Me too Tina. That is one reason why I stay up so late. IF I go to sleep say at 9 or 10, then wake at 3 to use the potty, I am awake for the day...That is NOT a good thing...

Out of the bath, and in my jammies... hifive

I am ready for my bed as well. I try to go to bed at 9 pm. I set my alarm for 5:30 so that would be 8 1/2 hours sleeping if I stuck in bed until then. I rarely do, though. I like to plan my alone time for the mornings. I am at my best before noon.

Good morning. I decided not to take Ted to school today. Getting him there would probably not be a problem. But the rains are supposed to be flooding by afternoon and it could be difficult getting us home again. It is just Teddy and I at home today. I hope the rest of my kids stay safe in the coming storms.
I am going to toss something into the crockpot for my dinner and a couple more meals later.

Good afternoon.

A leaky roof is an awful thing to deal with, we made a quick repair to ours this Fall but need a whole new roof next year. I feel your pain Tina.

Hope you had fun at ceramics Junie.

It is supposed to storm tomorrow...I plan on staying in and baking.

Yes, I am sure I will need a whole roof in the next couple of years.
I didn't cook a turkey for Thanksgiving. So I saw a couple of turkey thighs in a package at the store yesterday. I roasted those in the crock today and I just had a hot turkey sandwich. My very favorite leftover turkey dish. I made gravy from some of the pan drippings and the rest is back in the crock with the bones and skin for broth. I will package and freeze some for future treats.
I do wish they had more than one package. I will keep looking for them between now and Christmas. I love the dark meat best and these are not often available.
Keep safe, Sunny.

OH MY, new roofs...I do not want to think of such things....
I am so sorry for the both of you.

I had a good time today at ceramics. I even brought some things home to work on. As one of the ladies said today--"We sure have fun here" and she is SO right.

Thanks ladies, for your kind words..

I am off to get a haircut tonight.
Sad news is I do not feel so well...
...and I am watching my youngest Grandson the next 2 days.

I hope you are not coming down with something, Carol.
I took another good nap this afternoon. I am dying to hear the news but have to wait another half hour. I want to see how the rains are doing all over my area.

Tina, do you still have to clean out the smoke stacks? Seems I remember you used to do that often.

Juniegirl, Colt has been with me since Sunday and is here until Thursday. I've decided I'm too old for this. 2 days is about all I can take anymore.

We had Luke (2 yrs. old) here for a bit under 24 hours & I thought that was going to do me in....It is a good thing that raising kids is usually done by younger people than we are, huh ???

Tina, I wonder if I am getting sick too...I sure hope not....IF I do get sick that will put Emily in a real bind....

I still clean smoke stacks religiously. But I have not yet lit a fire this season. My house is cool but not freezing. I bundle up to keep warm if need be. Ted's room is kept warm with an oil type space heater and the dryer is not too far away. His room is pretty comfortable.
Keep well, Carol. But take care of yourself whatever the circumstances.

Juniegirl, what would our children do if we weren't here to take care of the grans? I never asked my mother to take care of the girls. She took care of Shelley once or twice and never Ginger. If you weren't close by what would Emily do? I'm not complaining just wondering because sometimes Shelley calls me and says she doesn't know what else to do so can I pick up her children from school or such.

Still take care of yourself too, Carol.
Good morning. It is still raining. Our roads did not flood in the usual places so much. They have road construction going on nearby and that is where the roads are flooded. And the roads flooded there instead of the drainage ditches designed to handle the hillside runoff. We got about 8 inches of rain.
I guess Ted and I will stay home again today.

Yup, same here...I might have asked my mom a handful of times to babysit and I paid her as well.

Now I am raising my grandgirl and DD just announced she is pregnant again...yup, when it rains it pours.

I do hope you fair out o.k. Tina, feast or famine isn't it? I seen on the news today that there was snow somewhere in California as well.

Take care Junie, it's a nasty time of year to be sick.

Snowing out at the moment with a chance of freezing rain later in the day. All events and schools were cancelled today.

Yes, there is snow up north in the mountains. Because we, in the south, drug some tropical stuff into our storms, it was too warm for snow below 8k ft above sea level. I am about 2k+. Our mountains are not snowy yet.
We got quite a bit of rain. It will take many such more storms to make up for our drought situation though.
My mother never babysat for me. But she did come and borrow my children one at a time for some road trips. She said my kids were great traveling companions.

My mother baby sat for me probably 4 times if you figure in both kids. She said she was too nervous to do so. She did not watch my sister's kids much either...BUT when my brother had kids---she had them all.the.time. And loved it.
Apparently she was ready to be a grandmother then... why

MY MIL watched my kids when I needed someone & My sister's MIL watched hers if she needed someone.

