to stretch out their Christmas buying early sales seem like a good idea, but all the Christmas stuff & such, yes I agree it is FAR too early for that. At least I have yet to see people decorate for Christmas.

Going to have coffee with my sister today. shewinks

I hope you enjoyed coffee with your sister, Carol. I spent the day getting my daughter's car towed to the shop then waiting on a call from them and then taking my daughter down to pick it up. It isn't much but it was draining anyway. It is good to have two cars working again.

I always enjoy my time with her. She has such a nice life, and home, and children. It just makes me happy to be around her. And her jewelry...WOW ! she could open up a shop of her own. It is always a wonderful day. Thanks for asking.

Glad that your DD's car is fixed.