My youngest DD lives the closest to me (20 miles one way, thru a few towns & cities.) and I love my grandkids & am happy to help her, but really, when she KNOWS she is going to need someone it would be courteous of her to let me know ASAP...& she does not.

I hope to take care of myself--and I agree this is NO time of year to be sick. nono

Another Grandchild, Sunny ?.....I do not know if I should he happy for you or sad. They are little dears though....

The weather...ugh...tomorrow it is supposed to ice. By the time they call off school, I will have to be on my way to Emily's house--oh Lordy....

But you are home for the day now, Carol?
I have gone out and collected my mail. And paid my bills. So grateful that I am able to pay them. Especially when bigger ones are due like taxes and insurance.
It looks like the weather will clear and the roads so I will be able to get Ted to school and such the rest of the week.

Sunny, is this DD the mother of the child you are raising? We have friends who are raising an 8 year old grand son and their daughter, his mom, had another baby 9 or 10 months ago and it's looking as if this child will end up living with them too. We have several friends who are raising their grand children and it's just about done one of them in. Her second husband left her after the baby came to live with them. He said the baby wasn't the reason but she said she was totally blindsided by him leaving and things did appear ok to outsiders until they had to be up in the night for feedings and crying and such. Maybe he's a big baby himself and couldn't take not being the center of attention or maybe he just didn't want to be tied down in his old age. Another couple has raised one grand child who is 16 now but when more babies came along she raised them herself. go figure.

Sadly yes...but I gave her her warning and the father of this one as well. It is their responsibility..not mine.

Freezing rain here...I'd rather snow. I just know I'll soon lose power.

No ice here thank goodness. Yesterday was 70.

If you have a toddler buy him a Fisher Price Batcave. We have played with this one game all day long. It's interactive with my iphone. He loves it and so do I.

So how is it interactive, Sheri? I just ran to look it up on Amazon and it looks like there are a bunch of different components you can add. If it interacts with your iPhone somehow, I'm assuming it will interact with Ted's iPad too. Sounds like a good Teddy toy to me.

I got up to make a bathroom run at 5:15 and so now I am up for the day. I am a bit over 1 hr. short on sleep--- rolz

Cold is better, but still a cold. Wish I could take some Sudafed...

Today is a Micah day. He has a schedule where he sleeps one day away & is awake most of the next day. Today is a sleeping day.

I ordered an interactive bear like that as a gift for a friend...apparently you put the phone in it and it locks then an App creates different activities...I ordered it at Walmart.

Our freezing rain got covered with some wet snow thankfully....another day of pre-school and errands.

Good morning. You folks stay safe on your icy roads.
Sleeping every other day is not such a bad schedule to work around, Carol.
I read up more info on that toy and it works with an iPhone or iPod but not an iPad. It still looks like something Teddy would like, maybe. He is so difficult to shop for.
We had a downpour last night. It will be interesting to see what the roads all look like today.

Well, the only thing icy was the apron of my driveway. Thank goodness. But everyone was driving slowly, so that was nice to see.

Emily tells me she is going to "try" for next Wednesday to be her last day. We shall see.

Tomorrow I am going with my sister to a check-up apt. she has with one of her Drs.

Going to bed soon---

Good morning. Waiting to see the weather forecast roll around. I think more rain is due in the long range.
Ted has a field trip with his class today to watch the Nutcracker. I plan on shopping for the weekend. And we will get some of the storm damage taken care of outside.

I have to go now---I should already be getting ready to go.

Tina, I downloaded the free Batman app on my iphone and when you turn that app on it tells you what to do. It has a matching game, video, you hold the phone over a few emblems on the toy itself and the joker or batman will appear and tell you what's going on in the bat cave. The joker may be hiding in there and you have to tap him to make him leave, or pies are thrown and you have to tap them to stop them - all sorts of fun stuff. He played with it nonstop.

Gas is $2.69 here today.

I paid $2.89 for gas today. It has been years since it has been under $3 here.
Sheri, the description said it works with iPhone or iPod. but not an iPad. That is what Teddy has. I will still keep a watch out for it.

well I am home. It was a long day at the Drs. My sister & I were eating lunch first at about 1:30. Her apt was supposed to be at 10:45 but you know how that goes. Then we went to the grocery & to Wal-mart. I got home at 5pm.

While out I got a call from the nursing home and my MIL had fallen & gashed her head. The ambulance (yea an ambulance--) rolz was supposed to take her "ACROSS THE ROAD" to the hospital there to get stiches.
BUT they take her to another hospital about 30 miles away instead...can you say "more money ???"

and this was at 2 pm today (at the latest) she is still there now----Rod is on the phone now trying to find out something... rolz
